Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers meet Monday for Game 4 of their best-of-7 Western Conference Finals series, which Boston leads 3-0. Tip-off from Gainbridge Fieldhouse is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Celtics vs. Pacers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Boston rallied from an 18-point deficit and escaped with a 114-111 win in Saturday’s Game 3 but failed to cover as a 7-point road favorite. F Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 36 points, 10 boards and 8 dimes. G Jrue Holiday scored 5 of his 14 points in the final 39 seconds, including a 3-point play to give the Celtics their 1st lead since early in the 2nd quarter — Boston trailed by as many as 18 points. Holiday also came up with a big steal with 3.1 seconds left before hitting 2 free throws to complete the scoring.

G Andrew Nembhard led the Pacers with 32 points and 9 assists, while start G Tyrese Haliburton sat out with a hamstring injury — he’s listed as questionable for Monday. Indiana had 4 players eclipse the 20-point mark Saturday, but nobody else on the roster scored more than 4 points.

Celtics at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 118, Pacers 114

Moneyline

PASS.

Boston (-275) should complete the sweep, especially if Haliburton doesn’t play for Indiana (+230), but the Celtics are far too heavy favorites to risk betting on at the -275 price. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN PACERS +7.5 (-110).

Indiana has covered the spread in 2 of the 3 games this series and is 4-1 in its last 5 overall vs. Boston. The Pacers are also 3-0 ATS in their last 3 home games, while the Celtics are 0-2 ATS their its last 2 road games.

This is only a lean because the health of Haliburton is still in question. If he doesn’t play, don’t expect the Pacers to keep this one close and don’t expect Nembhard to have as good of a game as he did Saturday to keep them in this one.

Over/Under

BET OVER 222.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in 5 consecutive games for both Indiana and Boston and is 7-3 in each team’s last 10 games. The Over has also hit in all 3 games of this series and is 7-3 in the last 10 Indiana-Boston matchups.

Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Indiana Pacers welcome the Boston Celtics to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals Saturday. The Celtics lead the series 2-0. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Celtics vs. Pacers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Celtics defended home court and won the first 2 games of the series. They won Game 2 126-110, closing as 9-point favorites, and Game 1 in overtime 133-128. The total cleared with ease in both games with it closing respectively at 224 and 223.

Boston has won 5 straight games and 9 of its last 10. Over that span, it is 6-4 against the spread (ATS). The Celtics were 41-36-5 ATS over the course of the regular season and 1-2 straight up and ATS on the road against the Pacers.

The Pacers, who lost the first 2 games of their series with the New York Knicks yet advanced after winning Game 7, are 8-7 ATS in their 15 playoff games. Indiana has won 4 of its last 7 and is a perfect 6-0 straight up at home.

Celtics at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 114, Celtics 110

Moneyline

SPRINKLE PACERS (+220).

For a smaller unit than the ATS wager, take the Pacers to win outright. They have won 6 straight at home and should be playing with elimination-game energy, as they’ll need to this to have any hope in the series.

Indiana beat New York by 5, 32 and 13 at home and beat Milwaukee by 3, 13 and 22, so many of those games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse weren’t close either.

Back PACERS (+220).

Against the spread

BET PACERS +7 (-108).

The Pacers aren’t typically home underdogs and are 4-2 ATS at home in the playoffs despite their 6-0 straight-up record. Indiana has been terrific for bettors as a home underdog this season, posting an 8-3-1 ATS record. The Pacers are also the best team in the NBA following a loss at 26-14-2 ATS, playoffs included.

The Celtics are just 1-3 ATS over their last 4. Expect the Pacers to be able to keep things close and rebound after their Game 2 loss. Back PACERS +7 (-108) for a full unit.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 223 (-110).

The Pacers play at too quick of a pace to suggest anything else here. The total has cleared with ease in both games as the Celtics have topped 125 points in each.

Indiana is 4-0 O/U in its last 4 and 7-3 O/U in its last 10. The Celtics have gone north of the total in 4 straight as well and are 6-2 O/U in their last 8. Considering those trends, back OVER 223 (-110).

Boston Celtics at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Celtics at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 123, Pacers 111

Moneyline

AVOID.

Unless you’re confident in the Pacers pulling off another upset over the No. 1-seed Celtics then it’s not worth wagering on the moneyline in this contest.

