Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Buffalo Sabres (10-25-6) visit the Boston Bruins (21-12-6) Tuesday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at TD Garden. Below, we analyze the Sabres-Bruins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Prior to the NHL trade deadline, the Sabres traded LW Taylor Hall to the Bruins for a player and a pick. He actually planned to drive to Boston Monday, and feels he’ll be ready to face his former team Tuesday.

The Sabres had been showing signs of life prior to shipping Hall away, going 4-2-2 across their past eight outings. Hall was a healthy scratch in the past four games, as they kept him healthy to get ready for a trade.

The Bruins received a scare from the Sabres in their most recent meeting in Boston March 27, sneaking by with a 3-2 win. If Hall is ready to debut, he is expected to skate on the second line with David Krejci and Craig Smith.

Sabres at Bruins: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sabres +270 (bet $100 to win $270) | Bruins -350 (bet $350 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sabres +1.5 (+105) | Bruins -1.5 (-125)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Sabres at Bruins: Projected starting goalies

Linus Ullmark (9-6-3, 2.64 GAA, .917 SV%) vs. Tuukka Rask (8-4-2, 2.40 GAA, .907 SV%)

Ullmark has been tremendous for the Sabres when healthy. He has accounted for nine of their 10 victories on the season and has rattled off wins in four of his past five starts, including a 5-3 Sabres win at the Philadelphia Flyers Sunday. He was in net against Boston March 27 and made 33 saves in the 3-2 loss.

Rask hasn’t started since March 25 due to an upper-body injury, so rookie Jeremy Swayman and Dan Vladar have been holding down the fort with Jaroslav Halak also away due to COVID-19. Rask was hot prior to going down in allowing a total of 3 goals in 203:15 of crease time across four games.

Sabres at Bruins: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bruins 4, Sabres 3

Money line (ML)

The Bruins (-350) are just way too expensive, costing more than three times your potential return. That’s risky business against a Sabres side which has been pesky lately, and which has a red-hot goaltender between the pipes.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Bruins stocked up for what they hope is a deep playoff run, while the SABRES +1.5 (+105) had a fire sale prior to the trade deadline.

Buffalo has already had over a week to adjust to life without Hall on the ice, and has a hot goalie. Meanwhile, the B’s welcome back Rask, who could have some rust after a multi-week layoff.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-115) is the lean. While Ullmark has been giving them a chance every night, it’s the young offensive players which have stepped up. With Hall in the press box for his final four games in Buffalo, the Sabres actually averaged 4.0 goals per game to go on a 4-0 Over run.

The Bruins were just toasted 8-1 Sunday against the Washington Capitals, and they hit the Over in three of their past four games, and two of their previous three on home ice.

New York Rangers at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s New York Rangers at Buffalo Sabres NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Rangers (17-15-4) play the second of a two-game set against the Buffalo Sabres (7-23-6) Saturday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at KeyBank Center. Below, we analyze the Rangers-Sabres odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Rangers won the front end of the back-to-back set Thursday, posting a 3-2 victory in overtime as the Under connected. New York has won two of the past three, and they have won three of the past five games on the road.

The Sabres lost for the 19th time in the past 20 games, but they have been competitive of late. Buffalo has picked up at least one point in each of the past three, including a 6-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on March 31.

Rangers at Sabres: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rangers -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Sabres +210 (bet $100 to win $210)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rangers -1.5 (+105) | Sabres +1.5 (-130)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Rangers at Sabres: Projected starting goalies

Igor Shesterkin (9-8-1, 2.29 GAA, .924 SV%) vs. Linus Ullmark (6-5-3, 2.49 GAA, .920 SV%)

The 25-year-old was in between the pipes Thursday, as he turned aside 21 of the 23 shots he faced to win 3-2 in overtime. He has won two straight starts and five of his past six outings.

Shesterkin is also 3-0-0 with a 1.92 GAA and .917 SV% in three starts against the Sabres this season, with all three games decided by a 3-2 score, including two in overtime.

Ullmark allowed just one goal on 32 shots in a 6-1 win last time out against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday, helping the Sabres snap a franchise-worst 18-game winless drought.

He heads into this one 1-0-1 with a 2.44 GAA and .928 SV% in two starts against the Rangers this season.

