The 76ers ended the regular season 2nd in true shooting percentage (60.8%). Most other aspects of Game 3 were similar (offensive rebounding, free-throw attempts/percentage), so the 76ers, who are 31-13 at home this season, should bounce back.

The Celtics also struggled on the road in their 1st series, going 2-1 yet failing to win by double figures in either victory. Put it all together and take the 76ERS (+120).

Against the spread

PASS.

This isn’t necessarily a bad play either way, and after Game 3, the spread makes sense here. I think the Sixers, who haven’t had a game finish within 3 points this postseason, should come out on top. With that in mind, I’d prefer the plus-money moneyline odds over the spread, so I’d pass this one.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 214.5 (-110).

Both teams shot under 45% in Game 3, and they still went Over the 214 total. Boston has gone Over in 6 of its last 7 games and was 43-38-1 O/U during the regular season.

SPRINKLE on the 76ERS (+115) with the plan of hitting their spread harder because no one should be favored over the Sixers in Philly based on how C Joel Embiid has performed since the beginning of 2022.

Embiid is averaging 33.5 points on 51.6% shooting with 11.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.6 blocks in his 20 games played since Jan. 1 and the Sixers are 14-6 SU in those games.

Embiid has also dominated the Celtics throughout his career, averaging 26.5 points and 12.3 rebounds with a plus-12 net rating in 17 career games versus Boston.

This is a buy-low spot for Philly and a sell-high spot for Boston. The Sixers handled their biggest issue by sending Ben Simmons to Brooklyn for Harden and it feels like Philly got a jolt of energy from the front office.

The Celtics are riding high but haven’t played a team in the top 10 of net rating during their current eight-game win streak.

Again, just SPRINKLE on the 76ERS (+115), if at all, because Philly’s spread is the sharper play.

Against the spread

Definitely BET the 76ERS +3.5 (-115) heavier than or instead of their money line.

Philly is 7-0 ATS in its last seven meetings with Boston and the Sixers are 6-2 ATS when being spotted 3-4.5 points while the Celtics are 3-6 ATS when laying 3-4.5 points.

Nearly 85% of the cash wagered is on Boston (according to Pregame.com), which has steamed the Celtics from a pick ’em on the opener up to the current number.

That type of line movement reeks of recency bias and an overreaction to the trade of G Seth Curry and C Andre Drummond. Curry didn’t play well for weeks and Drummond is a journeyman.

For the record, the 76ERS +3.5 (-115) is my favorite wager in this game.

Over/Under

PASS.

I “lean” to the Under 209.5 (-115) because both teams play at a bottom-seven pace, Boston is 3-10 O/U as a road favorite (minus-8.4 total margin) and Philly is 2-5 O/U as a home underdog.

However, early bettors hammered the Under so that oddsmakers lowered the total down from the 213.5-point look-ahead total, per Pregame.com. We’d be getting late to the party on the Under at this point.

Philadelphia has now covered in three of their last four games against divisional opponents. You could certainly go either way here, but the 76ers appear to be the sharp play on Friday night.

UNDER 222.5 (-110) is the right play here as the Celtics won’t have their leading scorer on the floor. Both defenses are allowing just over 110 points per game and we know these divisional games can tend to be a bit of a slugfest. Take the Under here as both teams could struggle to score more than 110 points.

The Boston Celtics (8-4) are in the City of Brotherly Love Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off against the Philadelphia 76ers (9-5) at the Wells Fargo Center. Below, we analyze the Celtics-76ers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Boston has split its previous two games following a seven-day layoff due to postponements caused by COVID-19 issues. The Celtics crushed the Orlando Magic 124-97 Friday and then got destroyed 105-75 by the New York Knicks Sunday. Both games were in Boston.

The absence of All-Star C Joel Embiid really hurt a 76ers top-10 offense during a 106-104 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday. The 76ers shot 28% from behind the arc and turned the ball over 23 times.

Embiid is projected to be in the starting lineup Wednesday as is SG Seth Curry, who has missed the last six games after testing positive for COVID-19. Curry was averaging an incredible 60.3% from the field and 59.5% from 3 before the hiatus. Philadelphia was 7-1 (5-2 against the spread) in its first eight games and with its full starting lineup.

The 76ers won last season’s regular-season series 3-1 (3-1 ATS) but were swept in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs by the Celtics.

Philadelphia beating Boston in the 2019-20 season series was more of a blip on the radar than it was something to latch onto moving forward. Also, we still don’t know how 76ers will look vs. good teams.

They marched out to a 7-1 record and appeared to be an Eastern Conference contender under first-year head coach Doc Rivers. The absence of Curry has made a big difference to the 76ers and their highly anticipated regular-season meetings with the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat were minimized due to COVID-related absences.

I’m still of the thinking that Philadelphia needs to prove itself against quality competition. I lean CELTICS (+155) for a tiny wager only because the better play is Boston plus the points.

Against the spread (ATS)

The market is split currently on Celtics-76ers with a slight majority of the money (sharps) on Boston but a slight majority of the bets placed (average joes) on Philadelphia. As much as Tatum not being there hurts the Celtics in the long run, that intel is baked into this line.

Boston PG Kemba Walker made his season debut against the Knicks this past weekend and he was great in two of the Celtics’ regular-season wins over the 76ers last season. Additionally, SG Jaylen Brown is low-key playing at an All-NBA level and is probably Boston’s MVP at this point in the season.

TAKE CELTICS +4.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

For what it’s worth, the total has been steamed up from a 218-point opener to the current number so the market is betting the Over. I lean UNDER 221.5 (-110) initially because four of the past six Celtics-76ers games have gone Under the total, but the market movement makes me PASS ON THE TOTAL.