Against the spread

BET CELTICS -8.5 (-105).

These teams are going in opposite directions and the Celtics understand how important each game is down the stretch with the Bucks right behind them in the standings. Boston is 6-0 ATS in its last 6 games overall and Indiana is 0-4 ATS in its last 4 games following a win.

Over/Under

OVER 232.5 (-110) is the lean here with F Jayson Tatum and F Jaylen Brown coming off spectacular performances in the All-Star Game. This is also a pace-up game for Boston and Indiana has the 8th-worst defensive rating in the NBA.

The Celtics are 4-0 to the Over in their last 4 games overall and the Over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these teams.

Celtics at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 112, Celtics 109

Money line (ML)

Let’s take the value with the PACERS (+100) as even-money underdogs at home. They just beat the Celtics 108-107 Sunday and covered the spread as 2.5-point underdogs.

PF Domantas Sabonis is leading Indiana with 24.3 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. SG Victor Oladipo sat out Sunday’s contest for rest but should return with 22 points scored in each of his two games this season.

The Celtics have been struggling without Walker to start the season. F Jayson Tatum and SG Jaylen Brown are averaging 25.0 and 26.0 PPG, respectively, but no other player is in double digits and only PG Marcus Smart is averaging more than 4 assists per game (6.3 APG).

Boston will get right eventually and contend in the Eastern Conference, but it won’t start in a rematch against the balanced attack of Indiana.

Against the spread (ATS)

Take the insurance and go with the PACERS +1.5 (-115), though it’s not as rewarding as the money line play. It’ll serve us well to hedge against some potential late-game free throws. The two teams split last season’s head-to-head series 1-1 with both games played within a 5-point margin.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the OVER 218.5 (-110). Sunday’s contest saw a total of just 115 points scored, but the two meetings in the 2019-20 campaign saw totals of 139 and 125 points scored.

The fear is with the Celtics struggling to hold up their end of the bargain with Walker’s absence hurting ball movement, but Oladipo’s return to the lineup will provide a boost to the overall total.

Celtics at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Celtics 117, Pacers 108

Money line (ML)

The Celtics got Grinch’d on Christmas in a 123-95 loss at home as 3-point underdogs vs. the Brooklyn Nets. It rained Nets 3’s in Boston as Brooklyn sank 15 of 29 3-pointers (seven more than the Celtics). Brooklyn also did a great job getting to the foul line and made twice as many free throws as the Celtics.

The Pacers offense looks updated and a little scary under first-year head coach Nate Bjorkgren. Indiana has scored 121 and 125 points in its first two games albeit vs. the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls but still, the Pacers are rolling bad teams. You cannot knock them for the schedule.

We’re inherently getting some value on the Celtics in this spot since they took a 28-point whooping on Christmas (a high-profile game) and the Pacers are a top-six Eastern Conference team.

The score looked terrible, granted, but there are positives to take away from that Bucks-Celtics game. Boston had more assists, points in the paint and rebounds than the Nets. Brooklyn just made tough shots. That’s going to happen when you’re playing against superstars.

Let’s say Boston has a get-right game and picks up a nice win. I am betting CELTICS (-135) for 1.5 units.

Against the spread (ATS)

If you go through my handicapping history, you’ll see how rarely I’ll play a favorite on the money line. The Celtics’ -135 ML price is nearly the cutoff point, and if I’m going to lay an extra 35 cents on the dollar to take Boston, I’ll have to PASS on the spread.

No way I’d take the Pacers plus points. That’s a strategy I’d never use pregame (taking the favorite on the money line and the underdog plus points). However, if you want to live bet a dog as a middle or hedge, now that’s a different conversation.

Over/Under (O/U)

Let’s BET OVER 220.5 (-110) for just a half-unit. We are fading the perceived sharp side as more money is on the Over while the Under has more action, according to Pregame.com.

I have a hunch this is sharp money is a robotic play on two traditionally strong defenses playing each other at the end of the week. Well, the season just started Tuesday so I don’t think fatigue is coming into play.

More importantly, the Pacers are playing at a faster pace and jacking more 3’s, and the Celtics feature two elite wings— PF Jayson Tatum and SG Jaylen Brown—who are coming into their basketball primes.