Rangers at Sabres: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Rangers 3, Sabres 2

Money line (ML)

The Rangers (-250) are a little too expensive for my liking, especially since four of the previous five meetings this season have been one-goal games. The Sabres (+210) really seem to play New York tough.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SABRES +1.5 (-130) aren’t terribly expensive catching a goal and a half on home ice. They covered the puck line in the front end of the back-to-back, falling 3-2.

In fact, four of the previous five games in this series have been 3-2 scores, with the Rangers winning three of those outings. Two have been decided in overtime, too. Back Buffalo.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-120) is worth playing, as four of the five meetings this season have cashed the Under. The Under is also 10-5 in Shesterkin’s past 15 starts, including 3-0 in his three assignments against Buffalo.

New York Rangers at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s New York Rangers at Buffalo Sabres NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The New York Rangers (16-15-4) kick off a two-game set against the Buffalo Sabres (7-23-5) Thursday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at KeyBank Center. Below, we analyze the Rangers-Sabres odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Rangers picked up a 5-2 victory against the Washington Capitals Tuesday night behind G Igor Shesterkin. New York has won four of its past six games, while hitting the Over in four of its past five contests. That includes a 5-3 win March 22 in the most recent meeting with the Sabres at Madison Square Garden.

The Sabres finally snapped their franchise-worst 18-game losing skid with a 6-1 thumping of the Philadelphia Flyers Wednesday. It was Buffalo’s first win since Feb. 23; the skid was the longest in the NHL in 17 years. The Sabres also snapped an ugly 0-9-2 drought on home ice while giving interim head coach Don Granato his first victory behind the bench.

Rangers at Sabres: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rangers -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Sabres +210 (bet $100 to win $210)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rangers -1.5 (+110) | Sabres +1.5 (-135)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Rangers at Sabres: Projected starting goalies

Igor Shesterkin (8-8-1, 2.32 GAA, .925 SV%) vs. Linus Ullmark (6-5-3, 2.49 GAA, .920 SV%)

Shesterkin looks to carry his momentum into April. He went 4-1-0 with a 2.05 GAA and .941 SV% in five starts in March, including a 3-2 victory over the Sabres. He also topped the Sabres in Buffalo Jan. 28, with the Rangers winning 3-2 in overtime.

Ullmark backed the Sabres to their first victory in over a month, and he was also in the crease for that one. He missed a month due to a lower-body injury, but he is 1-1-1 with a 2.68 GAA and .923 SV% in three starts since returning from the injured reserve list.

Rangers at Sabres: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Rangers 3, Sabres 2

Money line (ML)

The Rangers (-250) should be able to push the Sabres back into the loss column after Buffalo’s stunning 6-1 win Wednesday against Philadelphia; however, you can’t risk two times your potential return on the road team.

PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SABRES +1.5 (-135) are worth backing on home ice. No, really.

They finally snapped that ugly skid, and while I expected them to lose, three of the four meetings between New York and Buffalo this season were decided by one goal.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-115) is worth playing, as it cashed in three of the four meetings this season. While the Sabres lit the lamp 6 times Wednesday, they have still found the back of the net just 19 times across their past 10 games.

The Under is also 4-1 in the past five meetings, and 5-1 in the past six meetings in Buffalo.

Philadelphia Flyers at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Philadelphia Flyers at Buffalo Sabres NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Buffalo Sabres (6-23-5) will try once again to snap a losing skid, now sitting at 18 games, when they host the Philadelphia Flyers (17-13-4) for the second straight game Wednesday. Puck drop at KeyBank Center will be at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Flyers-Sabres odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Sabres coughed up a 3-0 40-minute lead Monday in a 4-3 overtime loss. The Flyers scored thrice in the third period and again in the first minute of OT for a second straight win. They sit fifth in the East Division.

Buffalo is eighth in the East and hasn’t won since beating the New Jersey Devils 4-1 Feb. 23. Only two of its last 18 losses went beyond regulation time.

Flyers at Sabres: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:27 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers -190 (bet $190 to win $100) | Sabres +160 (bet $160 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flyers -1.5 (+145) | Sabres +1.5 (-175)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Flyers at Sabres: Projected starting goalies

Brian Elliott (9-4-1, .893 SV%, 2.84 GAA) vs. Linus Ullmark (5-5-3, .916 SV%, 2.60 GAA)

Elliott continues to handle No. 1 duties in favor of the struggling Carter Hart. The 35-year-old veteran has won the last two games for Philly following a personal three-game losing skid. He improved to 4-0-0 against the Sabres for the season with Monday’s win. H has two shutouts in the head-to-head series.

