Cavaliers at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 118, Kings 111

Moneyline

The Cavaliers (-210) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return, which is still a bit risky despite the disparity of records between them and the Kings.

PASS, and look to the line instead.

Against the spread

CAVALIERS -5.5 (-105) is the play, as they have cashed in 8 of their 10 games overall this season. It’s going to be a close shave, although Cleveland was able to cover an identical number in a 114-100 win on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday.

The Cavaliers are 4-1 ATS in the past 5 games on the road and 4-1 ATS in the past 5 against losing teams. While the Kings are 7-2 ATS in the past 9 meetings with the Cavs, this is a new-look Cleveland team playing its best ball in a while. Back the road team.

Over/Under

Play the OVER 224.5 (-110), but go lightly.

While the head-to-head trends lean heavily to the Under, going 5-0 in the past 5 meetings in this series and 4-0 in the past 4 in Sacramento, the Over is worth the play here.

The Over is 17-8 in the past 25 games overall for the Cavaliers while going 17-7-1 in the past 25 road outings dating back to last season. Cleveland ranks 7th in the NBA with 116.3 PPG too, while hitting 3-pointers at the 2nd best rate (39.9%).

On the flip side, Sacramento ranks 25th with 116.8 PPG allowed, and it is 26th in 3-pointer defense, allowing 38.1% from behind the arc.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Sacramento Kings odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Sacramento Kings and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Both the Cleveland Cavaliers (22-18) and the Sacramento Kings (16-26) play the second night of back-to-back games when they meet Monday at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Cavaliers vs. Kings odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Each team took a double-digit loss Sunday when the Cavs got dropped by the Golden State Warriors 96-82 as 8-point underdogs in Klay Thompson’s first game back and the Kings lost to the PorTrail Blazers 103-88 in Portland as 2-point favorites.

Cleveland is 2-5 straight-up (SU), 1-4-1 ATS and 3-4 O/U over the last two weeks with the 20th-ranked adjusted net rating at minus-4.1 points per 100 possessions, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Sactown is 3-5 SU, 3-5 ATS and 4-4 O/U during that same time span with the 24th-ranked adjusted net rating at minus-7.9 points per 100 possessions, per CTG. The Kings are currently on a four-game losing skid.

Cleveland crushed Sacramento 117-103 Dec. 11 in their first meeting, easily covering as a 6.5-point home favorite. The last four Cavaliers-Kings meetings have gone Under the total.

Cavaliers at Kings odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 112, Kings 103

Money line

PASS even though I expect Cleveland to roll past Sactown here because the Cavaliers (-210) is a little out of my price range for an NBA regular-season favorite.

The Cavs are 3-1 SU and ATS as road favorites with a plus-13.8 scoring margin whereas the Kings are 6-8 SU as home underdogs with a minus-6.2 scoring margin.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the CAVALIERS -5.5 (-107) only because we are starting to see some regression from Cleveland. The Cavs have won just two of their last seven games and have covered in just one of those contests.

However, most of the situational trends point to Cleveland covering here. The Cavs are 13-6-1 ATS on the road, 11-5-1 ATS after a loss, 11-6 ATS versus Western Conference foes and 4-2-1 ATS on zero rest days.

On the other hand, the Kings are 10-13 ATS at home, 5-7 ATS versus Eastern Conference opponents and 3-5 ATS on the second of a back-to-back.

Over/Under

BET the UNDER 219.5 (-110) for 1 unit because Cleveland ranks 20th in offensive rating this month and Sacramento ranks 24th.

Both teams also played Sunday and have a combined 4-11 O/U record in the second of a back-to-back.

Also, the Cavs are 8-12 O/U on the road, the Kings are 9-14 O/U at home and Cleveland is 5-11-1 O/U versus Western Conference teams.

The UNDER 219.5 (-110) is my favorite wager in this game.
