Cameron Boozer is the fifth-highest-ranked Duke basketball commit since 2000

Cameron Boozer, the five-star forward who committed to Duke on Friday, is one of the school’s highest-rated commits of this century.

Cameron Boozer, a 6-foot-9 power forward from Miami, announced his commitment to the Duke Blue Devils on Friday morning.

While the five-star Columbus High School product is technically the No. 2 overall player in 247Sports’ Class of 2025 rankings, he’s also one of the top-ranked Duke basketball commits of the century.

According to the popular recruiting website, Boozer is the fifth-best high school player to commit to the Blue Devils since 2000. Only Cooper Flagg, RJ Barrett, Marvin Bagley III, and Josh McRoberts sit above him on the all-time list.

The newest Blue Devil jumped above names like Dereck Lively II, Jahlil Okafor, Paolo Banchero, Kyrie Irving, and Zion Williamson.

While Flagg, the presumed No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, hasn’t played a minute of regular-season basketball yet, the rest of Boozer’s company makes a promising case for how good he can be in 2025-26. Barrett averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in his first season with the Blue Devils, and Bagley finished with 21.0 points and 11.1 rebounds.

Boozer’s twin brother, Cayden, also committed to the Blue Devils. The 6-foot-4 point guard is 247Sports’ No. 21 player in the class and the 40th overall Duke basketball commitment this century.

Cameron and Cayden Boozer announce commitment to Duke basketball

2025 prospects Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twin sons of Duke basketball legend Carlos Boozer, committed to the Blue Devils on Friday.

Cameron and Cayden Boozer, two of the top prospects in the Class of 2025, announced their joint commitment to the Duke Blue Devils on Friday.

The twin sons of former Duke basketball star Carlos Boozer, the Columbus High School products chose the Blue Devils over the Miami Hurricanes and Florida Gators.

Cameron, a 6-foot-9 power forward and 247Sports’ second-best prospect in the class, is considered one of the most dominant high-school talents in the country. He led the Explorers with 22.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game as a junior. He remains locked in a battle with fellow five-star AJ Dybantsa for the top spot in the recruiting rankings, and Cameron is considered the player with the highest floor among his classmates.

“Boozer is the surest thing in high school basketball,” 247Sports Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein wrote in his scouting report. “He has an extremely versatile and mature two-way floor game. It’s just hard to envision a scenario where he’s not a successful basketball player at the highest levels for years to come.”

Cayden, for his part, averaged 12.0 points and 7.6 assists per game. As the No. 21 player on the 247Sports 2025 rankings, he brings prototypical size to the position at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds. He’s considered one of the best and most efficient passers in the class, finishing his junior season with a 2.49 assist-to-turnover ratio.

The Boozers become the first 2025 commitments for Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer and his staff. The Blue Devils did make the final three for five-star small forward Shelton Henderson on Thursday, however, so another stacked recruiting class could be on the way.

The Boozer twins joining Duke is a bigger win than getting Cooper Flagg

Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer announced their collegiate decision and they will play men’s college basketball at Duke.

Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer announced their collegiate decision and they will play men’s college basketball at Duke.

This is a major win for Duke men’s head basketball coach Jon Scheyer, who officially landed a commitment from one of the top recruits in the nation for the second year in a row. Cameron Boozer is currently the No. 2 player in the class of 2025 and his brother, Cayden, is No. 21 in the class.

It is not exactly shocking that the twin brothers will attend the same school as their father, Carlos Boozer, who won an NCAA title at the university in 2001. But it is majorly impactful for Scheyer.

Plus, t was reportedly not a lock that these incredible basketball players would go to Duke. So for the program to land them both over Miami and Florida was a major win in an era post coach Mike Krzyzewski.

COOPER FLAGG: Every NBA franchise should be praying to the basketball gods for after he cooked Team USA

This news comes one year after the coach also received a commitment from Cooper Flagg, who is the No. 1 player in the class of 2024.

We project that Flagg will also hear his name called as the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, though, so his stay in the NCAA will likely not be long.

Flagg is an elite prospect and joins Wembanyama as one of the best we have evaluated in recent years. But he is just one player who will only be on Duke campus for a few months.

The Boozer twins will headline a Duke recruiting class as two top-tier NCAA prospects. Even though Cameron is almost certainly a one-and-done prospect like Flagg, perhaps Cayden decides to stay an extra year in college. It isn’t an impossible thought!

