Bengals WR Tee Higgins to miss game vs. Cardinals

Higgins was questionable for the game with a rib injury. He will not play in Week 5.

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins insisted during the week that he would play in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals, despite a rib injury. That will not be the case.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Bengals have ruled out Higgins.

He was officially questionable for the game after missing practice Wednesday and Thursday and getting only limited reps in Friday’s practice.

The Bengals elevated receiver Kwamie Lassiter II from the practice squad for the game.

Higgins suffered the rib injury last week in the team’s 27-3 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Through four games this season, Higgins only has 12 catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

The Cardinals and Bengals kick off Sunday afternoon at State Farm Stadium at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time.

OL Dennis Daley, CB Garrett Williams designated to return, begin practicing

The Cardinals are getting reinforcements in practice this week. They have 21 days to be restored to the active roster.

The Arizona Cardinals get two players back to practice they have not had yet this season. They announced they designated rookie cornerback Garrett Williams and offensive lineman Dennis Daley to return to practice.

Williams is on the NFI (non-football injury) reserve and Daley is on injured reserve.

Both now are eligible to practice and can be activated to the 53-man roster at any point in the next 21 days.

The Cardinals released two cornerbacks and an offensive lineman on Monday, so it would appear that both will be activated this weekend and dress and potentially dress and play on Sunday when the Cardinals host the Cincinnati Bengals.

Williams was on NFI recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last October while in college. He was drafted by the Cardinals in the third round out of Syracuse.

Daley injured his ankle in the preseason finale.

The Cardinals did not designate outside linebacker Myjai Sanders or quarterback Kyler Murray to return. Sanders is on IR with a hand injury and Murray is on the PUP (physically unable to perform) reserve completing his recovery from his torn ACL last season.

If Daley or Williams is not activated to the 53-man roster within 21 days, they revert to the reserves they were on and must miss the remainder of the season.

Cardinals hoping for return of 2 defensive starters vs. Bengals

Jonathan Gannon believes Josh Woods and Jonathan Ledbetter could return this week.

The Arizona Cardinals have been dealing with injuries on defense all season. Safety Budda Baker and defensive linemen L.J. Collier and Carlos Watkins are on injured reserve. Linebacker Josh Woods has missed three games. Linebacker Krys Barnes was basically unavailable for a game. Defensive linemen Leki Fotu and Jonathan Ledbetter have missed games.

The Cardinals play the Cincinnati Bengals this week at home and could get a couple back.

Head coach Jonathan Gannon is hopeful that Ledbetter and Woods will be back.

“I think so. We’ll see,” he said when asked about their return this week. “They’re trending the right way but we’ve got to go through the week of practice and see.”

The first injury report of the week will come out on Wednesday.