Ullmark will make his third start since a monthlong injury absence. He has allowed 7 goals on 72 shots in his last two games. Monday’s game was his first of the season against Philadelphia.

Flyers at Sabres: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Sabres 3, Flyers 2

Money line (ML)

The SABRES (+160) were close enough to victory Monday they should be backed to seal the deal in Wednesday’s rematch.

The Flyers are still just 6-9-1 in March even after back-to-back victories and fatigue is a concern for Elliott with his increased workload.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Sabres are 1-3-2 against the Flyers in the head-to-head season series following Monday’s OT loss. They have a 6-1 win and three 3-0 losses, and both of the last two meetings went beyond 60 minutes with a March 9 contest in Philadelphia going to a shootout.

While the money line offers a much nicer return on investment, the SABRES +1.5 (-175) should be backed with 1 goal of insurance to keep it close once again.

Over/Under (O/U)

Ullmark has given the Sabres a much better chance to win games than any other Buffalo goaltender this season. Elliott has also been the better of the two Philly netminders.

Back the UNDER 6 (-120) with both teams averaging less than 50% of the scoring chances at 5-on-5 in their games this season.

Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Buffalo Sabres (6-22-4) travel to meet the Boston Bruins (16-8-5) Saturday for a 1 p.m. ET puck drop at TD Garden. Below, we analyze the Sabres-Bruins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Sabres at Bruins: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:07 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sabres +325 (bet $100 to win $325) | Bruins -400 (bet $400 to $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sabres +1.5 (+110) | Bruins -1.5 (-135)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Sabres at Bruins: Projected starting goalies

Dustin Tokarski (0-3-0, 4.11 GAA, .890 SV%) vs. Jaroslav Halak (7-4-3, 2.25 GAA, .915 SV%, 2 SO)

Tokarski continues to handle the No. 1 duties with Linus Ullmark still dealing with a lower-body injury, and Jonas Johansson having been traded to the Colorado Avalanche.

The Sabres are in the midst of a 16-game winless streak, and they are starting to unload some veterans, too. The team dealt Eric Staal to the Montreal Canadiens on Friday.

Halak is looking to bounce back after coughing up four goals on 21 shots in Thursday’s overtime loss against the Islanders. He has dropped three of his past four starts, but that one win during the span was a 4-1 victory March 18 in Buffalo.

Special NHL Betting Promotion!

Sabres at Bruins: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bruins 4, Sabres 1

Money line (ML)

As you would expect, betting against a team on a 16-game winless streak is expensive. The Bruins (-400) will cost you four times your potential return, which is not a recommended play.

Yes, Buffalo hasn’t won since Feb. 23 in New Jersey, but you can’t risk that kind of dough. AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The BRUINS -1.5 (-135) will even cost you some juice on the puck line, but they’re a much better play at this price point. I’ve been playing puck lines against the Sabres +1.5 (+110) rather frequently during their skid, cashing most nights.

Four straight losses by Buffalo have been by two or more goals, and they have dropped 10 of the past 12 by two or more goals. That means the favorite is hitting plenty of puck lines against the Sabres lately.

Playing the alternate line of BRUINS -2.5 (+140) is worth a roll of the dice, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-120) is worth a look, but I’d go lightly on this one. The Sabres offense has been toothless and showing no signs of breaking out.

However, they have allowed four or more goals in four straight, including the last meeting with Boston on March 18. The B’s could easily handle six goals on their own, so just be careful.

The Buffalo Sabres (6-21-4) visit the Pittsburgh Penguins (20-11-2) for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena. Below, we analyze the Sabres-Penguins odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Sabres at Penguins: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sabres +250 (bet $100 to win $250) | Penguins -300 (bet $300 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sabres +1.5 (+105) | Penguins -1.5 (-125)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Sabres at Penguins: Projected starting goalies

Dustin Tokarski (0-2-0, .886 SV%, 4.64 GAA) vs. Casey DeSmith (7-3-0, .919 SV%, 2.11 GAA)

Tokarski started Monday against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden and allowed 4 goals in a loss. For the 31-year-old, the game at MSG marked his first NHL start since December of 2015. Tokarski followed that effort up by allowing 5 goals in Wednesday’s loss to the Pens.

