Broadcast information revealed for Duke basketball exhibition against Arizona State

A Wednesday report included new broadcast details for the Duke basketball exhibition against Arizona State.

[autotag]Bobby Hurley[/autotag] makes his return to Cameron Indoor Stadium next month, and according to a Wednesday report from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Blue Devils fans around the country can watch him coach against his alma mater.

Rothstein said the scrimmage between Duke and Hurley’s Arizona State Sun Devils, which tips off at 7:00 p.m. on October 27, will air on ACC Network.

The scrimmage, which was confirmed on August 21, will raise money for the Duke Children’s Hospital.

Hurley has been the head coach at Arizona State since the 2015-16 season, and the Sun Devils have four 20-win campaigns and three NCAA Tournament appearances with him at the helm. Arizona State struggled down the stretch last season, losing 11 of their final 14 games after an 11-7 start, but Hurley led his squad to 23 wins and a semifinal appearance in the Pac-12 conference tournament in 2022-23.

Duke basketball hosts NC State and North Carolina in consecutive home games

The 2024-25 Duke men’s basketball schedule was revealed on Tuesday night, and the two biggest home games come within one week of each other.

The Duke men’s basketball schedule for the 2024-25 season was revealed on Tuesday, and the two biggest home games on the calendar come within six days of each other.

The Blue Devils host NC State, their in-state rival who eliminated them from last year’s NCAA Tournament, at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday, January 27. The very next game? The first of two battles against the North Carolina Tar Heels the following Saturday, also on home court.

The Blue Devils built a 27-21 lead after the first half in last year’s Elite Eight battle, but NC State scored 55 points over the final 20 minutes to storm back and win the South Region as the No. 11 seed.

The Wolfpack also bounced Duke from the ACC Tournament to even reach the March Madness field.

UNC swept Duke in their 2023-24 rivalry matchups, first a 93-84 win in Chapel Hill before clinching the regular-season conference title in Durham with an 84-79 win in the finale.

The Blue Devils only return two starters from last year’s team, so it’ll be up to top-ranked freshman [autotag]Cooper Flagg[/autotag] to exact revenge on the two programs, but fans will certainly have that week circled.

Cooper Flagg turns a steal into a transition dunk in Duke basketball practice

The Duke basketball team practiced at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday night, and Cooper Flagg got his first dunk in the storied arena.

The Duke Blue Devils practiced in Cameron Indoor Stadium for the first time on Monday night, and it didn’t take top-ranked freshman [autotag]Cooper Flagg[/autotag] very long to establish his presence in the arena.

The Duke social media team posted a clip of Flagg intercepting a pass from new teammate [autotag]Mason Gillis[/autotag], a transfer from the Purdue Boilermakers. The steal gave Flagg a free runway to the hoop at the other end of the court, and the Maine native easily converted the opportunity into a two-handed dunk.

Blue Devils coach [autotag]Jon Scheyer[/autotag] has praised Flagg for his effort on the defensive end throughout the entire offseason, and the presumed No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft went on The Brotherhood Podcast earlier this summer and described himself as someone who takes pride in doing the little things correctly.

All of the team’s offseason content, from Monday’s clip to scrimmage videos, only validates the idea that Flagg will instantly be one of the best defenders in the sport.

Gillis got a little redemption later in the practice with a contested 3-pointer over freshman 7-footer Khaman Maluach, something he excelled at with his old school. The fifth-year senior made 46.8% of his triples in 2023-24.

Duke basketball shares a photo of the new Cameron Indoor Stadium videoboard

The Duke Blue Devils shared a new photo of Cameron Indoor Stadium’s shiny new toy, a massive videoboard suspended over the court.

The shiniest new toy on Duke’s campus showed its face on Friday.

The Blue Devils shared a photo of Cameron Indoor Stadium’s new videoboard on social media, the massive black screens suspended above the iconic court.

Duke first announced the videoboard project back in April, just a few weeks after the end of the postseason. According to the school’s release about the project, the new board features more than 900 square feet of screens. That number is boosted by the ovular shape, opting for a wrap-around look instead of sharp corners.

The photo confirms what the school said back in the spring, this new feature will be ready for the 2024-25 college basketball season. The Cameron Crazies get to see their new teams on the new screen at Countdown to Craziness on October 4, and the men’s basketball team hosts Duke legend Bobby Hurley and his Arizona State team for an exhibition later that month.

Duke basketball fans will get their first look at Cooper Flagg and the 2024-25 roster during Countdown to Craziness, now set for October 4.

Countdown to Craziness, Duke basketball’s fall preview event for Blue Devils fans, finally has an official date.

The 2024-25 Duke basketball team will make its Cameron Indoor Stadium debut on October 4, the team announced on Wednesday.

The fan event, which starts at 7 p.m. Eastern time, will feature both the men’s and women’s basketball teams. That means the Cameron Crazies get their first look at [autotag]Cooper Flagg[/autotag], [autotag]Khaman Maluach[/autotag], [autotag]Kon Knueppel[/autotag], and the incoming men’s basketball recruiting class while also getting introduced to five-star signees Arianna Roberson and Toby Fournier on the women’s team.

