Milwaukee Bucks at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Charlotte Hornets and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Charlotte Hornets (21-19) host the Milwaukee Bucks (26-16) for the second game of their back-to-back set Monday at Spectrum Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bucks vs. Hornets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Hornets won the first of their back-to-back versus the Bucks 114-106 as 1.5-point favorites Saturday. It was Charlotte’s second straight victory and Milwaukee’s third loss in its last four games.

The Hornets are 4-2 straight-up (SU), 4-2 ATS and 2-4 O/U over the last two weeks with the 10th-best adjusted net rating at plus-4.8 points per 100 possessions, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

The Bucks have the eighth-best adjusted net rating at plus-6.0 points per 100 possessions across that same span, per CTG.

The Bucks-Hornets head-to-head series is tied at 1-1 SU this season but Charlotte has covered both games.

Bucks at Hornets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hornets 118, Bucks 112

Money line

SPRINKLE on the HORNETS (+110) with the plan of betting more on their spread because they match up very well against the Bucks.

Milwaukee allows its opponents to attempt the most 3-pointers per game in the NBA and Charlotte has the second-best 3-point shooting percentage.

The Hornets also have a lot more depth currently than this banged-up Bucks roster. Milwaukee is still missing two of its top-three players by adjusted on/off net rating in Holiday and Hill (CTG).

On top of that, Charlotte’s bench averages 35.9 points per game (PPG) while Milwaukee’s bench averages 27.9 PPG, which is the third-worst mark in the NBA.

Milwaukee got awesome performances out of All-Stars F Giannis Antetokounmpo (43 points on 55.0% shooting) and G Khris Middleton (27 points on 52.9% shooting) Saturday but got little help from their teammates — the Hornets bench outscored the Bucks bench 33-5.

Since role players perform better at home and Milwaukee allows opponents to chuck 3-pointers, which is Charlotte’s wheelhouse, I don’t see this Hornets-Bucks contest playing out much differently than the last one.

SPRINKLE on the HORNETS (+110).

Against the spread

BET the HORNETS +2.5 (-115) heavier than — or instead of — their money line because this is a better spot for Charlotte.

The Hornets are 8-1 ATS at home versus teams with a winning record and 6-1 ATS in their last seven meetings with the Bucks. These ATS trends are applicable here since this game is priced as a coin-flip.

The HORNETS +2.5 (-115) is my favorite wager in this game.

Over/Under

PASS since Saturday’s Bucks-Hornets meeting went 15.5 points below the total (235.5), which is just shy of this game’s total. Apparently, the oddsmakers aren’t overreacting to Saturday’s result.

For what it’s worth, I “lean” to the Under 236.5 (-115) since the Bucks are still missing some firepower and the Hornets are 2-6 O/U over their last eight games.

However, Both teams play at a top-10 pace and I’m nervous about Milwaukee allowing Charlotte to hoist 3-pointers.

Milwaukee Bucks at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Charlotte Hornets and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Milwaukee Bucks (26-15) play the second of a back-to-back Saturday versus the Charlotte Hornets (20-19) at Spectrum Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bucks vs. Hornets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

A banged-up Milwaukee team broke out of its two-game slump by whooping the Brooklyn Nets last night (Friday) 121-109 as 4.5-point road underdogs.

Over the past two weeks, the Bucks are 5-2 straight-up (SU), 4-3 ATS and 5-2 O/U with the fourth-best adjusted net rating at plus-8.1 points per 100 possessions, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Charlotte also busted a two-game losing skid in its last game when the Hornets (-10.5) beat the brakes off the Detroit Pistons 140-111 Wednesday.

In the last 14 days, the Hornets are 3-2 SU, 3-2 ATS and 2-3 O/U with the  13th-best adjusted net rating at plus-3.8 points per 100 possessions, per CTG.

The Bucks beat the Hornets in Milwaukee in a 127-125 shootout Dec. 1 but Charlotte easily covered as 9-point road underdogs. Also, the Hornets have covered five of their last six meetings with the Bucks.

