The Vancouver Canucks (32-25-11) take on the St. Louis Blues (34-28-7) Thursday. Puck drop from Enterprise Center is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+ / Hulu / Disney+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Canucks vs. Blues odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 1-1 with each team picking up road victories

While most eyes in the sporting world will be on March Madness, this game is possibly the most meaningful game the NHL has seen this season. These teams are tied for the second Wild Card spot at 75 points, but Vancouver has played 1 fewer game than STL. This is the final time these teams meet this season.

The Canucks rolled the Winnipeg Jets 6-2 Tuesday to snap a string of 3 losses in 5 games. RW Brock Boeser, who was rumored to be on the trade block a month ago, scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season. They won 5-2 in St. Louis Jan. 27, and the Blues won in OT 4-3 in Vancouver Dec. 10.

The Blues have been playing playoff hockey all month and are one of the best teams in the league since the Four Nations break at 9-2-2. They’ve won 3 straight after a 4-1 road win over the Nashville Predators Tuesday. RW Jordan Kyrou scored his 28th and 29th goals of the year, and LW Dylan Holloway had 3 assists. Holloway has points in 4 straight with 2 goals and 5 assists, and Kyrou has 8 points in his last 3 games with 5 goals and 3 assists.

Canucks at Blues projected goalies

Kevin Lankinen (24-13-7, 2.53 GAA, .904 SV%, 4 SO) vs. Jordan Binnington (21-21-4, 2.81 GAA, .897 SV%, 3 SO)

Lankinen was in net for the 6-2 win over the Jets Tuesday, stopping 20 of 22. He is 4-4-0 with a 2.63 GAA and .888 SV% in 8 March starts. This will be his fifth start in 9 days, so we’ll see if fatigue becomes an issue. He was in goal for the 5-2 win in St. Louis Jan. 27, stopping 24 of 26.

Binnington stopped 23 of 25 in the 7-2 win over Anaheim Sunday. He is 6-2-0 with a .903 SV% since the Four Nations break. One of those losses came in relief, and one was a stinker against Pittsburgh, but he has been really good since winning Gold with Canada. He was pulled in the Jan. 27 loss to the Canucks after allowing 3 goals on 18 shots in 1½ periods.

Canucks at Blues picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 4, Canucks 3

Moneyline

The Blues’ forecheck is the best it has been in 3 years right now, and they are winning via goal suppression. It’s a lot like the suffocation Vancouver exhibited to make it into the playoffs last year. I could see this one hitting OT, and when that happens, I’m taking Binnington every time.

Take the BLUES (-145).

Puck line/Against the spread

The Canucks are too expensive to take here. Instead, I’ll take BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE 2+ GOALS (-115). The last 3 results have been 5-2, 4-3 and 4-3.

Over/Under

I alluded to this a bit in the last section, but I’m taking the OVER 5 (-145). The Over has cashed in 3 straight meetings and is 5-4-1 overall in the last 10. Each team is 6-4 O/U in their last 10.

Vancouver Canucks at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Vancouver Canucks at St. Louis Blues odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Vancouver Canucks (21-17-10) take on the St. Louis Blues (23-23-4) Monday. Puck drop from Enterprise Center is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Canucks vs. Blues odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Blues lead 1-0 after 4-3 OT winner at Vancouver Dec. 10.

The Canucks outlasted the Washington Capitals 2-1 Saturday to snap a string of 4 losses in 5 games. D Quinn Hughes scored twice to give him 14 goals on the season. The Canucks are still going through it, though. They’ve scored just 13 goals in their last 9 games. They’re 3-5-2 over the last 10 games and sit 3 points behind a Wild Card spot.

The Blues are tugging at the Canucks’ shirt tails, sitting 2 points behind them. The Blue Notes are the epitome of a .500 team, winning 2 games against Calgary they needed and a game in Vegas, but they came home and laid an egg in 2 straight against Vegas and Dallas. The latest was a 2-0 stinker against the Dallas Saturday. They outshot the Stars 38-21 and could not beat their backup tendy.

