The NFL is back this week with the 1st round of the NFL Draft set to take place in Detroit Thursday at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL Draft odds for NFL prospects and tab the best bets for who will be the No. 1 overall pick — just one of many SportsbookWire’s expert NFL picks and predictions.

The NFL has been busy this offseason with a multitude of acquisitions happening as a result of the free-agency deadline in mid-March. While many teams across the league were shaken up, it allowed fans and experts to further speculate the incoming stock of the draft class.

After trading away the 1st overall pick last year to the Carolina Panthers, the Chicago Bears are in control of the draft board to start the night on Thursday, and it is all but certain of who they will select.

The pick – CALEB WILLIAMS (-10000)

Quarterbacks have been taken with the 1st overall pick in 4 of the last 5 years of the NFL Draft including QB Bryce Young, who the Panthers selected last April.

The far and away favorite to be the 1st pick of the 2024 NFL Draft is Williams out of USC. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2022 and is the only QB since 2000 to throw for 30-plus touchdowns and run for 10+ TDs, while throwing 5 or fewer interceptions in multiple seasons. He is highly touted to replace QB Justin Fields, who led Chicago to a 7-10 finish last season.

Chicago’s biggest offseason move was the addition of WR Keenan Allen who will join WR D.J. Moore and provide experience and talent for Williams to throw to.

With Williams -10000 odds to be the 1st pick, it is almost inconceivable to think of another player being picked by Chicago.

However, AVOID making a wager here. The juice is just not worth it.

2024 NFL Draft best bets: Who will be the third overall pick?

Breaking down the 2024 NFL Draft odds and tabbing the best bet for who will be the third overall pick.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

Who else can’t wait for Thursday night when the 2024 NFL Draft kicks off from Detroit? It’s always one of the most speculated nights of the year and predicting what front offices are going to do is nearly impossible, but we sure as hell are going to try. Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s NFL Draft odds for NFL prospects and tab the best bets for who will be the No. 3 overall pick — just one of many SportsbookWire’s expert NFL picks and predictions.

The New England Patriots, who have the No. 3 pick, are beginning a new era, one without Bill Belichick running the show for the first time since he was hired as coach before the 2000 season. Longtime Patriots player and assistant coach Jerod Mayo has huge shoes to fill, and it officially starts with the No. 3 pick in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

One of the first big moves in the Mayo regime was to ship out QB Mac Jones to Jacksonville which means they have a hole to fill at the QB position. The prevailing thought is, whomever the Washington Commanders don’t take at No. 2 between LSU QB Jayden Daniels and UNC QB Drake Maye, New England will select at No. 3.

Maye seems like a great choice to be the heir apparent to Tom Brady since Jones obviously was not up to the task. Maye checks all the boxes from his measurables to his arm strength to his mobility. The former Tar Heel gunslinger threw for 3,608 yards with 24 touchdowns against 9 interceptions, but he has had a tendency to make bad plays worse.

If Daniels were to fall to New England at No. 3, the Pats would be hard pressed to pass on his absurd skill set. He is the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner after throwing 40 touchdowns and rushing for another 10 for LSU last season.

The pick – DRAKE MAYE (-250)

Maye falling into the Patriots’ laps at No. 3 would frankly be a godsend to them. They need someone that the city can get behind after the failure of Mac Jones. The UNC product is everything you want in a quarterback, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing in at 223 pounds, according to NFL.com. Those are basically the exact same measurables as “The GOAT” Tom Brady. Draft scouts are comparing him to a more mobile Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Maye has been picked apart during this draft process and it’s frankly been too harsh at times. Maye has a pedigree of a Greek god, his father Mark was a quarterback at UNC, his brother Luke helped UNC’s basketball team win a National Championship, and his other brother Cole helped the Florida Gators’ baseball team win a National title.

Maye will be a good pro quarterback, but whoever selects him needs to know there will be growing pains in his development. There will also be a lot of excitement because he can put a team on his back and carry them to victory, which he had to do a lot in Chapel Hill.

Contender – JAYDEN DANIELS (+430)

It almost feels automatic for the Patriots to pull the trigger on the LSU quarterback if the Commanders decide that Maye is their guy. Daniels would immediately bring an excitement to New England and bring this team a dynamic offensive force to compete in a division with the likes of Josh Allen (Bills), Aaron Rodgers (Jets) and Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins).

