The Cleveland Cavaliers (15-0) match up in the NBA Cup against the Boston Celtics (11-3) Tuesday at TD Garden. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. (TNT) Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Cavaliers vs. Celtics odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Celtics won 2-1 last year

The Cavs made the Charlotte Hornets their latest victim 128-114 as 10-point favorites Sunday. F Evan Mobley led the charge with 23 points and 11 boards as G Donovan Mitchell sat out. Four players dropped 20 points in the affair as the Cavs moved to 15-0.

The Celtics staved off the Toronto Raptors in a 126-123 victory Saturday as 16.5-point favorites. G Jaylen Brown had 27 points, 7 dimes and 6 boards, and F Jayson Tatum has 24 points, 11 boards and 9 assists. The Celtics dispatched the Cavs in 5 games in the playoffs last season.

Cavaliers at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 121, Cavaliers 117

Moneyline

This game feels a lot like the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills game from last weekend. The Chiefs had not lost since Christmas Day, and the Chiefs had a lot of fluky wins, and they went to Buffalo and got beat.

That’s what I feel is about to take place here, but the books clearly agree with the champs at -225.

Instead, I’m going with JAYSON TATUM OVER 6.5 ASSISTS (+110). He has been facilitating the offense of late with 9, 10 and 8 assists in his last 3 games.

Against the spread

I like the Cavs’ side here. They’re 11-4 ATS this year, and the Celtics are 7-7. Cleveland covered 2 of the 3 regular season meetings last year. If this were a 2.5-3.5-point spread, I’d consider Boston.

But I’m going CAVALIERS +5.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Each team has cashed 3 straight Overs. Boston has gone for 116+ in 3 straight games. Cleveland has gone for 114+ in 4 straight. I look for a fast-paced game where one team may gain separation, but the gap will be closed late.

Take the OVER 234.5 (-105).

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics meet for Game 2 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 2nd-round series Thursday. The Celtics lead the series 1-0. Tip-off from TD Garden is set for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cavaliers vs. Celtics odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers advanced past the Orlando Magic in 7 games, but Cleveland has been terrible on the road in this postseason. The Cavs lost 120-95 in the opener in Game 1 at TD Garden, and Cleveland has lost 3 of its 4 playoff games on the road by at least 23 points, including a franchise-worst 38-point loss in Game 3 of the Orlando series. It is also 0-4 against the spread (ATS) in those games, and 1-5 ATS in the past 6 playoff games.

While Cleveland was shooting just 41.1% from the field in Game 1, including a dismal 26.2% (11-of-42) from behind the arc, Boston was a solid 48.9% from the floor, and 39.1% (18-of-46) from downtown. The good news for the Cavs is that they turned it over only 5 times, but the C’s held a plus-17 rebounding margin at 55-to-38.

Boston has won 4 in a row against Cleveland at TD Garden, and it has covered the past 2. The Over (211) in Game 1 snapped a 2-game run to the Under, but the Over is 6-2 in the previous 8 meetings.

Cavaliers at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 119, Cavaliers 103

Moneyline

The Celtics (-1000) will cost you a cool 10 times your potential return, which is never worth it, whether betting a heavy favorite straight up, or as part of a multi-team parlay. Including the C’s in a parlay sucks all of the value out of the ticket.

As bad as the Cavaliers (+600) have been on the road, you can’t risk $100 for every $10 won. That’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward.

PASS.

Against the spread

The CELTICS -13.5 (-110) are laying a giant number, but the way the Cavaliers +13.5 (-110) have performed on the road in this postseason, it actually might not be high enough.

Cleveland has lost 3 of its 4 playoff games on the road by at least 23 points, and while it took great care of the basketball in Game 1, it was still trampled. The Cavs shot poorly, they were outrebounded greatly, and Cleveland struggled at the free-throw line, too.

While the Cavs had lost the 2 meetings in regular season at TD Garden by an average of just 8.0 PPG, they were waylaid in Game 1 by 25.

Over/Under

OVER 212.5 (-105) is a high number, but it’s worth a play in Game 2.

The books have bumped up the total significantly from Game 1, by 2 total buckets, but that might not be enough.

