Canada battles Uruguay in the third-place match of Copa America Saturday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Canada vs. Uruguay odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

Canada did better than many expected in Copa America, and its run might not be over. It lost to Argentina 2-0 in its opening match of the tournament, beat Peru 1-0 and drew Chile 0-0 in the group stage. Canada then took down Venezuela 1-1 (4-3 in penalty kicks) in a quarterfinal match before losing to Argentina 2-0 again, this time in a semifinal. Canada has an impressive roster that is captained by star Bayern Munich D Alphonso Davies. Canada is 48th in the FIFA World Rankings and will enter this match as a hefty underdog.

Uruguay had a wild finish to its semifinal match against Colombia, which won 1-0 despite it having a 1st-half red card. Uruguay, which is led by Liverpool F Darwin Nunez, won all 3 group stage games. It beat Panama 3-1 to start the tournament, took down Bolivia 5-0 and ended the USMNT knockout stage aspirations with a 1-0 victory. Uruguay then beat Brazil 0-0 (4-2 in penalty kicks) before losing to Colombia. Uruguay sits 14th in the World Rankings.

Canada vs. Uruguay picks and predictions

Prediction

Uruguay 2, Canada 1

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Canada (+500) is better than this value gives it credit for. It did play a very solid 1st half against Argentina and has the pace and talent to keep up with a team like Uruguay (-190). However, it is the players not named Davies that are the problem. Canada has high-level talent but not the same caliber depth as Uruguay, and after 5 games in this tournament, that depth may be vital.

At these values, taking anything isn’t suggested. Uruguay is just too expensive for a match that doesn’t mean much, while Canada and a draw (+330) are too risky to suggest.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-142).

Given the nature of this match and the fact that both teams are already knocked out of being able to win it all, expect some more free-flowing offense. The last 2 third-place matches have topped 2.5 goals with the 2021 third-place match between Colombia and Peru finishing with 5.

Uruguay, before being held scoreless in both knockout stage games, tallied 9 goals in its 3 group stage matches. Canada has at least got on the board in 2 of its last 4 games. It did end with 9 shots against Argentina and 16 against Venezuela, so the opportunities should be created. It has competent attacks too like F Cyle Larin, who plays for Mallorca in La Liga.

The style of play should loosen up, and both teams have quality attacking players, especially Uruguay, which arguably should’ve netted multiple goals against Colombia. Considering how this match is expected to be played, TAKE OVER 2.5 (-142).