DeSmith has been tremendous in five starts since late-February. Over the five turns, the 29-year-old has registered a .956 SV%. The middle of those five efforts was a 24-save shutout at Buffalo March 13.

Sabres at Penguins: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pittsburgh 3, Buffalo 1

Money line (ML)

Buffalo has been reeling. The Sabres are 0-13-2 over their last 15 games and over that stretch, Buffalo has been outshot by nearly 10 shots per game. Thursday’s game is the back half of two games in two days; the Penguins took Wednesday’s game 5-2 and outshot the Sabres 42-28.

The Sabres are banged up with C Jack Eichel (upper body) out since March 7 and their top two netminders — G Carter Hutton (undisclosed) and G Linus Ullmark (lower body) — also on the shelf.

The Pens are in the midst of playing more meaningful games because of their third-place standing in the East Division. Pittsburgh is the lean, but PASS on the straight-up play and leverage the lighter juice on the puck line.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Pittsburgh is a robust 13-3-1 at home. The second-to-last time the Pens played back-to-back days at home, the second game yielded a 5-1 win (March 7 vs. the Rangers).

BACK THE PENGUINS -1.5 (-125).

Over/Under (O/U)

Ride DeSmith against a banged-up Buffalo side, and the yield here is a DECENT VALUE ON THE UNDER 6 (-115).

Sabres at Penguins: Projected starting goalies

Dustin Tokarski (0-1-0, .892 SV%, 4.26 GAA) vs. Tristan Jarry (12-8-2, .909 SV%, 2.86 GAA)

Tokarski started Monday against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden and allowed 4 goals in a loss. For the 31-year-old, the game at MSG marked his first NHL start since December of 2015. Tokarski owns a .904 career SV% and a 2.88 career GAA across 27 starts and eight relief appearances.

Jarry is coming off back-to-back losses but is 3-1-1 with a .942 SV% over his last five starts. That stretch includes the 25-year-old netminder stopping 21 of 23 shots against these Sabres March 11.

Money line (ML)

Buffalo has been reeling. The Sabres are 0-12-2 over their last 14 games and over that stretch, Buffalo has been outshot by nine shots per game (33.4 to 24.4).

Now, the Sabres are banged up with C Jack Eichel (upper body) out since March 7 and their top two netminders — G Carter Hutton (undisclosed) and G Linus Ullmark (lower body) — also on the shelf.

Buffalo Sabres at New Jersey Devils odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Buffalo Sabres at New Jersey Devils NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Buffalo Sabres (6-17-4) travel to meet the New Jersey Devils (8-13-4) Tuesday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Prudential Center. Below, we analyze the Sabres-Devils odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Sabres at Devils: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 10:10 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Sabres +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Devils -165 (bet $165 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Sabres +1.5 (-200) | Devils -1.5 (+165)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Sabres at Devils: Projected starting goalies

Jonas Johansson (0-4-1, 3.91 GAA, .883 SV%) vs. Mackenzie Blackwood (5-8-1, 3.12 GAA, .900 SV%)

Johansson has made six appearances this season, and he has allowed four or more goals in each of his past four starts. He hasn’t yet faced the Devils and has been limited to three appearances against the Philadelphia Flyers, two against the New York Islanders and one against the Pittsburgh Penguins. This projects as his easiest assignment.

Blackwood has dropped six consecutive starts, with his last victory coming Feb. 25 in a 4-3 overtime win at Buffalo. He is also 1-2-0 with a 3.04 GAA and .907 SV% in three starts against the Sabres this season. He is better on the road than at home, too, going 1-7-1 with a 3.20 GAA and .887 SV% in nine home games, while going 4-1-0 with a 2.99 GAA and .917 SV% in five road games.

Sabres at Devils: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Devils 3, Sabres 2

Money line (ML)

The DEVILS (-165) are worth playing lightly, as they’re catching a poor Sabres team coming off a 6-0 dusting on home ice against the Washington Capitals Monday. The Sabres have been shut out in back-to-back games, so the Devils are catching them at a really good time.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Neither of these teams are playing well enough to trust on the puck line. I expect the Devils -1.5 (+165) to get by in this one, but they are 0-2-2 in their past four games.

