According to Kendrick Perkins, if you see LeBron James sit down at your card table in Las Vegas it’s best you just walk away. Perkins–the former 14-year NBA veteran who was a teammate of LeBron’s with the Cleveland Cavaliers–sat down with The Athletic recently to discuss all things King James heading into LeBron’s 16th All-Star game this weekend.
On the topic of playing cards, Kendrick says that he’s never seen LeBron lose. He added that James may deflect his victories by saying someone else won, but he ends up walking away with a pot that was rightfully his anyway.
Per The Athletic:
“There’s one thing about LeBron. For some reason, when we play cards, he is really just the Chosen One,” said Perkins. “I’ve never seen him lose at anything.
“We will be playing cards and I’d be like, “Who won?’ He’d be like, “Shoot, not me. I lost,” and he’d try to put it on somebody else, but he’d have all the cash in his hand.
“Like he would never lose. I’ve never seen him take an “L.” It was crazy. He’d never lose and I told him, “You’re just the Chosen One. And then like, everything you touch is gold.” I don’t know what it is about him, but he always wins.”
So, in addition to being arguably the greatest basketball player of all-time, we come to find out in his 17th season that LeBron is also an all-time great card player. Maybe we’ll see him in the World Series of Poker one day after he retires.