Bucks at Hornets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hornets 121, Bucks 115

Money line

TAKE the HORNETS (-120) for 1 unit because they’ve played well against the Bucks (+100) recently and are 4-1 SU as a home favorite with a plus-15.6 scoring margin.

Furthermore, Charlotte has covered 10 of their last 11 home games and four straight as a home favorite. While Milwaukee is an NBA’s worst 7-14 ATS on the second of a back-to-back since the start of last season. These ATS trends are applicable because this game is priced as a coin-flip.

Also, Hornets’ second-year PG LaMelo Ball is averaging 31.5 points per on 83.5% true shooting (.625/.556/1.000) and 9.0 assists per in his two career games against Milwaukee.

Ball should have an easier getting himself and his teammates good looks because one of the best perimeter defenders in the Association, Bucks PG Jrue Holiday, is sidelined on the health and safety protocols list.

Lastly, the Hornets have been hit by sharp money since Charlotte opened at -107 (according to Pregame.com) and has been steamed up to the current price.

BET 1 unit on the HORNETS (-120).

Against the spread

PASS since Charlotte’s money line is only 10 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Hornets -1.5 (-110). Don’t be cheap if you’re following me here and just take Charlotte SU.

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 234.5 (-115) for a small wager, if at all, because I much prefer the Charlotte side more so than the total.

That said, the Over has cashed in three of the past four Bucks-Hornets meetings. Milwaukee is 5-2 O/U in its past seven games and Charlotte is 9-5-1 O/U at home.

Milwaukee Bucks at Charlotte Hornets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Charlotte Hornets NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Milwaukee Bucks (11-7) stop by the Spectrum Center Saturday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off with the Charlotte Hornets (8-11). Below, we analyze the Bucks-Hornets NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Bucks were upset 131-126 on the road by the New Orleans Pelicans last night as 6.5-point favorites. Milwaukee has looked bad on national TV with its last three losses being in primetime games against the Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers (Jan. 21) and Brooklyn Nets (Jan. 18).

Charlotte also played Friday, but the Hornets came out on the winning end against the Indiana Pacers to split their two-game miniseries. The Hornets are hoping last night’s win is a step in the right direction because Charlotte has won just two of its last eight games.

Milwaukee has won five straight vs. Charlotte but have only covered two of those games – mostly because they have been favored at least 11 points in all of those matchups.

Bucks at Hornets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bucks 122, Hornets 107

Money line (ML)

PASS. Betting NBA regular-season money line favorites of -150 or greater is a bad long-term strategy.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Bucks hoist the sixth-most threes per game and are connecting at the fourth-highest rate while the Hornets are 27th in opponent’s 3-point attempts per game.

Also, Charlotte has the lowest defensive rebound percentage in the Association, which could be major trouble against the Bucks, who have the seventh-highest offensive rebounding percentage.

Milwaukee’s defense has dipped since last season because the Bucks have the third-worst 3-point defense, but the Bucks are still second in both opponent’s fast break points and opponent’s points in the paint per game.

Hornets SF Gordon Hayward is having an impressive first season in Charlotte, but he’s going to be responsible for Bucks SF Khris Middleton who’s an under-the-radar All-NBA second team guy.

Middleton is sixth in win shares and 20th in offensive rating in the Association and leads the Bucks in each of those categories. If Hayward doesn’t use bandwidth to check Middleton then he could wreak havoc on Charlotte’s defense.

Finally, in the last five Bucks-Hornets games, Giannis Antetokounmpo has scored at least 26 points in each, shot better than 60% from the field four times and had at least 13 rebounds in four of those meetings.

lean BUCKS -8.5 (-110) for a half-unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

The market has steamed this total up from the 228-point opener with more than 90% betting the Over, according to pregame.com. While it’s still early and those percentages will even out a bit, it’s a good indication of how the public feels about this game.

The reasons why I’m on UNDER 230.5 (-110) are because Milwaukee’s defense got embarrassed last night, and Charlotte’s offense is too inconsistent. The Hornets got hot last night from three vs. the Pacers for a stretch but only ended up at 108 points. Milwaukee will be motivated to shut down Charlotte after getting rolled by the Pelicans Friday.
