Kent State at Central Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Kent State at Central Michigan odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Kent State Golden Flashes (5-4, 4-1 MAC) travel to meet the Central Michigan Chippewas (5-4, 3-2) Wednesday at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Kent State vs. Central Michigan odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Golden Flashes were ridiculous on offense last week against visiting Northern Illinois, outlasting the Huskies 52-47. Kent State picked up 359 yards on the ground and 322 yards through the air.

The Chippewas also had a big-time offensive performance, winning 42-30 as a nine-point underdog in Kalamazoo against Western Michigan. Special teams were a huge part of the victory as WR Kalil Pimpleton had a pair of punt returns for score in the second quarter last week to serve as the difference maker.

Kent State at Central Michigan odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kent State 43, Central Michigan 37

Money line

KENT STATE (+115) has a tremendous offense worthy of respect. Central Michigan (-140) won’t be an easy out on its home field, but the Golden Flashes have the offense to roll with anyone.

QB Dustin Crum has thrown for 2,092 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions while running for 440 yards and eight scores. But he isn’t a one-trick pony. RB Marquez Cooper has rolled 731 yards and seven scores, while WR Dante Cephas has posted 55 grabs for 807 yards and six touchdowns. Kent State can come at you from a number of ways.

Against the spread

KENT STATE +2.5 (-107) isn’t as great of a value, but if you think this is going to be a one- or two-point game, have at it. It’s better to just play the money line.

Over/Under

The OVER 75.5 (-108) is worth a small-unit play, even though this is a big number. We saw three MAC teams go for 40 or more points in Tuesday’s games, hitting the Over in two of three. Last week the Over was 4-1 in the five mid-week MAC games, including for each of these teams. Expect another high-scoring affair in Mount Pleasant.

Central Michigan at Western Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Central Michigan at Western Michigan odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Central Michigan Chippewas (4-4, 2-2 MAC) and Western Michigan Broncos (5-3, 2-2) tangle in a midweek directional-Michigan affair Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET Waldo Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich. Below, we look at the Central Michigan vs. Western Michigan odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Central Michigan is coming off a 39-38 home loss to Northern Illinois (Oct. 23). The one-point loss is part of a trend: the Chippewas have played in four one-score games since Sept. 25. Overall this season, CMU has been solid on offense, especially in the passing game (288.0 yards per game-22nd FBS) and shaky on defense, especially against the pass (270.5 yards allowed per game-113th).

Western Michigan has been more of a middle-of-the-road balanced offense while posting good numbers on defense. WMU has yielded just 320.8 total yards per contest; that ranks 20th in the nation. The Broncos have lost two of their last three after starting the season 4-1.

Central Michigan at Western Michigan odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Western Michigan 38, Central Michigan 28

Money line

Central coughed up a 35-18 lead in its loss to Northern Illinois. The Chippewas’ ability to move the ball – especially through the air – outshines their scoring (69th FBS) numbers. Red-zone (and inside-40) performances have been lackluster, and CMU has also been a subpar group in converting third downs. (The Chippewas went just 1-for-10 on third downs in last year’s 52-44 setback against the Broncos, Nov. 18).

Western is getting too much of a lean from the public here. CENTRAL MICHIGAN (+300) offers enough return to swim upstream and play for some plus money.

Against the spread

Freshman QB Daniel Richardson and the CMU passing attack have put up consistent 60%, 275-yard performances. In wins and losses, at home and abroad, and against different types of defenses. Figure Central Michigan closing out this one with a single-digit deficit.

BACK THE CHIPPEWAS +9.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Lots of crisscrossing signals on how best to play this one on what is forecasted as a chilly night in Kalamazoo. PASS.

Central Michigan at LSU odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Central Michigan at LSU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Central Michigan Chippewas (1-1) and LSU Tigers (1-1) meet Saturday at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rogue, La. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Central Michigan vs. LSU odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Chippewas opened the season on the road against an SEC team, falling 34-24 at Missouri. The Chips covered that game as 13.5-point underdogs, and then covered their home opener in Mount Pleasant by a 45-0 count against FCS Robert Morris. The Under hit in each of their outings.

The Tigers topped McNeese State and head coach Ed Orgeron’s son Cody in Baton Rouge last weekend, 34-7, although they failed to cover the 38.5-point spread. They also failed to cover as 1.5-point favorites in their opening game loss at UCLA. They have split the Over/Under 1-1.

Central Michigan at LSU odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 41, Central Michigan 17

Money line

LSU (-1000) will cost you 10 times your potential return. The Tigers have had plenty of issues on offense and were only able to muster up 34 points against their FCS visitors last week.

It’s always risky to bet this heavy of a favorite straight up, but even more so with as shaky as LSU has been.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

LSU -19.5 (-108) is the lean here, but don’t be surprised to see Central Michigan hang in this game for at least the first half.

The Chips have covered their first two games, including a trip to Columbia to battle Mizzou. While many might gravitate to the visitors because of their 2-0 ATS mark, and especially considering LSU’s 0-2 ATS record, the Tigers are going to piece it together soon or later.