The main event of the evening will be Duke’s Blue-White scrimmage, the unofficial start of the 2024-25 season. The Duke basketball team will be divided into two squads and square off against each other for the first game action of the year.

Flagg appeared on The Brotherhood Podcast earlier this week and gave Duke fans a quick breakdown of his game, his all-time Blue Devils starting five, and more.

ESPN shares feature on Duke basketball fan who attended UNC game for Make-A-Wish Foundation

ESPN released a feature on Tuesday showing Duke basketball fan Bradee Vance meeting the team and attending a rivalry game against UNC.

Countless people across the United States consider themselves die-hard Duke basketball fans, but few can measure up to West Virginia teenager Bradee Vance. Earlier this year, Vance experienced a one-of-a-kind Blue Devils journey to commemorate that fandom.

ESPN released a feature on Tuesday about Vance, a high schooler who was diagnosed with Alport syndrome at age 13. The disease, which attacks blood vessels in the kidney, required a transplant back in 2022. His aunt provided one of her kidneys for the replacement.

After the successful operation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation took Vance and his family to see the Blue Devils play North Carolina at Cameron Indoor Stadium earlier this spring. Vance and his family got to walk onto the court and sit in the team meeting rooms the night before the rivalry game, and head coach [autotag]Jon Scheyer[/autotag] embraced Vance and talked with him.

During a meeting with the team, senior captain Jeremy Roach presented Vance with a custom-made Blue Devils jersey bearing his last name.

He and his family also spent some time with five-time national champion [autotag]Mike Krzyzewski[/autotag] during the day of the game.

Duke fans can watch the full feature down below, an incredibly well-made tribute to his family and their journey.

Cameron Indoor Stadium to add to new videoboard for 2024

Duke announced Tuesday that there will be a massive new videoboard in Cameron Indoor Stadium set to debut in the fall of 2024.

Duke announced on Monday that it will add a new video board to Cameron Indoor Stadium, which will debut in the fall of 2024.

The new video board will feature more than 900 square feet of screens for everyone in the arena to see, twice the size of Cameron’s previous display. The new feature will be hung from the center of the building and hang over the court.

Renovations will be ready for next basketball season, and the school has already started to take down the old videoboard. The Duke men’s basketball’s social media posted a farewell to the old screens on Tuesday.

According to a release from the university, the new videoboard will have three seamless displays wrapped around the entire structure or three separate images. The largest screen, the main display, can either show one huge image (such as the action on the court below) or be segmented into different zones, so Blue Devils fans can see replays or live statistics without ever losing track of the game on the court.

The Duke men’s and women’s basketball seasons get underway in November.

Take a trip down memory lane with the best photos from Jeremy Roach’s four-year career at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Few Duke players have been as integral to Duke’s recent history as Jeremy Roach.

The senior guard and the last remaining starter from the Mike Krzyzewski era was honored during senior night on Saturday, his last home game wearing a Blue Devils jersey.

The 6-foot-2 Virginia native helped lead Duke to a Final Four appearance two seasons ago, and in his final year, he’s shooting 44.2% from beyond the arc and averaging 14.3 points per game.

He finished his final regular season with 1,408 career points, 35th on Duke’s all-time scoring list with a full postseason ahead of him.

Take a trip down memory lane with the best photos from Roach’s career at Cameron Indoor Stadium, where he shared a locker room with some of the most recognizable figures in the program while becoming one himself.

The best photos from Duke’s final night at Cameron Indoor Stadium in the 2023-24 season.

Duke and the Cameron Crazies got one last game at the beloved stadium on Saturday night.

Duke may have lost to hated rival North Carolina, an 84-79 game doomed by a nightmarish opening five minutes. However, the Blue Devils fans got to fill the bleachers one last time with their face paint and the best outfits of the year.

The game also served as senior night, since it was the last home game of the season. Four-year starter Jeremy Roach was honored for his exceptional Duke career, and Ryan Young and Spencer Hubbard shared the moment as they stood with their teammates and framed jerseys.

Here are the best photos from Duke’s last home game of the 2023-24 season.

Notre Dame pulls away in third quarter to beat Duke

Notre Dame needed to bounce back after a tough home loss to NC State.

Notre Dame needed to bounce back after a tough home loss to NC State. Doing that against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium wasn’t going to be easy. But the Irish got it going at the right time and ended the Blue Devils’ nine-game home winning streak with a 70-62 victory.

The first two-and-a-half quarters saw five ties and eight lead changes. That’s when the Irish (19-6, 9-5) decided to quit messing around. Trailing by three, they scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter and ultimately outscored the Blue Devils (16-9, 8-6) in that frame, 21-9. The Irish’s lead grew to as much as 15 during the fourth quarter, and they held off a late Devils push for the win.

[autotag]Hannah Hidalgo[/autotag], held to a season-low 10 points in the defeat to the Wolfpack, bounced back with 23 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. [autotag]Maddy Westbeld[/autotag] scored 14 points and came within a rebound of a double-double. [autotag]Sonia Citron[/autotag] had 12 points and matched Hidalgo with four steals of her own.