Canucks at Blues projected goalies

Thatcher Demko (3-5-3, 3.47 GAA, .867 SV%) vs. Jordan Binnington (13-18-3, 2.84 GAA, .898 SV%, 3 SO)

Demko has lost 4 of 5 starts, allowing 6 goals on 34 shots in a 6-2 loss Thursday to the Edmonton Oilers. He is 1-4-0 with a 3.52 GAA and .852 SV% in 6 starts this month. He was between the pipes in the 4-3 OT loss to St. Louis Dec. 10, allowing 4 goals on 25 shots.

Binnington has been feast or famine. In 3 starts this month, he has allowed 4+ goals in each. In 4 other starts, he allowed 4 total. He was between the pipes Saturday against Dallas, stopping 17 of 19. He faced Vancouver twice last season, stopping 55 of 61 fired his way, going 1-1-0 in the process.

Canucks at Blues picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 3, Canucks 2

Moneyline

The Blues have won 3 straight against the Canucks and 8 of 10. They’ve really had their number, and Vancouver just can’t get anything going offensively. This number jumped from -120 once Binnington was confirmed the starter, but ST. LOUIS (-135) is the way to go.

Puck line/Against the spread

The last 3 meetings have ended within a goal, but Vancouver is far too expensive for the insurance.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Blues are 4-4-2 O/U in their last 10, and Vancouver is 4-6 O/U. We’ve highlighted the Canucks’ scoring deficiency, but they always play a heavy, tight-checking game against St. Louis. The Over hit earlier this season, but we’re going with the UNDER 5.5 (-130) here.

Vancouver Canucks at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Vancouver Canucks at St. Louis Blues odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vancouver Canucks (32-26-6) head southeast to take on the St. Louis Blues (35-20-6) Monday at Enterprise Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Canucks vs. Blues odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Canucks have struggled of late, winning just four of the last 10 games. They’re three points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for the last wild-card spot in the West. Vancouver beat the Dallas Stars 4-1 Saturday.

The Blues are reeling. Once firmly entrenched in the playoffs, they’re now just three points from missing the postseason. St. Louis was embarrassed on home ice in a 7-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes Saturday. The team has started slowly and gotten behind far too often in games. This is a must-win for them on the front end of a home-and-home with Vancouver.

Canucks at Blues odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:36 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Canucks +130 (bet $100 to win $130) | Blues -160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Canucks +1.5 (-205) | Blues -1.5 (+155)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +110 | U: -135)

Canucks at Blues projected goalies

Jaroslav Halak (3-6-2, 3.19 GAA, .894 SV%) vs. Ville Husso (16-6-4, 2.43 GAA, .922 SV%, 2 SO)

Halak returns to St. Louis, where he spent much of the prime of his career, and he’s doing so after a great performance against the Colorado Avalanche. He stopped 32 of 33 shots and was a big reason for last week’s 3-1 upset over the Avs.

Husso has really struggled, allowing five goals in two of the last three games. His numbers are still good, but they’re not indicative of how he and the whole team has played the last month or so. Husso shut down the Canucks in January as he stopped 38 of 39 shots in a 3-1 win.

Canucks at Blues odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 5, Canucks 3

Money line

The Blues (-160) are only favored because they’re at home. They NEED this game, and when they play hard, they win by more than one. Let’s PASS  and look to the puck line.

Against the spread

The Blues have been atrocious of late, but the Canucks haven’t been great either. They have averaged 2.8 goals per game over the last 10. The Blues have averaged 3.4 goals. So they are still scoring, but the effort hasn’t been there on backchecking. You can be sure coach Craig Berube has challenged the team to re-focus.

When the Blues win, they win by two or more goals. So if we’re going to back the idea that the Blues right the ship on home ice, let’s do it here. Take BLUES -1.5 (+155).

Over/Under

Even while mired in one of their worst stretches of the season, the Blues are 7-3 against the Over in the last 10. I’m not a fan of 6.5 overs, but the shoe fits here. LEAN OVER 6.5 (+110).