This is a tough spot for Central, including a bout with the heat and humidity of Louisiana. I think LSU pulls away in the second half due to a number of factors, including speed, the heat and more.

Stream college football games on ESPN+ by signing up here.

Over/Under

UNDER 60.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play. The Under has connected in each of CMU’s two outings, while LSU has struggled offensively and hit the Under in its only home game.

LSU will keep Central Michigan mostly in check, and while I expect the Tigers to be better offensively this one will still be Under.

Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Central Michigan Chippewas at Eastern Michigan Eagles sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Central Michigan Chippewas (2-1, 2-1 MAC) visit the Eastern Michigan Eagles (0-3, 0-3) Friday for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff at Rynearson Stadium in Ypsilanti, Mich. Below, we analyze the Central Michigan-Eastern Michigan college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:18 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Central Michigan -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Eastern Michigan +200 (bet $100 to win $200)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Central Michigan -7 (+100) | Eastern Michigan +7 (-121)
  • Over/Under: 58.5 (O: -115 | U: -106)

Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan: Three things to know

  • Central Michigan came up just short last week in home shootout with Western Michigan, falling 52-44 for its first non-cover of the season. The Chips offense is humming along, averaging 38.0 PPG, with at least 30 points in each of its three outings.
  • Eastern Michigan has yet to experience a victory in three outings, but it has covered twice with a pair of Over results. The Eagles have racked up 245.0 passing yards per game to rank 52nd, their best unit on either side of the ball. They have had tremendous difficulty stopping the run, yielding 235.7 YPG on the ground to rank 121st in the nation.
  • The Chippewas are 6-2 ATS in the past eight meeting, while going 4-1 ATS in their past five trips to Eastern Michigan. The Over has cashed in nine of the past 13 meetings in this series, too.

Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Central Michigan 45, Eastern Michigan 27

Money line (ML)

Central Michigan (-250) is a little too rich for my blood as a stand-alone bet, but if you were to include the Chips in a multi-team parlay, they’re certainly worth a roll of the dice there.

Against the spread (ATS)

CENTRAL MICHIGAN -7 (+100) has a high-octane offense, which is not what Eastern Michigan needs right now. EMU hung tough in the first two games, including against a powerful Kent State side in the opener (a 27-23 loss), but it was dusted for a season-high 45 points at home against Toledo las week. Expect a similar result here, with the Chips running roughshod over the Eagles.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 58.5 (-115) is the play. CMU has the potential to hit the high 40’s or low 50’s on the scoreboard all on its own. As such, the Over is the best play on the board, as the Chippewas will have their way with the Eagles in Ypsilanti.

Western Michigan at Central Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Western Michigan Broncos at Central Michigan Chippewas sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Western Michigan Broncos (2-0, 2-0 MAC) and Central Michigan Chippewas (2-0, 2-0) meet in Mount Pleasant, Mich., for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Western Michigan-Central Michigan college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Western Michigan at Central Michigan: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:43 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Western Michigan -121 (bet $121 to win $100) | Central Michigan +100 (bet $100 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Western Michigan -1.5 (-106) | Central Michigan +1.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 58.5 (O: -115 | U: -106)

Western Michigan at Central Michigan: Three things to know

  1. Western Michigan stunned Toledo last week with a come-from-behind 41-38 victory. Trailing 38-28 after a Rockets TD with 2:54 to go, the Broncos scored with 45 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 38-34 – they missed the PAT. Western Michigan then recovered an onside kick and went on to score the go-ahead TD with 17 seconds remaining on a fake spike play, which tricked everyone.
  2. The Broncos have won and covered both of their games, including a 58-13 win at Akron in their only previous road contest. The Over has connected in each game for WMU, too, as they’re averaging 49.5 points per game, which rank second in the country. On defense, they’re allowing 25.5 PPG. QB Kaleb Eleby has passed for 546 yards, and WR D’Wayne Eskridge is a star in the making with 245 receiving yards and speed to burn in the return game.
  3. Central, 2-0 SU/ATS, thumped Northern Illinois 40-10 as 5.5-point favorites last week. The Chips have stepped up defensively, yielding just 294.5 total YPG to rank eighth, while allowing 92.0 rushing yards per game to check in at ninth. They’re also 16th in the country with just 18.5 PPG allowed.

Western Michigan at Central Michigan: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Central Michigan 36, Western Michigan 31

Money line (ML)

CENTRAL MICHIGAN (+100) is a good play on the money line at home. The defending West Division champs have the defense to hold Eleby and Eskridge in check, and the Chips offense has looked just as potent as their rivals from Kalamazoo.

Know this wager comes with risk, however, as CMU has dropped four straight home games against Western, including a 35-10 shellacking in 2018 in the most recent game at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Against the spread (ATS)

CENTRAL MICHIGAN +1.5 (-115) might be struggling lately in this rivalry, but it’s cashing tickets most everywhere else. Western Michigan is just 2-7 ATS in the past nine on the road, and 4-17 ATS in the previous 21 following a cover. CMU is 7-1 ATS in the past eight at home, and 8-3 ATS in the past 11 overall. For what it’s worth, the Chippewas are a sparkling 10-0-1 ATS in their past 11 appearances on a Wednesday.

