The Arizona Cardinals held a full practice on Thursday in preparation from their Week 16 home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their final home game of the season. Their injury report had only change, a player was added.
Wide receiver Marquise Brown had a groin injury pop up and he was limited.
The details of the second injury report are below.
McSorley, after throwing two second-half interceptions against the Broncos, will make his first NFL start Christmas night against the Bucs.
The Arizona Cardinals will face quarterback Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Christman night at home without quarterbacks Kyler Murray or Colt McCoy.
Murray is out for the season with a torn ACL and head coach Kliff Kingsbury ruled out McCoy for the game in Week 16 as he works through concussion protocol.
That means Trace McSorley will make his first career start.
McSorley has appeared in four games this season but got the most work last week, coming in early in the second half to replace McCoy. He completed 7-of-15 passes for 95 yards and two interceptions in a 24-15 loss.
He has appeared in seven games in his career. He has completed 46.2% of his passes for 256 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.
Kliff Kingsbury gave updates about Colt McCoy, Zach Allen and more.
The Arizona Cardinals next play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Christmas night for their final home game of the season. They are coming off a 24-15 loss to the Denver Broncos and suffered more injuries.
Coach Kliff Kingsbury spoke to reporters Monday and gave some injury updates.
Colt McCoy suffered a concussion on Sunday and must clear league protocols before he can play.
The Arizona Cardinals already lost quarterback Kyler Murray for the rest of the season. Their backup, Colt McCoy, is now in league concussion protocols and his status for the Cardinals’ Week 16 home matchup Christmas night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is certainly in doubt.
That means Trace McSorley could end up starting.
McSorley did not fare will in relief of McCoy on Sunday in the Cardinals’ 24-15 loss to the Denver Broncos. He completed 7-of-15 passes for 95 yards and two interceptions.
Of course, he had to play with only few practice reps leading up to the game.
Unless McCoy clears protocols before Wednesday, McSorley will get all the starter reps.
That could mean adjustments.
“We’ll try to adapt to what we think he does best,” coach Kliff Kingsbury said after the game on Sunday. “If he gets this week, we’ll put in things that he likes and he’s comfortable with.”
The team is confident in McSorley’s abilities.
“He’s the guy who will get better with the more reps he has,” Kingsbury said. “We’ve seen him operate at a high level at times.”
