Randy Moss found joy in one particular moment from the Vikings win in Week 10

One of those plays was made by Camryn Bynum, who had an interception and then unleashed one of his trademark celebrations.

The Minnesota Vikings didn’t have much to celebrate on Sunday but won the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In that game the offense looked rough, Sam Darnold played his worst game of the season, but the defense made some plays.

One of those plays was made by Camryn Bynum, who had an interception and then unleashed one of his trademark celebrations. Earlier this year, we got The Parent Trap , and on Sunday, we got something new—something so glorious that Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss chimed in.

The Vikings have made themselves known for their celebrations this year, led by Camryn Bynum.

The game as a whole was rather forgetful, with the turnovers and struggles of new tackle Cam Robinson, but at the end of the game, this was able to salvage some happiness from fans and Hall of Farmers alike.

The Vikings will look to bounce back strongly and more impressively against the Titans in Week 11.

ESPN predicts which Vikings player will see a contract extension next

ESPN discussed this week that his work and the potential for another extension for a player might be on the way.

Some, myself included, have questioned Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s work, but his work with contracts is unmatched. He does a great job finding the building blocks for a franchise and not letting them go.

What more could a fanbase ask for?

ESPN discussed this week that his work and the potential for another extension for a player might be on the way. The player for said projected extension was Camryn Bynum. The former California cornerback turned safety has had a breakout role under Brian Flores the last two seasons.

Jeremy Fowler writes, “Bynum discussed an extension in recent months but couldn’t reach an agreement. As of now, he is set to enter free agency. He’s thriving in Brian Flores’ defense, with two interceptions, five pass deflections and a fumble recovery. Making splash plays in a contract year is a way to nudge the team back to the negotiation table. . .”

Bynum coming back will be a big-time decision, but with Harrison Smith being 36 years old and Lewis Cine being gone, perhaps this makes for a no-brainer move.

Vikings’ Camryn Bynum and Josh Metellus steal the show with celebration

The Minnesota Vikings earned another win on Sunday and they did so in impressive fashion, in terms of celebration.

The Minnesota Vikings earned another win on Sunday, and they did so in impressive fashion in terms of celebration. The rest of the game can be up for discussion, but the Vikings’ defense remained on point, both with their execution of the game plan and in celebrating turnovers.

In the second half of the game, the Vikings firmly influenced Aaron Rodgers and Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett in what they felt like they could achieve. Rodgers threw three interceptions against the Vikings defense with one going to Camryn Bynum.

He and Joshua Metellus have been known for having some excellent celebrations, but they decided to step up their game for the London crowd. They went back to the Parent Trap and did the celebration that the British version of Lindsay Lohan’s character does with her butler.

Bynum, as you can see by the tweet below, thought highly of it. How will they top it in Week 4 if they get a turnover?

Pair of Vikings listed among the league’s most underrated players

Running back Aaron Jones and safety Camryn Bynum were listed among the most underrated players in the NFL by CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin.

Despite losing their starting quarterback mid-season, the 2023 Minnesota Vikings came surprisingly close to making the playoffs. One of the major contributors to them falling short was an inability to run the ball on offense all year. Conversely, the play of their defense was one of the key factors in the Vikings even having a chance to make the playoffs at all.

The Vikings made moves in the off-season to address the lack of a running game, and it should come as no surprise that one of those additions, running back Aaron Jones, is listed by CBS Sports’ NFL analyst Cody Benjamin among the most underrated players in the league entering 2024.

Jones has a long history of being productive in the NFL, notching 1,000+ yards in three of the past five seasons, and also adds an element to the passing game out of the backfield that was missing in the Vikings offense last season. Though he’ll be 30 by the end of the season and does have an injury history, he “retains top-flight speed”, writes Benjamin.

Part of the problem with the running game last season was the lackluster blocking up front. Even if that situation doesn’t improve, Jones should be able to make more of it than any of the Vikings’ running backs last year, including Ty Chandler, who can now provide a nice change-of-pace to Jones rather than be relied upon for the bulk of the carries.

On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings’ defense remains largely the same, and that’s a good thing. They kept Minnesota in a number of games they really had no business being in last season, and it was largely due to Minnesota’s other underrated stud: Safety Camryn Bynum.