Plus, it should inspire more highly-touted recruits to play alongside them.

That means Scheyer may have just landed more than two seasons of college basketball in one fell swoop, which is impressive work from the third-year coach.

Duke basketball picks up three Crystal Ball predictions for the Boozer twins

Cameron and Cayden Boozer will reportedly announce their commitment on Friday, and some 247Sports predictions think they’re headed to Durham.

Cameron and Cayden Boozer, two of the top basketball prospects in the Class of 2025, will reportedly announce their commitment on Friday. According to a trio of Crystal Ball predictions from 247Sports, Duke basketball fans should expect good news.

Adam Rowe and Chad Lykins of The Devils Den both filed predictions for the Blue Devils and head coach [autotag]Jon Scheyer[/autotag] to land the Boozers on Thursday morning, as did InsideMDSports’ Colby Giacubeno.

The twin sons of former Duke basketball star Carlos Boozer, Cameron and Cayden play for Columbus High School in Miami, Florida. According to the most recent reports, the duo (who intend to play together) were deciding between the Blue Devils and the Miami Hurricanes.

Cameron, a 6-foot-9 power forward, is a five-star talent, and 247Sports ranks him as the second-best prospect in the Class of 2025. He led the Explorers with 22.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game as a junior.

Cayden, a 6-foot-4 point guard and the No. 21 player in the class, averaged 12.0 points and 7.6 assists per game.

Shortly after the predictions, five-star small forward Shelton Henderson included the Blue Devils among his final three schools. With no players committed to Duke yet in the 2025 class, Scheyer could vault well up the national rankings very quickly.

Carlos Boozer’s twin sons, Cayden and Cameron Boozer, set unofficial Duke basketball visit

Cameron and Cayden Boozer, twin sons of Duke basketball legend Carlos Boozer, will unofficially visit the Blue Devils this weekend, per report.

The Boozer family legacy could continue on basketball courts in Durham soon.

Cameron and Cayden Boozer, the twin sons of former Blue Devil Carlos Boozer, will reportedly take an unofficial visit to Duke basketball this weekend.

247Sports’ Travis Branham first reported the news on Wednesday, saying the Blue Devils will be the first of three schools on the brother’s schedule over the coming weeks.

Cameron, a 6-foot-9 power forward, is 247Sports’ second-ranked player in the Class of 2025. With the Blue Devils out of the running for top-ranked AJ Dybantsa, the taller Boozer brother figures to be the top target for head coach Jon Scheyer on the trail.

While Cayden, a 6-foot-4 point guard, hasn’t gained the same national attention as his twin brother, he’s 19th in the 247Sports Class of 2025 rankings in his own right.

The brothers play for Columbus High School in Miami, and the Explorers finished 29-6 in 2023-24. Cameron averaged a team-high 22.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, and Cayden paced the team with 7.6 assists per game while averaging 12.0 points.

Branham reported that the duo will also visit the Hurricanes and the Florida Gators from their home state.

Kentucky five-star target Cameron Boozer named TISSOT MVP

Kentucky basketball recruiting target Cameron Boozer was named TISSOT MVP.

Five star forward Cameron Boozer was named TISSOT Most Valuable Player of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024 after helping the United States to the championship.

Boozer had 24 points and 13 rebounds in USA’s 129-88 victory over Italy in the Final. For the tournament, Boozer averaged 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds 2.0 assists and 2.7 steals.

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound forward is a five-star recruit who ranks No. 2 overall on the 247sports 2025 composite rankings.

He also earned the following praise from ESPN’s Paul Biancardi on social media:

Impressed but not surprised that Cameron Boozer was named MVP. 24 points and 13 rebounds in the championship game…Scored inside-out with great hands, touch, footwork and angles. The most consistent and productive player in high school basketball who impacts winning.

His twin brother Cayden Boozer was also on this historic team and his father is former Duke Blue Devil, and former NBA all-star, Carlos Boozer.

Cameron will likely sign with Duke with his twin brother but there is an outside chance that Kentucky, Florida, North Carolina, Miami and Florida State could land the top recruit.

Duke commits Cooper Flagg, Darren Harris, and Patrick Ngongba to battle in Chipotle Nationals finals

Duke five-star signee Cooper Flagg leads Montverde Academy against Paul VI and future teammates Darren Harris and Patrick Ngongba in Saturday’s title game at Chipotle Nationals.