Sure, the road team is 7-1 ATS in the past eight in this series, and the Broncos are 4-0 ATS in the past four trips to CMU, but go against those trends and roll with the Chips.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 58.5 (-115) is the way to go here, going 6-2-1 in Western’s past nine road games and six of the past eight at home for Central. The Over is also 9-4 in the past 13 for the Chips against a winning team.

Central Michigan at Northern Illinois odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Central Michigan Chippewas at Northern Illinois Huskies sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Central Michigan Chippewas (1-0, 1-0 MAC) and Northern Illinois Huskies (0-1, 0-1) meet in DeKalb, Ill., for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Central Michigan-Northern Illinois college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Central Michigan at Northern Illinois: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:20 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Central Michigan -295 (bet $295 to win $100) | Northern Illinois +235 (bet $100 to win $235)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Central Michigan -7.5 (-110) | Northern Illinois +7.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 57.5 (O: -115 | U: -106)

Central Michigan at Northern Illinois: Three things to know

  1. Central Michigan opened with an impressive 30-27 win over Ohio in the opener, as QB Daniel Richardson threw for 243 yards with a touchdown. He started since QB David Moore is still suspended for violation of testing positive for an NCAA banned substance last season. Moore’s appeal remains in limbo.
  2. Many will look at the score from NIU’s game vs. Buffalo last week and assume the Huskies were beaten badly as they fell 49-30. Northern Illinois actually outgained Buffalo 397 to 357 in total yards, but turnovers were the issue. NIU coughed it up five times, and two fumbles and an interception were each returned for touchdowns. That was the difference.
  3. These teams met last season in Mount Pleasant, and the CMU registered a 48-10 win on Nov. 2, 2019. The Chips have covered six straight in this series.

Central Michigan at Northern Illinois: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Central Michigan 33, Northern Illinois 27

Money line (ML)

Central Michigan (-295) should be able to secure a road victory against Northern Illinois (+235), although laying more than three times your potential return isn’t a great wager. Over the long haul, this identical wager while winning at a 75 percent clip, you would be in the red. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

NORTHERN ILLINOIS +7.5 (-110) is home for a second consecutive week. While NIU failed to cover against Buffalo last week, the Huskies were solid on offense and they’re a great bet catching 7 and a hook. They’re not going to turn it over five times, and they’re certainly not going to have three defensive touchdowns against them again.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 57.5 (-115) is a decent small-unit play. The Over has hit in five straight as a road favorite for the Chips, while cashing in eight of the previous eight league games. NIU hit the Over in the opener, moving to 7-1 across the past eight for the Huskies.

Ohio at Central Michigan odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Ohio Bobcats at Central Michigan Chippewas sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Ohio Bobcats and Central Michigan Chippewas open their seasons at Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Mich., for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff Wednesday. Below, we analyze the Ohio-Central Michigan college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Ohio at Central Michigan: Betting odds and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 4:26 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Ohio -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Central Michigan -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Ohio -1.5 (-103) | Central Michigan +1.5 (-120)
  • Over/Under: 59.5 (O: -115 | U: -106)

Ohio at Central Michigan: Three things to know

  1. Ohio will be gunning for the East Division title, looking to build off a seven-win season and a bowl victory against Nevada in 2019. The defense returns nine starters, and the Bobcats should be much improved. Ohio won each of its four conference road games last season, and they were 3-1 ATS.
  2. Central Michigan won the West Division and MAC Championship in 2019. Unfortunately for head coach Jim McElwain, the offensive line has just one starter returning. The Chippewas added several transfers, moved some existing players to the O-line and also made the position a priority in recruiting, but pass protection could be an issue early on.
  3. CMU QB David Moore was expected to be suspended for the first five games, as he serves a suspension for a banned substance. He has applied for reinstatement with the late start to the season, but there has been no word on a reduction or elimination of suspension from the NCAA. As such, redshirt-freshman QB Daniel Richardson has been named starter.

Ohio at Central Michigan: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

Ohio 34, Central Michigan 27

Money line (ML)

OHIO (-110) is an outstanding play on the road. Yes, Central Michigan (-110) won the West Division last season, but it has had plenty of losses at key positions, especially the offensive line. Plus, quarterback is a huge question mark. Ohio’s pass rush should make things miserable for Richardson and the CMU offense.

Against the spread (ATS)

OHIO (-1.5, -103) doesn’t look like the play on paper. Central Michigan (+1.5, -120) is at home, it’s the defending conference champs and it’s 4-0 ATS in the past four meetings. However, the Bobcats have more returnees, especially at key positions, and the Chips offense is likely to be a bit discombobulated early on. Frank Solich’s bunch will open on the road with an impressive win, something they did all four times in conference play last season.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Chips saw the Over connect in five of their final seven MAC battles in 2019, and the Bobcats also hit the Over in five of their final seven conference tilts. Playing the Over is going against the trends in this series, as the Under is 4-0 in the past four meetings, and 4-1 in the past five in Mount Pleasant. But the OVER 59.5 (-115) is worth playing lightly in this one, as Ohio averaged 34.7 PPG last season, while CMU was good for 31.9 PPG.
