Bucs Report Card: How we graded Tampa Bay’s loss to Houston in Week 9

Tampa Bay’s defense and coaching might have to retake the class.

We’ve called a few games this season Tampa Bay’s most disappointing loss. And while the Atlanta Falcons game in Week 7 was probably an overall worse performance than Week 9’s game against the Texans, the lows of this game were almost certainly much lower.

The team lost 39-37 to the Texans off a Houston drive led by C.J. Stroud that took less than a minute and gave up approximately a bajillion yards on defense. The offense played well, but the team was weighed down by a coaching performance and defensive ineptitude that the team hasn’t experienced all year and the game served as another example of a team that is actively getting worse as the weeks go by.

Here is how we graded Tampa Bay’s defeat at the hands of the Texans:

The defense gets high marks for holding a high-octane Lions offense to just 20 points, but offense and coaching get failing grades for Sunday.

Class was in session on Sunday for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and it’s safe to say that they failed the test.

The Bucs dropped their second game of the season to the Detroit Lions on Sunday 20-6, and despite still remaining in first place for the NFC South, the team has a myriad of issues that will certainly prevent them from competing with good football teams if they don’t get fixed. Bucs Wire goes into that a little bit with our Bucs Report Card, where we grade the team’s offense, defense, special teams and coaching after every Tampa Bay football game.

Bucs Report Card: How we graded Tampa Bay’s win over New Orleans in Week 4

Tampa Bay passes with high marks after an offense that found the end zone and a defense that stifled the Saints took the dub on Sunday.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Week 4 matchup against the New Orleans Saints was a test for the team, and head coach Todd Bowles and his unit certainly studied.

The Bucs beat the Saints 26-9 in an absolute drubbing on Sunday, winning their first NFC South contest of the season before heading to their early bye week at 3-1. The win saw Tampa Bay rise to the top of the NFC South division and saw the Saints fall all the way down to third with a 2-2 record. While there were a few missteps here and there, this was overall a dominant game that deserves flowers on just about every side.
