NFL Cash Spending 2021 – 2023 đź’°
The #Browns are spending $80m more than 2nd place & $168m more than league average
It is actually sustainable based on their balanced spending model, my article from April https://t.co/LvV007DOjJ pic.twitter.com/2Uccffpp85

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently strapped for cap, and their spending in previous years is a big reason.
24/7 Sports’ Jack Duffin charted out every NFL team’s cash spending from 2021-23, and the Bucs slotted in at No. 13 on the list of 32 NFL teams. Despite being in the top half of the league in spending across the last three years, the Bucs are currently the sixth-lowest spenders in 2023.
The Bucs were the third-highest spenders in 2021, when the team went 13-4 and lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the playoffs. The team was the 11th-highest spender in 2022, very close to their average. QB Tom Brady was likely a big part of the team’s spending across the last three years, as is WR Mike Evans, who currently has the biggest cap hit on the team.
Cash spending is different from the salary cap and cap room, which is why Tampa Bay has the lowest cap space in the league while being its sixth-lowest spender. The Bucs found success across the last three years in winning the division twice, but it’s going to be harder this upcoming season without the ability to spend as they have.