Each of their past three wins since Feb. 18 was by one goal. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the way to go, as the Sabres cannot buy a goal lately. The Under also hit in the past two games for the Devils, and they are averaging just 2.48 goals per game to rank 26th in the NHL. Their power play is also just 28th, which is bad news for the offense.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (16-9-1) wrap up a two-game set on the road against the Buffalo Sabres (6-15-4) Saturday with a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at KeyBank Center. Below, we analyze the Penguins-Sabres odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

Penguins at Sabres: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Penguins -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Sabres +195 (bet $100 to win $195)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Penguins -1.5 (+115) | Sabres +1.5 (-140)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Penguins at Sabres: Projected starting goalies

Tristan Jarry (11-7-1, 3.00 GAA, .901 SV%) vs. Carter Hutton (1-7-1, 3.40 GAA, .883 SV%)

Jarry is in the midst of a three-game win streak, tying a season-best. He polished off the Sabres with 21 saves on 23 shots in a 5-2 win on Thursday. While Jarry has allowed three or fewer goals in each of the three victories, he has also been the beneficiary of plenty of offensive support with 13 total goals, or 4.33 goals per game.

Hutton has really struggled in net for the Sabres while Linus Ullmark is on the shelf. Sabres G Jonas Johansson coughed up four goals on 26 shots against Pittsburgh in the first meeting, so now it’s Hutton’s turn. Hutton has not won since Jan. 18, a span of seven straight appearances.

Penguins at Sabres: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Penguins 5, Sabres 2

Money line (ML)

The Penguins (-250) are likely to pick up the win against the skidding Sabres (+195), but risking more than two and a half times your potential return on a road team is not a good long-term betting strategy.

PASS, and look to the puck line instead.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The PENGUINS -1.5 (+115) are a better play for the potential plus-return. They cashed in the front end of the back-to-back, though.

The Sabres have really struggled on offense with C Jack Eichel on the shelf due to injury. Pittsburgh has rattled off three straight puck-line covers, and they’ll do so again in this one, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6 (-115) is the play here, as the Pens should pile up plenty of offense against Hutton. The worry with an Over play is the scuffling Sabres offense, which has posted just 14 total goals across the past eight outings.

But, if they can just get to at least two goals, which they have done in each of the past six, then the Over is a slam-dunk play.

Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Pittsburgh Penguins at Buffalo Sabres NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (15-9-1) begin a two-game set on the road against the Buffalo Sabres (6-14-4) Thursday with a 7 p.m.

Lines last updated at 8 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Penguins -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Sabres +170 (bet $100 to win $170)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Penguins -1.5 (+135) | Sabres +1.5 (-160)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Penguins at Sabres: Projected starting goalies

Tristan Jarry (10-7-1, 3.05 GAA, .900 SV%) vs. Carter Hutton (1-7-1, 3.40 GAA, .883 SV%)

Jarry is looking to match a season-high three-game win streak. He allowed two goals on 35 shots Tuesday against the New York Rangers and stopped 19 of 22 shots against the Philadelphia Flyers Saturday. Jarry hasn’t faced the Sabres yet this season.

Hutton has been doing the heavy lifting with Linus Ullmark battling a lower-body injury. He hasn’t been handling the extra workload well, having coughed up 3 or more goals in each of his past four starts, including 5 goals on 29 shots in a 5-2 road loss against the New York Islanders Saturday.

Bet $1 on either team’s money line, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team scores a goal in the game. Betting offer available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA and WV. Place your legal, online bets at BetMGM. New customer offer, terms and conditions apply. Bet now!

Penguins at Sabres: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Penguins 4, Sabres 2

Money line (ML)

The Penguins (-200) will cost you two times your potential return. While the Sabres are playing awful hockey right now, with no improvement in sight, risking two times your return is not a good long-term betting strategy.

AVOID, and look to the puck line instead.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The PENGUINS -1.5 (+135) are a much better value at plus-money, even on the road. The Sabres haven’t won since Feb. 23, going 0-6-2 across their past eight outings.

With superstar C Jack Eichel (upper body) on the shelf with Ullmark, Buffalo is having a hard time treading water and avoiding loss after loss.

Over/Under (O/U)

I expect a TOTAL of 6, which would be right on the number. Look to the alternate line and take OVER 5.5 (-145) instead.

Buffalo is skidding hard and has allowed 19 total goals in regulation over its past four outings.