Daniels could start day one because of his lengthy collegiate experience, having played 5 seasons at the highest level, especially the last 2 in the SEC. He faced the best of the best week in and week out.

Long shot – MARVIN HARRISON JR. (+3100)

When was the last time the Patriots had a legit playmaking wide out? Randy Moss? It just never seemed to be a priority for Belichick and Co., but there’s a new sheriff in town. Mayo may look to infuse talent anyway he can by taking the best overall player available, which is Harrison Jr.

The Patriots definitely need a quarterback, and this draft class is loaded with quality gunslingers. New England has the luxury of a high 2nd- and 3rd-round pick which it could use on a QB if it chooses to go wide receiver at No. 3 overall. You have to think that Mayo wants to make a splash in his first draft as the man in charge.

2024 NFL Draft best bets: Who will be the second overall pick?

Breaking down the 2024 NFL Draft odds and tabbing the best bet for who will be the second overall pick.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The highly anticipated 2024 NFL Draft begins Thursday night in Detroit. Thirteen expected future NFL players are confirmed to attend — a low number compared to the past drafts — with the hopes of hearing their names called and receiving the big hug or handshake from Commissioner Roger Goodell. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL Draft odds for NFL prospects and tab the best bets for who will be the No. 2 overall pick — just one of many SportsbookWire’s expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Washington Commanders currently have the No. 2 pick. The Chicago Bears own the No. 1 pick.

LSU QB Jayden Daniels has been moving up on draft boards throughout the draft process. This tantalizing prospect has scouts drooling over his playmaking ability with his arm and legs. The reigning Heisman Trophy winner threw for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns during his magical 2023 campaign. NFL.com lists him at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds.

The other name that has been thrown around since the NFL Draft order was set is North Carolina QB Drake Maye. He put up impressive numbers as a redshirt sophomore, throwing for 3,608 yards and 24 touchdowns with 9 interceptions. What seems to be glossed over is his rushing ability, Maye ran for 449 yards and another 9 TDs. The downside to having all that aforementioned arm talent and confidence is the occasional “heat check” throw that almost seem arrogant at first glance.

The Commanders have done a great job keeping this No. 2 pick a mystery. It seems like every top quarterback prospect has been named in a report connecting them to Washington.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

The pick – JAYDEN DANIELS (-450)

Commanders GM Adam Peters was handpicked by the new ownership group in Washington to rebuild the organization to its former glory and that starts by hitting a home run with their new franchise quarterback.

Daniels will bring an excitement to D.C. that it hasn’t seen since Robert Griffin III lit the league on fire during his rookie season. He also brings a ton of playing experience having played 5 years of collegiate ball; 3 years at Arizona State and 2 years at LSU.

The Commanders also brought in Kliff Kingsbury as their new offensive coordinator. He has extensive experience mentoring young talented quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes in college and Kyler Murray at the professional level. FanDuel Sportsbook recently had Daniels’ odds at -340 to be the second overall pick.

Contender – DRAKE MAYE (+350)

When the NFL regular season ended and the Commanders landed the No. 2 pick, Maye was the initial favorite to be the selection. It’s hard not to like Maye being the quintessential quarterback prototype, standing 6-4 and 223 pounds. Most draft scouts have called him a more mobile version of Chargers QB Justin Herbert. He has a big arm and a gun slinger mentality.

As the draft process has moved forward, the stock on Maye has dropped. The criticism of the Tar Heel quarterback has grown harsher and, in my opinion, more knit picky. The knock has been that he tends to make bad plays worse by throwing head-scratching interceptions in an attempt to save a play.

Maye should be a good pro quarterback for whatever team ends up drafting him and that includes the Commanders. Washington fans would get behind this kid because they believe that this new regime is moving things in the right direction.

Long shot – MARVIN HARRISON JR. (+12500)

Harrison Jr. is arguably the best overall football player in this 2024 NFL Draft class. There is an outside chance that the Commanders decide to just take the best player available with that No. 2 pick which would definitely invigorate this fan base. The idea of having WR Terry McLaurin and Harrison Jr. lining up together has to be tempting.

Washington definitely needs a quarterback to lead this team into the future, but there are a lot of quality signal callers in this draft class. Washington has 9 picks in this draft, including two early selections in the 2nd round which could still nab them a good gunslinger.