The Chipotle Nationals boys title game on Saturday will feature a trio of Duke signees from the esteemed 2024 recruiting class.

Darren Harris and Paul Ngongba led Paul VI Catholic to a 58-44 semifinal win over Link Academy earlier in the day on Friday.

Harris, one day removed from his 36-point game against IMG Academy, finished with 20 points after he buried a trio of 3-pointers. He tacked on four rebounds and two assists to his stat line. Ngongba only took two shots, but he held his own on the glass with seven rebounds in just 17 minutes.

WATCH: Jase Richardson’s crazy 4-point play helps No. 19 Columbus ice No. 2 Paul VI

Columbus has now beat No. 2 Paul VI and No. 3 Long Island Lutheran, with the help of Jase Richardon’s crazy 4-point play.

Just two days after beating the No. 3 team in the country, Columbus looked to do one better against No. 2 Paul VI. The Explorers led for much of the second half on Monday at the Hoophall Classic, but were struggling to pull away from one of the best teams in the country.

Yet the Explorers wanted to prove that they, too, deserved that distinction as a top team in the nation.

Paul VI cut the score to a one-possession game with about a minute-and-a-half left when Jase Richardson caught a pass on the left corner. The southpaw put up a shot, got hit, and made the basket. He sunk the free throw to push the lead to seven, and Paul VI’s desperation play in the closing minute couldn’t gain any more distance. Columbus won 70-61.

Watch Richardson’s 3-pointer here:

Richardson, the son of former NBA player Jason Richardson, finished with 21 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Cameron Boozer, the top player in the class of 2025 and son of former NBA player Carlos Boozer, finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, four steals and four blocks for Columbus.

With the win, Columbus improved its record to 16-4 and now has wins over No. 2 Paul VI, No. 3 Long Island Lutheran, and No. 4 Harvard-Westlake under its belt, setting the stage for a massive ranking jump this week. Paul VI falls to 14-2 on the year.

Cameron Boozer leads No. 19 Columbus to win over No. 3 Long Island Lutheran

Cameron Boozer had 26 points and Jase Richardson had six stocks to lead No. 19 Columbus to its third win against a top-6 team this season.

The 2024 Hoophall Classic at Springfield College in Massachusetts featured one of the games most stacked with high-level Division I prospects so far this season: No. 19 Columbus, headlined by five-star brothers Cameron and Cayden Boozer and four-star brothers Jase and Jaxon Richardson, and No. 3 Long Island Lutheran, with five-star VJ Edgecombe supported by four four-star players and depth from five-star sophomore Dylan Mingo.

Long Island’s blistering start to the season was stymied by Columbus, which gave LoLu its second loss by a score of 81-62. Cameron Boozer led the 15-4 Columbus Explorers with a game-high 26 points in 26 minutes.

Columbus led for almost the entirety of the first half, but Long Island Lutheran snuck a 39-36 lead into the break and maintained that three-point lead through the third quarter.

The Explorers put their foot on the gas in the fourth quarter, though, going on a 25-3 run to take away any chance the Crusaders had at victory. The tough-nose defense resulted in Long Island shooting only 38% from the field, Edgecombe making just five of 14 field goal attempts, and four-star Kiyan Anthony shooting just 2-for-10 off the bench.

In addition to Cameron Boozer’s 26 points and five blocks, Jase Richardson had 20 points to go with nine assists, two blocks, and four steals, and Cayden Boozer had 17 points.

The full game can be found on NBA.com.

Long Island Lutheran now has two losses, with this game adding onto the loss to No. 1 Montverde. With wins against Super 25 teams like No. 11 Don Bosco Prep, No. 15 Link Academy, and No. 23 Mater Dei, the Crusaders remain one of the best teams in the country despite this defeat.

Columbus, meanwhile, has four losses, but don’t let that make you think this victory is a fluke. This is now the third team in the top six of the Super 25 the Explorers have taken down: No. 3 LoLu, No. 4 Harvard-Westlake and No. 6 Prolific Prep. Columbus’ losses are to very good teams: Montverde, Don Bosco Prep, Link Academy, and No. 17 Wasatch.

They’ll test themselves again on Monday when they face off against No. 2 Paul VI.