Cleveland has allowed 114.0 PPG in 4 road postseason games, including 120+ points in 2 of those outings. Cleveland’s offense has produced 97 or fewer points in 6 of 8 playoff outings so far, so that’s the risk. But the C’s had their way in Game 1, and it’s hard to believe things are going to change defensively for J.B. Bickerstaff’s crew in Game 2.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics meet for Game 1 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 2nd-round series Tuesday. Tip-off from TD Garden is set for 7 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Cavaliers vs. Celtics odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers had their issues with the Orlando Magic in the 1st-round series, winning in 7 games. The home team was a perfect 7-0 straight up (SU), while Cleveland ended up going just 3-4 against the spread (ATS), including 0-3 SU/ATS on the road in the series. The Over/Under alternated in the past 6 games.

The Celtics made quick work of the Miami Heat in their 1st-round series, winning in 5 games. While Boston let up in Game 2, falling 111-101, that was its only loss and non-cover of the series. The other 4 games were not only victories but wins by 14 or more points with 3 of the wins coming by 20 or more points. The Over went 2-1 in 3 home games for the C’s.

These teams met 3 times in the regular season, twice in Boston and once in Cleveland. The home team went 3-0 SU, while the Cavs went 2-1 ATS. The Under cashed in the past 2 meetings, including a 105-104 win by the Cavs as 8.5-point underdogs March 5 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

Cavaliers at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 113, Cavaliers 105

Moneyline

The Celtics (-600) will cost 6 times your potential return. That’s way too much risk for not nearly enough value.

In addition, Boston last played May 1, so it’s almost been an entire week of rest. On the flip side, the Cavaliers (+425) just played Sunday in a Game 7 against Orlando. While they might be a little on the tired side, they do have momentum, and won’t have as much rust.

Cleveland played Boston tough all season, too. The Cavs have been a disaster on the road in the playoffs so far, though, and that’s against a mediocre Magic team.

PASS.

Against the spread

The CAVALIERS +11.5 (-110) are the play as a double-digit spread is an awfully big number.

While Cleveland lost by a franchise-worst 38 points in Game 3 in Orlando, and by 23 points in Game 4, it fell by just 7 in Game 6, playing a lot better as the series went on.

The Cavs played the Celtics tough all season, losing by an average of 8.0 points per game (PPG) in 2 meetings at TD Garden this season.

Over/Under

OVER 208.5 (-110) might be the best play on the board for Game 1.

While the Under has cashed in the past 2 games in this series, the Over is 5-2 in the past 7 meetings. We had 3 OT games during that 7-game span, too, as the Cavs have been a thorn in the side of the Celtics.

Boston is likely to win the series opener, and it will likely take the series in rather short order, too, but Cleveland won’t make it easy.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (39-25) and Boston Celtics (44-18) square off Wednesday. Tip-off from TD Garden in Boston will be at 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Cavaliers vs. Celtics odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers snapped their 3-game losing skid Sunday by beating the Toronto Raptors 118-93 as 7.5-point home favorites. They’re now 7-3 straight up and 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 games. Cleveland ranks 26th in points per game (111.9) but it allows the fewest points per game in the NBA (106.5).

The Celtics snapped their 3-game win streak with a 109-94 loss at the New York Knicks Monday as 2-point favorites. Boston has still won 7 of its last 10 games and has covered the spread in 7 of its last 10, too. The Celtics own the 4th-highest-scoring offense in the Association (117.7 points per game)

Cavaliers at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 115, Cavaliers 111

Moneyline

PASS.

These are two good defensive teams who are pretty evenly matched, as evidenced by their first 2 meetings of the season which both went into overtime. The Cavaliers won both games, 132-123 (in Boston, Oct. 28) and 114-113 (in Cleveland, Nov. 2), so the Celtics will be trying to snap their head-to-head skid to Cleveland.

I’m not confident enough in the Celtics (-200) to bet them outright at such a big price tag.

Against the spread

The Cavaliers covered the spread as underdogs in each of their first 2 meetings with the Celtics this season and own an ATS record of 33-28-3. The Celtics have also been a good bet against the spread with a record of 33-28-1, though Boston has been 1 game better ATS in the last 10.

Cleveland’s defense will keep this one close and that’s what helped the Cavs cover the spread in their first 2 meetings with Boston.

BET CAVALIERS +5.5 (-118).

Over/Under

The total has gone Over in 5 of the Cavaliers’ last 10 games and in 6 of the Celtics’ last 10. In their 2 meetings earlier this season, the total went Over both times, clearing by 7 points and 36.5 points, respectively.

The total has gone over in 21 of the Celtics’ 31 home games this season, and I think that will continue Wednesday — especially with the total set lower than usual due to both teams’ defenses.

BET OVER 218.5 (-110).

