WATCH: Cedric Tillman mosses defender for a big gain vs. Eagles

The high school teammates continue to connect!

He did it in practice against the Philadelphia Eagles, and now he did it in a game setting as well. Wide receiver Cedric Tillman climbed the latter on a double-move deep ball to create separation before going up and high-pointing a deep ball from quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson in the third preseason game.

The first drive of the Browns stalled as running back John Kelly Jr. fumbled the football at the goalline. However, Thompson-Robinson was poised and electric on the opening drive, connecting with his high school teammate in Tillman multiple times.

Stay peeled for more content throughout this matchup.

3 players to watch in Thursday’s preseason game vs. Eagles

Who should you keep an eye on Thursday?

The Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles wrapped up their joint practices on Tuesday as the teams prepare to face off in the preseason matchup. After seeing a majority of the starters last week against the Commanders they are all set to not play in the game. This gives young players like Austin Watkins the chance to continue to prove themselves.

The fight for the final roster spots in the wide receiver room continues with Marquise Goodwin and Jaelon Darden continuing to be sidelined. Rookies Cedric Tillman and Luke Wypler have had solid starts to their preseason careers.

Let’s take a look at three players you need to keep your eye on Thursday night.

The rookie wide receiver is making a splash

The Cleveland Browns added another wide receiver to the room in the third round of the 2023 NFL draft, selecting Cedric Tillman out of Tennessee. His debut against the New York Jets in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game was a stellar one, and now he is making waves as the Browns and Philadelphia Eagles engage in joint practices this week.

Skying above veteran cornerback Avonte Maddox, Tillman pulled down a leaping grab in the endzone. Expect the rookie wide receiver to play a plethora of snaps right away (around 15-20) and to make an impact when on the field.

The Browns got a good one.

The Cleveland Browns host the Washington Commanders for their second preseason game Friday.

With that said, here’s a look at three rookie matchups to watch between the Browns and Commanders.

Updated 53-man roster prediction post-Pro Football Hall of Fame Game victory

What has changed after the first preseason game?

The regular season draws closer and closer as the Cleveland Browns prepare for their second preseason game Friday against the Washington Commanders. After the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, the team made some roster changes, some of which were due to injury, that could present some interesting opportunities for other players.

Siaki Ika was the only defensive tackle that showed anything in against the Jets leading some to believe they will still add a veteran at some point. With Daylen Baldwin waived with an injury designation and Marquise Goodwin still out there is an intriguing chance for Austin Watkins who looked good in the Hall of Fame Game.

Overall there aren’t a ton of changes to the 53-man roster prediction after this first week but there are some changes that could be intriguing to follow.

Former Vol Cedric Tillman debuts with Browns

4 takeaways from Browns’ first depth chart of the 2023 season

What conclusions can we draw from the release of the initial depth chart?

The Cleveland Browns get set to take on the New York Jets on Thursday Night as they participate in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game. And on the heels of their preseason opener, the Browns have released their initial depth chart.

While it is unofficial and predominantly standard, there are a few key items that cause an eyebrow to raise from this depth chart. Here we discuss four things that stood out as the Browns are through one week of training camp and get set to take on the Jets.

Predicting the Browns’ wide receiver room statistics in 2023

What will the numbers look like for the wide receivers in 2023?

In a week’s time, the Cleveland Browns will be playing football again when they take on the New York Jets in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game on August third. So far this offseason it was clear that Andrew Berry knew he needed to add talent and diverse skill sets to the wide receiver room (already headlined by Amari Cooper) for Deshaun Watson.

With Elijah Moore, Cedric Tillman, and another offseason for David Bell this room has some potential to make a splash this season. So what could the statistics look like when the dust settles on the 2023 season? For this exercise, I took Watson’s statistics from 2020 when he completed 382 passes to determine reception numbers while saving targets for the tight ends and running backs.

Marquise Goodwin is not on this list because of the uncertainty around the blood clots.

Kevin Stefanski praised rookie WR Cedric Tillman after practice on Tuesday

Stefanski went out of his way to praise rookie WR Cedric Tillman after the #Browns’ practice session on Tuesday

The Cleveland Browns seem secure with their selections in the 2023 NFL draft, and with mandatory minicamp underway, it seems that one rookie is standing out more than the rest.

Third-round pick Cedric Tillman caught head coach Kevin Stefanski’s eye during workouts on Tuesday and was the subject of comments after practice. Stefanski was sure to praise all rookies for being quick learners but singled out Tillman as a top performer.

“I think Ced [Cedric Tillman] has done a nice job,” The head coach said, “like a lot of our rookies he’s swimming at times. We’re throwing a lot of information at them, he’s very very very intelligent, so he’s getting it, but it’s a lot. We don’t want to give them just pieces of it, we want to give them everything and just make them feel how much they have to work at this thing. A lot of our rookies, Ced included, are inundated with information and meetings and he’s doing a really nice job.”

Cleveland will lean on the younger members of their roster throughout the 2023 season as they look to get back to playoff contention after a disappointing 7-11 last year. With the likes of Tillman to help buoy their offense, the Browns should have plenty of help to that end if his development is progressing the way Stefanski described on Tuesday.
