C Rodney Hudson might play in final game of season

Kliff Kingsbury ruled out Rodney Hudson for this week but opened the door for a return in the season finale.

Arizona Cardinals center Rodney Hudson is on injured reserve and the hope is that he could return this season from his knee injury. With only two games left in the season, it isn’t expected to happen this week.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Monday that “it doesn’t look good this week,” for Hudson’s return.

Kingsbury indicated that potentially Hudson could return for the team’s final game of the year against the San Francisco 49ers.

“Maybe the last one, but he just hasn’t progressed as we would’ve hoped,” he said.

Hudson has played in only four games this season.

He contemplated retirement last offseason, returned for training camp and has been dealing with a knee issue since his return.

If he can get one game it, it would likely be the final one of his career.

Cardinals hopeful Colt McCoy can start vs. Falcons

Kliff Kingsbury is hopeful McCoy can clear concussion protocol so he can start on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy did not play on Sunday against the Tamp Bay Buccaneers after suffering a concussion in the second half of the team’s Week 15 loss to the Denver Broncos.

He did not clear concussion protocol before the game but the Cardinals are hopeful that will happen this week and that he can return to the starting lineup.

Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters Monday that, as of then, he was hopeful McCoy could return.

McCoy did not practice Wednesday or Thursday but was limited on Friday, which is a step toward returning.

A player must be symptom-free for 24 hours after a return to a regular workload.

The Cardinals will have their first practice of Week 17 preparing for the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday.