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers (3-1) visit the defending Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics (3-1) Friday. Tipoff from TD Garden is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Cavaliers vs. Celtics odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers are riding hot on a 3-game win streak after starting their season with a 108-105 loss at the Toronto Raptors Oct. 19th. All 3 of their wins have come vs. Eastern Conference opponents.

Newly acquired G Donovan Mitchell is looking like a phenomenal pickup at this point of the season, leading the team with 28.5 points and 7.3 assists per game. C Jarret Allen has not lost a step after being selected to his 1st All-Star Game last season and is averaging 13.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, the latter of which leads the team.

The Celtics dropped their last game 120-102 at the Chicago Bulls Monday. That was their 1st defeat on the season after a 3-0 start.

Superstar F Jayson Tatum is looking like an early-season MVP candidate with averages of 32.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, which both lead the team. The big 3 of Tatum, G Jaylen Brown, and reigning Defensive Player of the Year G Marcus Smart are looking to make it back to the Finals after losing in 6 games to the Golden State Warriors last year.

Cavaliers at Celtics picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 115, Celtics 108

Moneyline

BET 0.3 UNITS ON CAVALIERS (+205).

The Celtics are missing their 2 best interior defenders and will be facing one of the best frontcourts in the NBA.

Against the spread

BET A FULL UNIT ON CAVALIERS +6.5 (-115).

This is your BEST BET for this game. The Cavs are a very scrappy team that will prove in this game why they are a legitimate contender to win the East. They have enough talent to come away with the win despite missing one of their all-stars with Garland sidelined.

The Cavaliers lead the NBA in average points differential (+12.5), and while I don’t believe they will win this game by that large of a margin, the hot streak that they are on will carry into this game — even as the away team.

If you want to take part in this full-unit bet and add it to the moneyline wager, go for it. Just don’t bet more than 1.3 units combined between the 2 wagers.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 218.5 (-112).

Both of these offenses are ranked in the top half of the NBA in points per game, but neither is outstanding. The Celtics are missing a lot of defenders due to injuries/suspensions and the Cavaliers should be able to score in the paint at will.

Expect both team’s stars to carry them heavily in this game, but the fast break is where the Cavaliers should push this OVER 218.5 (-112).

Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Boston Celtics odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Celtics (15-16) host the Cleveland Cavaliers (19-12) Wednesday at the TD Garden for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we look at the Cavaliers vs. Celtics odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Cleveland has won six straight and covered 14 in a row with its latest being a 119-90 beatdown of Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Milwaukee Bucks Saturday.

Over the past two weeks, the Cavs are 6-0 straight-up (SU), 6-0 ATS and 4-2 O/U with the best non-garbage time net rating (plus-23.2 points per 100 possessions), according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Boston fell to the Philadelphia 76ers, 108-103, Monday as 3-point home favorites and have alternated between winning and losing over the past five games. The Celtics are 2-4 SU, 2-3-1 ATS and 3-3 O/U with the 16th-ranked non-garbage net rating (minus-2.6 points per 100 possessions), per CTG.

This is the rubber match between these teams after they split the first two meetings in Cleveland earlier this season, but the Celtics covered in both.

Cavaliers at Celtics odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 111, Cavaliers 96

Money line

PASS since the likelihood that Boston wins is pretty high, but the Celtics (-250) is way too expensive for an NBA regular-season money line favorite. Especially during this COVID surge that has the NBA adjusting testing and roster policies mid-season.

Against the spread

BET the CELTICS -6.5 (-105) for 1 unit because Cleveland’s major edge—its frontcourt—has been negated due to a COVID outbreak within the Cavs.

For instance, both Allen and Mobley are sidelined due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols, and even backup C Ed Davis will be out as well. This forces PF Kevin Love and F Dean Wade into the starting 5 and to play a little out of position.

The bottom line is the dropoff between Allen and Mobley will be too big for the Cavs to overcome. Cleveland isn’t sneaking up on anyone at this point—everyone in the NBA knows the Cavs can play—and the Celtics have both All-Stars in the projected starting lineup.

Finally, according to the Yahoo! Sports app, roughly 70% of the money and bets placed are on the Cavs. I definitely prefer fading a public underdog who’s missing two of its best players.

BET the CELTICS -6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Under 216.5 (-115) since both teams have better defensive than offensive ratings and they have a combined 24-37-1 O/U record this season.

However, outside of that, I don’t have much on this total. It’s tough to predict how the Cavs will play Wednesday with all their missing players. There’s a chance Cleveland speeds this game up and randomizes it with a 3-point barrage.
