Clemson is getting ready for a big recruiting weekend, as the Tigers will play host to a bunch of official visitors for Saturday’s game against UConn.

Most if not all of Clemson’s commitments in the 2022 class are expected to take their official visits, including Austin (Texas) Westlake five-star quarterback Cade Klubnik and IMG Academy standouts Jihaad Campbell, Daylen Everette and Keon Sabb, among others.

The only commit that won’t be able to make it is Toriano Pride. The four-star cornerback pledge from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School has a playoff game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Preferred walk-on commits will be on campus as well, though it won’t be for an official visit.

While Clemson’s official visitor list is largely comprised of commits, the Tigers are slated to welcome a high-profile uncommitted official visitor in the 2022 class as well in Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher’s School four-star wide receiver Andre Greene Jr.

“Looking forward to getting back to Clemson,” Greene told The Clemson Insider last month. “Because of my school football schedule, I won’t be able to make the game. However, I feel it is important to get back there just to sit down with the coaching staff one last time before I make my final decision.”

Greene will not be able to make it for Saturday’s noon kickoff, but he still plans on making the trip for what could prove to be a critical official visit.

Greene made his way back to Clemson in July for the program’s All In Cookout after participating in the Dabo Swinney Camp as well. He publicly disclosed last week that he is down to Clemson, Georgia and North Carolina, and will announce his decision on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

Originally, Jennings (La.) four-star running back Trevor Etienne, of course, the younger brother of Travis Etienne, was supposed to be in attendance for Saturday’s game. However, Trevor has a playoff game on the road on Friday night, so his status is up in the air at the moment.

Trevor was last on campus for the Swinney Camp and Elite Retreat in June, In August, he released a top five featuring Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU.

Some big-time prospects in future classes planning to unofficially visit Clemson this weekend are Warner Robins (Ga.) 2023 five-star defensive lineman Vic Burley, Dorman (Roebuck, S.C.) 2023 four-star offensive tackle Markee Anderson, Brookwood (Snellville, Ga.) 2023 four-star quarterback Dylan Lonergan, Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.) 2023 linebacker/safety Wade Woodaz, Pace Academy (Atlanta) 2024 four-star defensive lineman Hevin Brown-Shuler and Chapin (S.C.) 2024 four-star quarterback Jayden Bradford.

As for Bradford, he can’t wait to get back on campus this weekend for what will be a family affair.

“I’m really excited,” he told TCI. “I’m pretty sure my whole family’s going to go up there. My grandma is a huge Clemson fan, so we’re just going to go up there as a family and thank God for the opportunity and enjoy the moment.”

Cade Klubnik leads No. 3 Westlake to blowout win over Lake Travis in return

Cade Klubnik totaled five touchdowns in his return to lead No. 3 Westlake to a blowout win over Lake Travis.

Mater Dei and IMG Academy have sat comfortably in the top two of the USA TODAY Sports Super 25 since the beginning of the season. Both programs have multiple signature wins under their belt and have stamped themselves as the best of the best this year.

Mater Dei is not in any danger of losing its No. 1 ranking, but No. 3 Westlake has a case to take over the second spot with the way it played against Lake Travis on Friday night.

Clemson commit Cade Klubnik and Westlake rolled over a Lake Travis team that entered 8-1 and features Ohio State wide receiver commit Caleb Burton in a 63-21 win. Klubnik accounted for five touchdowns in his return to the field after missing time with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder.

Klubnik did not show any signs of rust, throwing for three touchdowns, rushing for two more and totaling over 250 yards of offense. The senior quarterback led Westlake to an early 14-0 lead and Lake Travis was never really in the game from that point on, as Klubnik and Westlake kicked it into gear and never looked back.

“He got hurt four weeks ago, went to work on his rehab and here he is,” Westlake head coach Todd Dodge said. “He was ready to go, but it doesn’t surprise me one bit. It’s who he is.”

Klubnik received some help from sophomore running back Jack Kayser, who rushed for 170 yards and a touchdown, caught two passes for 89 yards and returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Kayer’s touchdown run was a 62-yard scamper to the end zone in the second quarter.

Lake Travis got the best of Westlake the last time the two teams met, but it was all Chapparals on Friday night en route to a Texas District 26 6A championship. With Klubnik back and clearly at 100%, Westlake remains the favorite to bring home a state championship in Dodge’s final season at the helm.

Clemson’s prized quarterback commit can’t wait to start his career as a Tiger in just a couple of months.

Austin (Texas) Westlake High School five-star Cade Klubnik, the nation’s top-ranked QB in the class of 2022, is stoked to begin the next chapter of his life and academic/athletic career when he enrolls early at Clemson in January.