Bynum has blossomed into the perfect safety complement to long-time stalwart Harrison Smith. As Smith reaches the twilight of his career, it’s time for Bynum to step up and take charge of the Vikings’ secondary. He’s done that with his play over the last two seasons, accounting for four interceptions and 15 passes defended.

The range that Bynum has from the safety position really opens up other defenders to play to their strengths. Smith can be more of a factor up towards the line of scrimmage. Josh Metellus can be moved all around the field and be a chess piece in defensive coordinator Brian Flores’ defensive scheme. Corners can be more aggressive and take chances, knowing they have a rangey safety covering their back.

With these two commanding presences on each side of the ball, expect the 2024 Vikings to be competitive all year long, even with an uneasy situation at quarterback. They did it last year, don’t be surprised if they do it again this year.

Is Camryn Bynum the answer to the Vikings problem at cornerback?

There has been no hiding it: the Minnesota Vikings have had some issues at the cornerback position almost two weeks through training camp.

There has been no hiding it: the Minnesota Vikings have had some issues at the cornerback position almost two weeks through training camp. Besides the devastating loss of Khyree Jackson to his family, forget about football.

There have been other events that, while they don’t compare, do keep happening within the same position group.

The season-ending injury to Mehki Blackmon, a torn ACL, was a gut punch. That was followed up by Shaq Griffin suffering a hamstring injury, and we know those injuries can linger throughout the entire season. The team has been actively signing three free-agent defensive backs, but none will likely be worthy of being opposite Byron Murphy Jr. in the pass-happy NFC North.

One solution already on the roster is college cornerback Camryn Bynum, who became an NFL safety once drafted by the Vikings.

Bynum was a middle-tier cornerback prospect in the 2021 draft class. The Vikings’ move to safety for him has proved to be a great one, as he has outplayed his draft capital and is poised to be extended by the team.

But what about moving him back to cornerback, just for the season?

His PFF coverage grades in college were favorable. He earned an average grade of 75.2, with his highest grade coming in his sophomore year when he graded out at 82.4.

The preseason is all about moving the chess pieces around and seeing what strategies work. Bynum making a move to cornerback is simple, it makes sense, and it is the band-aid solution this team needs.

Defense wins the day during first padded practice at Vikings Training Camp

The defense has been a question mark all offseason but so far in camp, especially with pads on, they seem to be leading the race.

The defense has been a question mark all offseason, but so far in camp, especially with pads on, they seem to be leading the race. The offense is loaded with star power like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Aaron Jones, but the quarterback play remains questionable.

Sam Darnold is what he is, but J.J. McCarthy will have some hiccups. But according to Will Ragatz, Brian Flores and defense have been full-throttle regarding aggressiveness and success. His recap of the first day of pads was blunt but clear: the offense has some work to do.

“Overall, this practice was mostly won by the defense, I thought. Flores is giving both quarterbacks all they can handle by sending his usual array of complex, aggressive blitzes. There was frequent traffic in the backfield. Outside of a big Aaron Jones run on the one of the day’s first reps, the offense couldn’t get a whole lot going in standard 11-on-11 action.”

It is very early in camp, but if the offense is going to struggle, then this defense is going to be tasked with handling a lot of tough offenses in 2024. The defense wasn’t expected to have such a role, but perhaps we will start to be more realistic about a journeyman quarterback and rookie quarterback with mechanics issues being corrected.

WATCH: Camryn Bynum makes a special play in Training Camp

Camryn Bynum has been making plays ever since he was drafted by the Vikings but on Monday it was a special play he made in training camp.

Several Minnesota Vikings players have made great plays in training camp, but the defense has not seen any. On Monday, the Vikings social media teams changed things up and posted a play made by Camryn Bynum for the world to see.

The play came against Sam Darnold, who has had an up-and-down camp thus far, but it was yet another turnover. Darnold has been building up a streak of days throwing interceptions in camp. While the turnovers aren’t great, they are a good sign that the defense is ready to step up.

