Celtics bringing back “Passing the Torch” interview series

The Boston Celtics are bringing back the “Passing the Torch” video series pairing Celtics legends with current members of the team as each imparts some of the wisdom that drove the team’s success in their times.

The Boston Celtics are bringing back the “Passing the Torch” video series for a second season.

The video series, which juxtaposes current Celtics with Boston luminaries of the past, will resume February 17th.

Described by the team as a means of bridging different eras of excellence through conversations between the players who produced it in their respective times in green and white, the series created a number of compelling conversations between Celtics past and present in 2019.

The previous iteration paired now-Brooklyn Net point guard Kyrie Irving with Hall-of-Fame floor general Bob Cousy, wing Jaylen Brown with legendary forward Satch Sanders, and Marcus Smart with team president Danny Ainge.

For the coming season, the preview video hints at interviews this season between swingman Jayson Tatum and four-time All-NBA forward Tommy Heinsohn, Grant Williams and two-time champion big man Dave Cowens, and point guard Kemba Walker and beloved wing Paul Pierce.

The series should be available both on the team’s webpage and YouTube channel a week from today as a new generation of contention begins for the Massachusetts franchise.

Powered by the veteran leadership of Walker, the most vocal of Boston’s seven-man rookie class in Williams and the budding superstardom of Tatum, the Celtics will be well-represented in the series.
