CoD Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 is just around the corner, with new maps for the FPS game, more modes, fresh weapons, and even a new Zombies mode story in tow. Ranked matches will finally make an appearance in the middle of the multiplayer game’s first season, though DMZ mode is on its last legs. Activision is removing cross-progression for the mode and has plans to revamp it later on.

There’s also a zombified Santa Claus, because ’tis the season.

The big content drop has a lot to get through, but we’ve rounded up everything new in CoD MW3 Season 1 below.

Warzone 2 passes 25 million players in five days

Call of Duty’s latest battle royale is a massive hit.

Activision announced Tuesday that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has surpassed 25 million players in its first five days.

Call of Duty’s official Twitter account made the announcement, thanking everyone for playing and making Warzone 2 such a success since its launch on Nov. 16, 2022. There wasn’t an exact numbers breakdown by platform, but the 25 million statistic accounts for players across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

This news comes shortly after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2‘s record-breaking earnings, bringing in over $1 billion in just 10 days. The sequel even outpaced Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s lifetime sales already, becoming the third best-selling game of 2022 behind Elden Ring and FIFA 23.

While we don’t have player count numbers for consoles, PC is a different story. According to SteamDB, Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 collectively had an all-time concurrent player count high of 491,670 as of Sunday — making this joint launch one of Steam’s biggest Call of Duty launches in history.

Fans recently found a hidden nuke in Warzone 2 and detonated it shortly after the discovery. Activision has plans for more community events like this as well, though none have yet to surface.

Someone finally found the CoD Warzone 2 nuke and detonated it live

The rumored Warzone 2 nuke does exist, and one Twitch streamer figured out how to get it in the multiplayer game – sort of

The rumored Call of Duty Warzone 2 nuke is real after all, and Twitch streamer Wagnificent detonated it live on stream (thanks PCGamer). Developer Raven Software fueled speculation about the multiplayer game‘s nuke after responding to a different streamer’s joke clip, but a few rumors lingering from pre-launch buzz aside, no one knew if it was real, let alone how to get it.

Wagnificent’s steps for acquiring the nuke seem to follow what the rumors suggested. He and his team accepted one of the battle royale’s new contracts that appeared at the beginning of the match, “Champion’s Contract,” which tasked the squad with collecting three nuclear cores in small, cylindrical containers.

These components were scattered around the massive Al Mazrah map, and it seems like anyone who picks one up is suddenly marked with a golden crown for all to see.

If you’re on an opposing squad, that’s your sign to hunt down whoever’s holding the nuclear core. If a squad assembles all three, as Wagnificent’s did, they launch a nuclear weapon, destroy the map, and, obviously, win the match. However, anyone can steal the components, so even if your team doesn’t get the contract, you can still swipe the goods and try to wipe everyone else out.

How often the contract and components do spawn is unclear. Early rumors suggested the nuke’s appearance is intentionally rare, so you may not encounter it for quite a while. Wagnificent continued streaming for a while after, but found no other nuclear weapons, at least at the time of writing. You can check out his first – and only – nuke on Twitch if you’re curious.

Fans think Call of Duty Warzone 2 has a hidden nuke

The Call of Duty Warzone nuke may be real, or at least a vague tease from Raven Software has fans thinking it is

Update: Nov. 18, 2022 – Twitch streamer Wagnificent found the nuke after following a complicated set of steps and detonated it live on stream.

Original Story: Nov. 17, 2022

There may be a Call of Duty Warzone 2 nuke hidden somewhere in the multiplayer game’s massive map – or there may not be, but fans are convinced it exists after a brief interaction on social media. YouTubers CouRage and TimTheTatMan posted a joke video called “The first nuke in Warzone 2!” where an operator starts to dive into a body of water, but a giant bomb explodes from under the surface.

The explosion clip is cut in, but Raven retweeted the video with a vague tease: “So the rumors are true…?”

That set fans scrambling to try and find where the rumored tactical nuke might be hidden, but early indications are that you won’t just stumble across Warzone 2’s nuke. Popular CoD news aggregator account “ModernWarfare2” posted prior to the game’s launch that the nuclear weapon is reportedly a special contract that won’t spawn every battle, and when it does, you have to meet a strict set of conditions to acquire it.

[mm-video type=video id=01gj3f69ax31p004yc65 playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01gj3f69ax31p004yc65/01gj3f69ax31p004yc65-eb63c6f0717cf32ebdd9a8bb63b70f0a.jpg]

What those are remains to be seen, but the team that finds the weapon will reportedly be able to destroy the entire map – hence making it so difficult to acquire.

Warzone 2 is barely a day old at this point, though, with plenty of additional secrets likely to show up in the coming weeks and months alongside the specifics of how to get the nuke.