“So excited! I can’t wait to get there and start my new phase of life,” Klubnik told The Clemson Insider. “To learn from that coaching staff and be with such amazing people… I couldn’t be more pumped.”

Klubnik (6-2, 185) was honored last week as a member of the 2022 All-American Bowl and awarded his jersey for this year’s game.

“Was such an honor!” Klubnik said. “Felt like a dream come true.”

The 2022 All-American Bowl will be played on Saturday, Jan. 8 in San Antonio and be nationally televised on NBC.

“(Looking forward to) the competition, amazing coaching, and just to learn so much to help me get better for the next level,” Klubnik said of taking part in the prestigious all-star game, which will feature 100 of the nation’s top high school football players.

In his first six games with Westlake this season, Klubnik completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,476 yards and 20 touchdowns with only two interceptions while rushing for 196 yards and six more scores.

Klubnik missed a few games after sustaining an injury to his left (non-throwing) shoulder in Westlake’s game against Bowie (Austin, Texas) on Oct. 8, but returned Friday night against Lake Travis (Austin) and accounted for five total touchdowns while leading his team to a 63-21 victory.

“Feeling better, taking it day by day,” Klubnik said of how his shoulder is feeling.

Klubnik is the No. 1 QB and No. 21 overall prospect in the 2022 class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Cade Klubnik got some good news Wednesday.

Clemson’s five-star quarterback commit out of Westlake High School (Austin, TX.)

Klubnik’s head coach, Todd Dodge, appeared on The Horn, a local Austin sports radio station, and announced the news that Clemson fans had been waiting to hear.

“Cade is healthy and ready to go,” he said.

Klubnik missed less than a month with an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. He’ll be back under center for an important rivalry game when Westlake (9-0) takes on Lake Travis (8-1) this Friday.

Last week, he was honored as a 2022 All-American. He was asked during an appearance on NBCSports why he chose Clemson.

“It’s just the people,” Klubnik said. “The people are just unlike anyone else. The way they make you feel like family and just the culture that’s there and the consistency of success through the program. I’m just so excited to be able to get there and hopefully help out the team in whatever way.”

It’s good that he’s back healthy since he’ll be arriving in Tiger Town in January.

Klubnik ranks as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 21 overall prospect in the nation in the class of 2022, per the 247Sports Composite.

This Clemson commit received the honor of a lifetime.

Five-star quarterback pledge Cade Klubnik was honored as a 2022 All-American on Thursday night. The Westlake (Austin, TX.) quarterback had the opportunity to discuss his lifelong dream of playing in the All-American Bowl, which will take place in San Antonio (TX.) on Jan. 8, 2022.

“It’s definitely probably one of the biggest honors I’ve ever received just as a football player,” Klubnik said in an interview that aired on NBC Sports Wednesday night. “Just growing up, me and my dad went to the games…I kind of just thought it was a dream of mine.”

Klubnik kept the first ticket he ever got from the prestigious bowl game, in which the best 100 high school football players in the country play yearly. He keeps it on the mirror in his bathroom and he looks at it every single day.

“I have probably for the past 4 or 5 years,” he said. “It always just motivated me every day and to be able to really put on this jersey, to say that I’m going to play in the game, it means everything.”

Although he’s currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, Klubnik has the unique opportunity to quarterback for the team he always dreamed of playing for.

Now at Westlake, he’s been able to follow in the footsteps of Drew Brees, Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger, which is something he’ll never take for granted, he said.

Klubnik will be heading up to Clemson in January and was again asked about why he chose to verbally pledge to the Tigers.

“It’s just the people,” Klubnik said. “The people are just unlike anyone else. The way they make you feel like family and just the culture that’s there and the consistency of success through the program. I’m just so excited to be able to get there and hopefully help out the team in whatever way.”

Klubnik ranks as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 21 overall prospect in the nation in the class of 2022, per the 247Sports Composite.

Clemson’s five-star commit Cade Klubnik left Westlake’s game Friday night with an apparent shoulder injury.

Klubnik showed his athleticism by catching a pass from one of his skill player teammates. He was taken down inside the goal line and appeared to land on his non-throwing shoulder awkwardly.

He spent 10 minutes in the injury tent and then left the stadium in a golf cart.

While Klubnik appeared to receive some good news on that injured shoulder, he took to Twitter on Saturday to alleviate any concerns that Clemson fans may have.

Per the Austin American Stateman, Klubnik separated his shoulder and may only miss a couple of games.
