Former UFC fighter [autotag]Cain Carrizosa[/autotag] is behind bars. Police allege he assaulted his girlfriend on two separate occasions.
Carrizosa, 36, was arrested Monday by police in St. George, Utah, and faces charges of second-degree aggravated assault (two counts), second-degree robbery (one count) and third-degree domestic violence in the presence of a child (one count), MMA Junkie confirmed Sunday.
Multiple local news outlets, including the St. George News, released police report details of the alleged incidents. According to police, Carrizosa’s real name is Cain Castillo.
On Jan. 1, police say they responded to a call around 4 a.m. after the woman’s parents heard a rowdy argument and what they said sounded like a strike hitting flesh. Upon arrival, police placed both Carrizosa and the woman in custody because the woman initially fled the scene.
According to police, the woman displayed signs of damage on her face, passed out, and intermittently convulsed as an ambulance transported her to a hospital.
Police say Carrizosa told arresting officers he planned on leaving and never coming back once released from custody. Around that point, they connected him to a previous incident from March 24, 2022, that involved the same woman.
Police say the alleged March assault occurred when Carrizosa punched the woman in the back of her head, knocked her into the road and dragged her to a sidewalk, where he left her unconscious, and she later experienced seizures.
Additionally, the affidavit alleges Carrizosa stole the woman’s phone.
The woman’s family told police she has no history of seizures outside of the two alleged assaults.
As of Sunday, Carrizosa is being held without bail in Washington County Sheriff’s Office custody, according to online records. He will be due in the Fifth District Court of St. George on Wednesday.

Carrizosa competed twice in the UFC and went 0-2. He made his debut at UFC 177 in August 2014 and quickly was submitted by Chris Wade. At UFC Fight Night 62 in March 2015, Carrizosa lost a unanimous decision to Leonardo Mafra. Following the loss, he was released by the UFC.
Outside of his two UFC fights, Carrizosa was highly successful with wins in Bellator, Tachi Palace Fights and CFFC. He challenged for the Cage Warriors lightweight title in October 2019 and was knocked out by current UFC lightweight Jai Herbert.
Carrizosa most recently competed in January 2022 and lost to Josh Wick by first-round TKO under the Fierce FC banner.
