Prediction
Lakers 115, Cavaliers 102
Moneyline (ML)
The Lakers (-1429) are a monster moneyline favorite in this contest after winning eight straight games. They’ve been a dominant home team this season and would be a surprise to see the Cavaliers upset them at the Staples Center. However, there just isn’t enough value on either side, so PASS on this bet for better odds on the spread.
New to sports betting? A $10 wager on the Lakers to win outright would return a profit of just 70 cents.
Line/Against the Spread (ATS)
The CAVALIERS (+13.5, -106) open this game as double-digit underdogs to the Lakers. While Los Angeles has the conference’s best record, it hasn’t always fared well against the spread. In fact, the Lakers have failed to cover the spread in six straight games against opponents from the Central Division. While Cleveland certainly isn’t a top-flight opponent, 13.5 points are just too many to surrender for the Lakers. Give me the Cavs to cover this monster spread.
Over/Under (O/U)
The total for this matchup is set at 217.5, which feels just about right. While the over seems like a safe bet here, there is no telling from night to night which Cleveland offense will show up. The Cavs are currently 26th in scoring and will face one of the best defenses in the NBA Monday night. While I expect Cleveland to cover the spread, don’t look for it to get into a shootout against Los Angeles. I like the UNDER (+105) to hit in this one.
