Mike Vrabel and Titans players offered their condolences and support after Caleb Farley’s father was killed in a house explosion.

In what is tragic news, Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley’s father, Robert, was killed in an overnight explosion at Farley’s home in North Carolina.

The official cause of the explosion has yet to be revealed by authorities. Another person was injured, although the identity of the victim was not released.

After practice on Tuesday, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel offered condolences and support for the cornerback.

“What’s most important is that we do everything that we can to support him, emotionally, teammates, coaches, organization,” Vrabel said, per Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com.

“Just shocking. But also, (we have) to focus on Caleb (Farley) and his family and what we can do to support them and be here for them,” Vrabel added

“I’m just praying for Caleb,” running back Derrick Henry said. “We were probably the last ones in the locker room last night, just hanging around. I just found out the news, and we’ll keep him in our prayers and we all send our condolences to him and his family. It’s a tragic situation. I don’t want to speak too much on it, because I don’t know the details. I just couldn’t describe the way he’s probably feeling right now.”

“I’ll reach out to him. I couldn’t imagine that happening,” outside linebacker Harold Landry said. “I feel for him obviously and he’ll be in my prayers.”

Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Farley and his family.

Titans place Caleb Farley, Dillon Radunz on PUP to start training camp

The Titans announced some roster moves ahead of training camp, including Caleb Farley, Dillon Radunz landing on the PUP list.

With training camp starting next week, the Tennessee Titans have officially started to make several different transactions, ranging from the massive free-agent signing of DeAndre Hopkins, to injury designations.

When discussing the latter, it appears that Tennessee will open up training camp without the services of its top two draft picks from the 2021 class.

Both cornerback Caleb Farley and offensive lineman Dillon Radunz will begin camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Both players can take part in meetings and other off-the-field activities, but neither can participate in practice. However, they can be activated off the list at any time, although it remains to be seen when that will happen.

Farley is still recovering from back surgery, while Radunz is recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered late last season. It was expected Radunz would begin camp on the PUP list after tearing his ACL in December, but Farley wasn’t as certain.

Both players have been very disappointing over their first two years in the NFL, as neither has been able to latch on to a starting spot.

The Titans also placed defensive back Josh Thompson on the non-football illness list. We won’t speculate as to why, but let’s hope that everything is okay on that front.

One notable player not placed on the PUP list is Harold Landry, who is coming back from a torn ACL. It would appear Landry will be ready to go once training camp begins, which is great news for Tennessee’s defense.

Titans’ Chig Okonkwo, Caleb Farley among fastest at their positions in ‘Madden NFL 24’

We also provide a look at how other Titans CBs and TEs fared in overall rating.

On Thursday, “Madden NFL 24” released the player ratings for two more positions, and while tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo and cornerback Caleb Farley were not among the highest-rated players in terms of overall mark, they did register among the highest speed ratings at their positions.

Okonkwo, who notched a lackluster 71 overall rating, notched an 88 in the speed department, tying him for the second-best mark among tight ends, which is at least somewhat surprising considering how often Titans are overlooked in all areas.

Farley was not only given a 74 overall, which is pretty solid considering the extremely disappointing start to his career, he also scored a 95 speed rating, tied for sixth-best among corners.

Farley hasn’t had much of a chance to show his wheels in the NFL thanks to injury and poor play that has greatly limited his on-field time, but lest we forget this was a guy who ran a 4.28 40-yard dash.

Now, a look at how other Titans tight ends and cornerbacks fared in “Madden NFL 24” ratings.

Titans’ Caleb Farley hosts free youth football camp in home town for second straight year

For the second straight year, Titans CB Caleb Farley returned home to host a free youth football camp.

It’s always great to see an NFL player go home and give back to their community, and that’s exactly what Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley is doing this summer.

Farley, who was born in Maiden, North Carolina, recently returned home to hold a free youth football camp for the second straight year.

“It means more than I can express with words,” Farley said of going home to host the camp, per Nick Carboni of WCNC. “It’s something that I would love to continue to do.”

Farley played quarterback in high school and was nothing short of a legend, twice scoring eight touchdowns in a single game and posting 4,350 total yards (2,574 rushing) and 58 touchdowns (37 rushing) in his senior year.

After impressive showings in high school and college, Farley has had a rough go of it in the NFL so far after being selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft.

Not only has Farley struggled when on the field, but he’s also dealt with injuries that have cut each of his first two seasons in the league short.

Looking ahead to 2023, Farley is just trying to get his body right so he can get his career back on track.

“I’m just trying to — me personally right now in my career — get my body in order, heal properly, make sure I’m 100 percent and get all the way back,” he said.

5 Titans who could start training camp on the PUP list

The Titans appear to have five players who are candidates to start training camp on the PUP list.

Injuries and the Tennessee Titans go together like peas and carrots after the team has been absolutely decimated by them the past two seasons. In fact, injuries in droves are practically expected for the franchise at this point.

With training camp rapidly approaching, it’s time to start taking a look around the trainer’s room to see who might start camp on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

Players placed on the list before camp can be activated at any time during camp, so there’s no reason to panic at that point. But if a player remains on the list through camp, he’s transferred to the Reserve/PUP and must miss the first four games of the season.

As things stand now, it appears the Titans have five candidates for the list. It looked like they might have six after Kristian Fulton was absent for much of the offseason program, but his absence turned out to be the result of him taking a different approach to training this year.

