Former Tennessee football player Cedric Houston has been named an assistant coach at Grace Christian Academy in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Houston, a running back, played for the Vols from 2003-06 under head coach Phillip Fulmer. He will coach running backs and defensive backs for the Rams under head coach Justin Price.

In 2006, he and Gerald Riggs Jr., became the first two running backs to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a single season.

Houston was a three-year starter at Tennessee and a two-time second-team All-SEC performer (2005-06). He totaled 2,634 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns. Houston also recorded 39 receptions for 369 yards and one receiving touchdown.

He was selected in the sixth-round of the 2006 NFL draft (No. 182 overall) by the New York Jets.

The former Vol played two seasons for New York, recording 676 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Houston also posted 15 career receptions for 109 yards.
