Cardinals vs. Vikings ultimate Week 8 preview

The 3-4 Arizona Cardinals and 5-1 Minnesota Vikings will kickoff at 1 p.m. ET in Minnesota this Sunday.

The Arizona Cardinals find themselves in a potentially season-defining game in Week 8. They have the opportunity to get back to .500 with a win against a 5-1 Minnesota Vikings team.

The NFC West is wide open, with the 4-3 Seattle Seahawks currently in first place. They’ll be playing the 6-1 New York Giants, so there’s certainly an opportunity to get even with them record-wise.

If the Cardinals win this game, they are in a great position to make the playoffs in a weak NFC conference. It could also have implications on whether or not they make a trade for an impact player the following Monday, which is the day before the deadline.

Let’s dive into what should be an exciting matchup.

The Arizona Cardinals find themselves in what is undoubtedly the most pivotal game of the season to this point. Sitting at 3-4, the difference between beating the Vikings and returning to .500 or falling to 3-5 is season-defining.

The Vikings and Cardinals haven’t played all that much in recent history, but did last season in what was one of the most entertaining games of the year.

Minnesota is leading the all-time record 17-12 — 15-12 in the regular season and 2-0 in the postseason. Since 2008, the Vikings have won six of the last nine matchups. The Cardinals’ last two wins were in 2022 and 2015.