Camryn Bynum decided to step up and make the biggest play of camp on Monday. As seen by the video, Bynum comes from offscreen to make a diving interception to show that despite how tough the defensive back situation the Vikings may be facing,  they are able to make plays still.

Training camp continues to roll on for the Vikings as they near their first preseason game.

Is safety the strongest position group for the Vikings?

Position can have a sort of renaissance that sometimes occur when they bring in a new coordinator, for the Vikings safeties that happened.

Position groups can have a sort of renaissance that sometimes occurs when they bring in a new coordinator for the Vikings safeties that happened. The talent has always been there on paper, but in 2023, we saw them take a big step forward, and others have noticed.

Mike Clay of ESPN says the Vikings’ safety group is the biggest strength on the roster. The group, led by Harrison Smith, has also seen the emergence of Camryn Bynum and Josh Metellus.

“Minnesota is the only team with three safeties on the roster who played at least 900 snaps last season. Harrison Smith, Camryn Bynum and Josh Metellus (who got some work at slot corner) were all on the field for at least 94% of the Vikings’ defensive plays, and the trio combined for 342 tackles. Smith is still playing solid ball as he enters his age-35 season.”

The defense really shined during the 2023 season with the emergence of Bynum and Metellus. Smith was an established difference-maker on that side of the ball, but the youth infusion will lead this defense into the next generation.

The team brought in more youth in the draft and in free agency. They brought in a franchise rookie quarterback who is poised to be the guy for the next ten years, with a strong defense led by the safeties they can have faith in things going the way they want.

Vikings safety Camryn Bynum has his sights set on the Super Bowl

In an interview with NFL Network’s “The Insiders”, Minnesota Vikings safety Camryn Bynum shared that he has his sights set on the Super Bowl

There are many reasons to doubt the Minnesota Vikings heading into the 2024 season. They lost their starting quarterback from last season, Kirk Cousins, and a major contributor on defense in Danielle Hunter. For many, the prospect of heading into the season with either a rookie quarterback in J.J. McCarthy or veteran journeyman and former first-round bust Sam Darnold does not instill confidence.

However, the goals this season are lofty for at least one Vikings player. In an interview on NFL Network’s “The Insiders”, Vikings starting safety Camryn Bynum shared where his sights are set this season:

I expect a Super Bowl. Everybody says that, and everybody should say that. But you look at the guys on the team, you look at the locker room, all the experience we have. Look how much depth we have, especially on the defense. So many guys. It’s almost weird looking around, you’re like, ‘Okay, how are we all going to get on the field?’ There’s just so many ballers.

The Super Bowl is a lofty goal, and I would expect most players to answer with if you asked them their goals for the season. That said, Bynum is likely to be disappointed in the end result this season, as a Super Bowl run would be an extraordinary feat for this team.

Expecting the Vikings to exceed their projected win total and even qualify for the playoffs may be a more realistic goal for the 2024 squad, but reaching the NFL’s promised land is probably a bit beyond the team’s reach at this juncture.

Cam Bynum recognized as a top earner in performance-based pay

Minnesota Vikings safety Camryn Bynum was recognized as a top earner in performance-based pay for the 2023 season

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the top 25 earners of performance-based pay for the 2023 season. Minnesota Vikings safety Camryn Bynum was recognized as earning the 15th-most in performance-based incentive pay with $785,489, only $154,511 short of doubling his base salary of $940,000.

After initially moving from cornerback to safety, Bynum was tasked with learning two vastly different defenses in the past two years. From the beginning of the season, it was clear he was comfortable in his role alongside safety Harrison Smith, holding down the backend.

Bynum set career highs in pass deflections (9), interceptions (2), forced fumbles (3) and tackles for loss (2).

Bynum’s breakout performance against the San Francisco 49ers helped give the Vikings a signature win at a pivotal point in the season. After a brutal 2-4 start, there were talks of Minnesota possibly being sellers at the upcoming trade deadline and essentially throwing away the rest of the 2023 season.

Bynum had other plans. He made his presence known early and caused havoc the entire day against the eventual NFC Champion 49ers. He had both of his interceptions, nine total tackles (seven solo), and two pass deflections. For his performance, Bynum was recognized as the NFC Player of the Week.
