Cardinals officially activate RB James Conner from IR

Conner missed four games and the Cardinals averaged 10.6 points per game in his absence.

The Arizona Cardinals officially get two of their best players back to play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The team announced that running back James Conner was activated from injured reserve.

He had missed the last four games on IR with a knee injury he sustained against the Cincinnati Bengals.

He will return to the lineup in Week 10 against a Falcons team that has allowed 140 or more rushing yards in two consecutive weeks.

In five games this season, Conner has rushed for 364 yards and two touchdowns on 5.4 yards per attempt. The Cardinals, who averaged 22 points per game in the five games he played, have scored only an average of 10.6 points per game in the four he was out.

His return coincides with the return of quarterback Kyler Murray, which could make the Cardinals’ running game special.

The Cardinals made a number of other roster moves as well. Those will be detailed in another post.

James Conner designated to return from IR

Conner is expected to be activated this week and return to the lineup against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Arizona Cardinals opened the door for the return of running back James Conner from injured reserve. He was designated to return from injured reserve, where he has been for the last four weeks with a knee injury.

It opened his practice window, allowing him to practice with the team. The Cardinals have 21 days in which to restore him to the active roster or he would revert to IR for the rest of the season.

Conner injured his knee in the Cardinals’ Week 5 loss at home to the Cincinnati Bengals. They have gone 0-4 since he was placed on IR.

He was limited in his first practice back on Wednesday, but he is expected to ramp up and be activated this weekend to start against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

In the five games Conner has played this season, he has rushed for 364 yards and two touchdowns on 5.4 yards per attempt.

His return along with quarterback Kyler Murray should be a big boost to the Cardinals’ struggling offense.

DeAndre Hopkins downgraded to out, will not play vs. Falcons

He will miss his first game since returning from his six-game suspension.

The Arizona Cardinals made a change to their final injury report Saturday before they traveled to Georgia to take on the Atlanta Falcons Sunday.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was originally listed as questionable for the game after missing practice Friday with a knee issue. On Saturday, when the team was set to reevaluate him and see how he feels, he was downgraded to out.

He will miss his first game since returning from his six-game suspension to start the season.

Facing the 5-10 Falcons, the Cardinals will have quarterback David Blough starting, the fourth quarterback to start for them in as many games. They don’t have Hopkins, Zach Ertz, at least 3 of their starting offensive linemen, Budda Baker, Zach Allen, Byron Murphy, Antonio Hamilton and maybe Marco Wilson.