Call of Duty Warzone 2 promises massive overhaul to the battle royale

Call of Duty Warzone 2 is almost here, and the new battle royale update is shaking up the game in several ways

Call of Duty Warzone 2 releases Nov. 16, 2022, and alongside a sneak peak at DMZ mode, Activision recently posted a deep dive into what you can expect from the revamped free-to-play battle royale. Warzone 2 promises much more than just a new map and some Modern Warfare 2 guns, with new vehicles, aquatic combat, and a long-awaited change to how the game deals with fall damage.

Custom loadouts remain in Warzone 2, but the Gulag is looking a bit different. Two players are paired at random and face off against another team of two using pre-determined loadouts. These will include a pistol or a shotgun, along with a lethal grenade and a tactical grenade, and better equipment is at the center of the map.

The significant new change is the Jailer, an NPC who returns all four players to the main map if he’s defeated. Your task is deciding whether to take down your foe or work together for your freedom.

The new battle pass does away with the traditional tier system in favor of sectors, groups of five rewards that you can spend tokens to unlock and either redeem rewards in that sector or unlock a new one.

As for fall damage, where you used to have two fall states – dead and not dead – now, Warzone 2 will calculate how much damage you take based on how high you were when you fell. Dropping from a ledge won’t always kill you anymore, but it may give nearby enemies an advantage as you scramble to recover.

That’s just the tip of the tank – which, along with other vehicles, you’ll need to fuel up manually before you can use them. New guns and raids and, of course, the Escape from Tarkov-like DMZ mode, along with updates to Caldera should keep Warzone 2 feeling fresh well into its first season.

Activision details Call of Duty Warzone 2 DMZ in season one preview

Call of Duty Warzone 2 season one is almost here, and Activision finally lifted the lid on Warzone 2’s new DMZ mode

Call of Duty Warzone 2 DMZ mode launches with Warzone 2 on Nov. 16, 2022, and Activision at last teased something of what to expect from the narrative-driven mode in a new Warzone 2 season one preview. DMZ is an extraction mode where the main goal is you and your squad traveling across the map towards an extraction point, but the main goal is only a small fraction of what DMZ entails.

You’ll encounter side objectives and the opportunity to take on faction missions. Enemy AI and human-controlled operators stand in your way, and there’s no shortage of loot to uncover across the vast map of Al Mazrah.

Those currently playing Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer maps have already experienced portions of the first Warzone 2 map. Activision said Taraq, Sariff Bay, the Embassy, and a few other maps are all just pieces of the larger Al Mazrah layout. Expect even more details about DMZ before Warzone 2’s launch.

Elsewhere in the preview, Activision said Warzone 2 will include a set of third-person playlists for the first time, and the battle pass is getting a slight shake-up. Instead of linear tiers, you unlock sectors, with each sector containing at least five items. You can spend tokens to unlock new items in that sector or open adjacent sectors if nothing in the others takes your fancy.

Two new weapons, the Victus XMR sniper rifle and the BAS-P SMG from Modern Warfare 2‘s gun selection will show up at launch in the battle pass for free as well.

Warzone Season 4: Best Marco 5 loadout

The Marco 5 is Warzone’s newest submachine gun.

The Marco 5 is Warzone’s newest submachine gun and, much like its Battle Pass predecessors, it has immediately become a strong choice within the weapon meta. That said, the shooting iron is not particularly versatile – it’s a highly specialized weapon designed primarily for close-range combat. This guide will introduce you to the best Marco 5 setup for Warzone Pacific.

Best Marco 5 Setup for Warzone Pacific

  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster.
  • Barrel: Perfetto Lesto 355mm.
  • Optic: Slate Reflector.
  • Stock: Imerito FR.
  • Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal.
  • Magazine: 9mm 48 Round Drums.
  • Ammunition: Hollow Point.
  • Rear Grip: Taped Grip.
  • Perk: Momentum.
  • Perk 2: Quick.

The Marco 5’s damage and accuracy drop radically as range increases, so even in its standard configuration it quickly becomes useless in this way, and cannot effectively be retrofitted for such scenarios. Instead, the upgrades chosen ensure that the Marco 5 becomes even more efficient in its preferred environment – fast-paced close-quarters combat.

Additional accuracy is sacrificed to achieve this, but that doesn’t make a noticeable difference in the combat distance you’ll actually use the weapon in. Instead, the attachments put the focus on an increased rate of fire, more damage, and most importantly, more mobility. With the Marco 5, you literally dance around your opponents, sliding and deftly dodging their fire before responding with deadly volleys at close range.

If you choose Momentum as a perk, you’ll receive more speed for each kill, which builds up over time. Alternatively, Gung-Ho is an equally viable option for this slot, letting you fire while sprinting – you should decide here according to your own taste and playstyle, as both perks are exceedingly potent in combination with the Marco 5.

Again, it must be stressed that you should not use the Marco 5 for higher ranges under any circumstances – be sure to pack an assault rifle such as the STG44, Cooper Carbine, Grau, or NZ-41 to avoid being completely defenseless from longer distances. Once things get close and personal, bring out the Marco 5 to finish the job.
