The Cleveland Cavaliers (46-28) battle the Brooklyn Nets (39-33) on Tuesday. Tip from Barclays Center is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Cavaliers vs. Nets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Cleveland defeated Brooklyn 115-109 on Tuesday to cover as a 4-point road favorite in the front end of this 2-game head-to-head set. It has now won back-to-back games and is 7-3 straight up (SU) in its last 10. The Cavaliers are 6-4 against the spread (ATS) in that span to improve to 39-32-3 ATS this season.

The defeat was the Nets’ 4th loss in a row both SU and ATS. Brooklyn is 5-5 SU and 6-4 ATS over its last 10 games, improving to 36-34-2 ATS this season.

The Cavs and Nets have split the season series 1-1 thus far with the Cavs winning Tuesday and the Nets winning 125-117 as 2-point road underdogs on Dec. 26.

Cavaliers at Nets picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 116, Nets 112

Moneyline

PASS.

The moneyline is too steep to present any value on a Cavs (-175) team that has won 4 of its last 5 games and 7 of its last 9.

Against the spread

LEAN NETS +4.5 (-115).

While the Nets are currently on a 4-game skid, they are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 1 day of rest and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as underdogs of 4.5 or more points.

This will be Cleveland’s 3rd time this season playing back-to-back road games against the same team; it is 1-1 SU/ATS in the second leg of those matchups. It is also 2-2 ATS in its last 4 road games. While dominant ATS at home this season, the Cavs are just 16-19-2 ATS on the road.

The Cavaliers are also just 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 meetings in Brooklyn.

Over/Under

BET OVER 218.5 (-115).

The Over is 4-0 in the Cavs’ last 4 road games, 4-0 in their last 4 games following an outright victory, 4-0 in their last 4 following an ATS win and 6-1-1 in their last 8 Thursday games.

The Over is 2-0 in both matchups these 2 have played this season and 7-2 in their last 9 meetings overall.

The Cavs and Nets both rank in the top 10 in offensive rating per NBA.com. That equates to higher-scoring games that will aid the Over in cashing.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 8 seed Cleveland Cavaliers head to the Barclays Center Tuesday to play the No. 7 seed Brooklyn Nets in the first play-in tournament game in the Eastern Conference. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Cavaliers vs. Nets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Cleveland backed into the play-in tournament due to piling injuries to key players after a red-hot start to the season. Post-All-Star break, the Cavs are 9-15 straight up (SU) and 8-15-1 against the spread (ATS) with a minus-2.8 scoring margin

Brooklyn had a chaotic season, to say the least. The Nets had to deal with PG Kyrie Irving’s vaccination status and PF Kevin Durant’s injury woes. Plus, they traded SG James Harden for PG Ben Simmons, who hasn’t played in a game since June 20, 2021, and might not suit up this postseason, but the Nets have the second-shortest odds to win the East.

They are 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS versus the Cavs this season with the Over/Under going 2-2.

Cavaliers at Nets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 115, Cavaliers 111

Money line

PASS with a heavy “lean” to the Cavaliers (+320) because this payout is so fat. I typically will sprinkle on an underdog’s ML when betting it to cover the spread.

However, Durant is at the peak of his powers and has dominated Cleveland this season. KD averaged 28.7 points on 66.0% true shooting (.509/.538/1.000) with a plus-13 net rating in 3 games versus the Cavs this season.

The bottom line is Cleveland has no answer for KD and I cannot get down on the Cavaliers (+320) beating the Nets because KD can single-handedly win this game.

PASS.

Against the spread

GIMME the CAVALIERS +8.5 (-115).

Brooklyn’s defense isn’t reliable enough to be laying this many points. Even if Brooklyn gets out to a big early lead, a backdoor cover is always a possibility since the Nets rank 20th in defensive rating.

Brooklyn has underperformed expectations in this spot all season long. Brooklyn is the league’s worst covering team as a home favorite at  5-26-1 (minus-7.8 ATS margin). The Nets are also 3-9 ATS as 7.5- to 9.5-point favorites and 6-14-1 ATS at home versus teams with a winning record.

Furthermore, a vast majority of the cash and action is on the Nets, according to Tipico Sportsbook, so we can fade a lopsided market and get on the same side as the House.

The two recently faced off Friday in a seesaw battle, which was a lot closer than the final score indicates. Brooklyn won 118-107 but Cleveland led at the end of the third quarter and outperformed the host Nets in the three of the “four factors.”

If the Cavs can finish off defensive possessions by cleaning the glass, they will keep this close.

CLEVELAND +8.5 (-115) is my favorite wager in this game.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 228.5 (-112) because we’re seeing reverse-line movement heading south of the total and there are a bunch of situational trends that suggest this will be a low-scoring game.

According to Pregame.com, more than three-fourths of the action is on the Over, but the total has been lowered from a 230.5-point look-ahead total to the current number. It’s a red flag whenever sportsbooks make the more popular side cheaper.

Finally, Cleveland is 11-16 O/U as a road underdog, Brooklyn is 12-20 O/U as a home favorite and these teams are a combined 36-44 O/U versus opponents with a winning record.