While Fulton looks to be in the clear ahead of training camp, these five players aren’t yet, although the outlooks for some are better than others.

Tennessee Titans injury updates from mandatory minicamp

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel provided updates on a handful of players who have been absent from mandatory minicamp.

The Tennessee Titans held their third and final day of mandatory minicamp on Thursday, and we finally got at least some semblance of an update on players who have been absent thus far.

As of Wednesday, those players included Caleb Farley, Kristian Fulton, Josh Thompson, Harold Landry, Sam Okuayinonu, Dillon Radunz and Trevon Wesco. Elijah Molden was part of that group before returning Wednesday.

After the final minicamp practice, head coach Mike Vrabel fielded questions on those players who have been absent. Some of his answers were more in depth than others, but we’ll take what we can get from the always guarded Vrabel.

10 Titans facing a make-or-break year in 2023

Shaun Calderon lists 10 Titans who are facing a make-or-break year in 2023.

The Tennessee Titans began their offseason by making several notable moves to get themselves back in good standing with the salary cap.

To accomplish this, the Titans chose to part ways with several high-priced and highly-respected veterans such as Taylor Lewan, Ben Jones and Robert Woods, among others.

While these moves undoubtedly created some much-needed cap room, these decisions also created several more holes on a Titans roster that already had quite a few to begin with.

That means the Titans had to go bargain hunting these last few months, and they are now forced to rely on several young and/or unproven players to take that next step in their development if they’re going to have any chance at competing this season.

As risky as this is for the team, this year is just as nerve-wracking for several players on the roster whose immediate and long-term futures are up in the air for a variety of reasons.

Some are in danger of losing their starting jobs, while others could be on the verge of losing their jobs altogether by season’s end. This article is going to go over 10 players on the roster who are at a crossroads in their respective careers with the Titans.

Without further ado, let’s dive right into it.

Titans’ Caleb Farley remains ‘extremely optimistic’ about future

Titans CB Caleb Farley quoted Bruce Lee when talking about his first two years in the NFL.

Tennessee Titans cornerback Caleb Farley’s first two years in the NFL have been nothing short of a disaster.

The Virginia Tech product, who had injury concerns that led to his slipping in the 2021 NFL Draft, has seen each of his first two seasons end early due to injury.

Farley suffered a torn ACL in 2021, and in 2022 a back injury led to his third surgery in that area since his college days and yet another premature finish.

But injuries haven’t been the only issue. Farley simply hasn’t been good when on the field, and he even got beat out for the starting job by rookie Roger McCreary last offseason after he was expected to secure it going in.

Despite the setbacks, Farley remains “extremely optimistic” about his future. He even channeled Bruce Lee when talking about his first two years, which is always a win.

“I am extremely optimistic,” Farley said, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online. “I feel like even after two unsuccessful years, I am confident because I know what I can do.

“I think Bruce Lee said something like: ‘You have to learn to die before you can win,'” Farley added. “I am extremely optimistic and excited for the offseason. It’s going to be a big one for me.”

Head coach Mike Vrabel has praised Farley for keeping a positive mindset even with all the downs, and that mindset is something the 24-year-old intends to keep.

“My thoughts are all positive,” he said. “I am just excited to get back to work. I am just grateful to be healed. My surgery was successful, so my thoughts are all positive moving forward. I just want to get to work, and I am excited to get this time. It’s going to be the most time I’ve had since coming into the league to be able to get ready and prepare and try and get in shape.”

So much missed time has no doubt been one of the causes of Farley’s issues when healthy, but the soon-to-be third-year pro still believes he’s learned a lot during his time in Nashville.

“I feel like I have learned so much he last couple of years,” Farley said. “I want to play. I feel good. It’s just about getting in top shape. I think where I stand now, I just have to work as hard as I can and when that opportunity comes again, I still believe in myself and I believe in the the abilities God has blessed me with to be able to perform at a high level.

“I am confident because I know what I can do. God has blessed me, and I am confident I am going to get to show it.”

Looking ahead to 2023, the Titans should be expecting nothing from Farley. In fact, there really isn’t even a role for him to have if McCreary, Kristian Fulton and Elijah Molden are all healthy to take the outside and slot roles.

If there’s anything good to take from Farley right now, it’s his positivity and confidence. Those two qualities will be two pieces of the puzzle he and the Titans have to try and put together in 2023.

Titans’ Caleb Farley confident he’ll bounce back in 2023

Titans CB Caleb Farley took to social media recently to express confidence that he’ll bounce back after a bad start to his career.

Tennessee Titans 2021 first-round pick and cornerback Caleb Farley is off to about the worst start to his career imaginable after two very disappointing seasons in the NFL.

Farley was limited to just three games in his rookie season after tearing his ACL. He returned in 2022, but lost out on the starting job to rookie Roger McCreary before suffering a season-ending back injury.

On top of long-term injury concerns — especially with his back that has now had three surgeries since college — Farley has struggled mightily when he has been on the field.

Despite how badly things have gone, Farley remains optimistic that he’ll turn it around over the remainder of his rookie contract in Tennessee, as he said in a social media post recently.

While fans are rightly skeptical Farley can bounce back, the fact that the 24-year-old is still expressing confidence in himself despite all the downs is definitely a good sign.

But it’s going to take more than confidence for Farley to turn things around. He’s going to have to stay healthy and play a lot better when given the opportunity.
