Carey McLeod to represent Jamaica in Olympic Games

UT track and field athlete Carey McLeod to represent Jamaica in Olympic Games.

Tennessee redshirt sophomore Carey McLeod is headed to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic Games.

McLeod qualified to represent Jamaica in the Olympics later this month.

He will compete in both the long jump and triple jump after making the Jamaican National Team at the JAAA Senior championships.

The three-time Southeastern Conference champion and six-time NCAA All-America standout is the only athlete in the world to qualify for both horizontal jumping events. He did so after posting top-3 finishes in both events during the qualifiers.

McLeod finished second in the long jump with a leap of 8.14 meters (26 feet, 8.5 inches). He was third in the triple jump, posting a mark of 15.98 meters (52-5.25).

Both efforts were his best of the 2021 outdoor season.