It’s only a LEAN to the UNDER 228.5 (-112) since I just mentioned how unreliable Brooklyn’s defense can be.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (43-37) and Brooklyn Nets (42-38) will each play the penultimate game of their seasons Friday with a 7:30 p.m ET tip-off at Barclays Center. Below, we look at the Cavaliers vs. Nets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Cavaliers currently hold a one-game lead over the Nets for the seventh seed in the East, but they’ve really struggled as of late and fell out of the top-6 after going 3-7 in their last 10 games.

Cleveland has lost its last two games, most recently 120-115 to the Orlando Magic Tuesday despite being an 8-point favorite. The Cavs are just 1-2 against the Nets this season, though they did cover the spread twice.

The Nets have won their last two and currently sit eighth in the East. If they hold that spot and the Cavaliers remain seventh, it’ll set up a matchup between these teams in the play-in tournament. The Nets have been favored in each of their last seven games but they’re only 2-5 ATS in that span.

Cavaliers at Nets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 117, Cavaliers 112

Money line

Neither of these teams has played particularly consistently as of late. It makes this a difficult matchup to predict, especially with Allen remaining out due to a finger injury.

I think the Nets win outright, but I’m not willing to bet on the money line at -380. PASS.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Nets are only 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as favorites. The Cavs have covered in each of their last two games as underdogs and are 2-2 ATS in their last four as underdogs.

Cleveland is also 2-1 ATS in three games against the Nets this season. The Cavs’ defense will keep this game competitive, even without Allen, which is why I like the CAVALIERS +7.5 (-107).

Over/Under

The Over/Under is set on the higher side at 232.5. That’s 10.5 points higher than any of the three matchups between these teams this season; two previous meetings had projected totals under 210.

I like the UNDER 232.5 (-110) in this one. The total has gone Under in each of the Nets’ last four games, too.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (9-6) travel to Barclays Center Wednesday to take on the Brooklyn Nets (10-5). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Cavaliers at Nets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Surging coming into Tuesday’s matchup with the Golden State Warriors, the Nets were throttled, losing 117-99. They were down as much as 28 points as two-time MVP Stephen Curry erupted for 37 points.

Brooklyn looks to bounce back as it’s still among the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Led by Kevin Durant, who is coming off his worst shooting performance of the season, Brooklyn will enter this as heavy favorites.

As for the Cavaliers, they’ll be expecting a ton from G Darius Garland since rookie Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Collin Sexton (3 of their top-5 scorers) will be out.

Cleveland will be near 10-point underdogs on the road despite having impressed to start the season.

Cavaliers at Nets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 108, Cavaliers 96

Money line

PASS on the money line.

The Nets have two former MVPs. They are deserving of being -600 favorites, especially against an injured Cavaliers team. However, it’s still regular-season NBA basketball, and that’s too much risk for me to feel good about.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the NETS -9.5 (-112) as Cleveland is just too injured. They’re down their best center, Allen, who is playing at an All-Star level.

Garland has been playing much-improved basketball in his second season, but he’ll draw G Bruce Brown. While Ricky Rubio has exploded a few times, he’s still shooting under 40% from deep.

The Cavaliers also have the third-worst turnover ratio. Especially down three of their top-five players, I expect them to struggle against the length of Brooklyn. Also, the Nets have the second-best true shooting percentage.

Brooklyn should be able to get back on track with the high-level talent it has. The Nets also have the sixth-best defensive field goal percentage, so their defense is a bit underrated as well.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 206.5 (-110) as it’s the better side of the total.

The Cavaliers have scored under 100 points in three straight games, so even if the Nets do get to three digits, unlike their last outing, the Under still has a good chance of hitting.

With Rubio not shooting a good percentage and Garland being limited without big men to lean on, the Cavaliers are in a bad position offensively for this game.

The Nets defense ranks second in defensive three-point percentage. The Cavaliers don’t rely heavily on the three which may coincide with their 22nd-best offensive rating.

Also, neither team turns the ball over at a high rate, so the opportunities in transition may be limited, hurting the pace. Brooklyn and Cleveland are respectively 10th and 26th in pace.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Brooklyn Nets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (22-49) and Brooklyn Nets (47-24) wrap up the regular season Sunday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Cavaliers vs. Nets odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers have won just once across the past 13, and they’re just 1-11-1 against the spread (ATS) in the stretch dating back to April 23. The Under has connected in their past three outings, with the Cavs scoring 105 or fewer points in six straight.

The Nets are on a four-game win and cover streak. Believe it or not, however, Brooklyn is 0-2 SU/ATS in two meetings vs. Cleveland this season, with the Over going 2-0.

The Nets (-800) will cost you eight times your potential return, and that’s not worth the risk even though Brooklyn should be able to drum Cleveland.

Against the spread (ATS)

The NETS -12.5 (-110) are looking for some revenge after falling in a pair of games in Cleveland in mid-January. It’s a different world now as the Nets are headed to the playoffs and the Cavs are headed for the golf course. Brooklyn should be able to rout Cleveland in this one.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 225.5 (-110) is the play as the Cavs have had difficulty putting points on the board lately. Cleveland has posted 105 or fewer points in six straight, and 107 or fewer in 10 of the past 11 outings. While the Nets will be able post plenty of points, the lean is to the Under here.
