The Boston Bruins (3-2-1) take on the Nashville Predators (0-5-0) as part of the NHL’s “Frozen Frenzy” Tuesday. Puck drop from Bridgestone Arena is set for 8:45 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NHL odds around the Bruins vs. Predators odds and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Boston swept 2-0 last season

The B’s are on the final leg of a 3-game road trip after beating Colorado 5-3 Wednesday as +118 underdogs and losing 2-1 in OT to Utah Saturday as -139 favorites. RW David Pastrnak was a -2, had 2 shots on goal, 0 points and a costly penalty in overtime vs. Utah. It was just the 2nd time this season he was held without a point.

The Preds are still winless after making possibly the biggest splash this offseason via free agency. They fell 5-2 Saturday as -192 home favorites against the Detroit Red Wings. C Steven Stamkos scored his 1st goal as a Pred. It was in his patented spot on the left wing on the power play for a one-timer. That tied the game at 2 in the first minute of the 3rd period, but Detroit netted 3 more to finish it off.

Bruins at Predators projected goalies

Jeremy Swayman (2-1-1, 2.71 GAA, .905 SV%) vs. Juuse Saros (0-4-0, 3.64 GAA, .875 SV%)

Swayman was the tough-luck loser last time out, stopping 30 of 32 in Saturday’s OT loss at Utah. He made 1 start against Nashville last season and stopped 33 of 35 in a 3-2 win.

Saros hasn’t been terrible thus far. He did allow 6 goals to Seattle in his 2nd start, but it has been 2 or 3 goals allowed in the rest. He stopped 19 of 22 in the 5-2 loss to Detroit Saturday. He was 0-2-0 with a 2.58 GAA and .918 SV% against Boston last season.

Bruins at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 5, Predators 3

Moneyline

I understand why Nashville is favored here. The Predators are far too talented to be 0-5 or go 0-6. But it’s happening. They have been outscored 19-7 over their last 4 games. The Preds are 1-5-1 against Boston this decade. They can beat up on the Chicago Blackhawks (Friday) and Columbus Blue Jackets (Saturday) after this game. I’m TAKING BRUINS (+115).

Puck line/Against the spread

Pastrnak had a bad game last time out. I feel like he’s going to be extra motivated in this one. Take DAVID PASTRNAK ANYTIME GOAL (+125).

Over/Under

The B’s are 4-2 O/U thus far, and Nashville is 3-2. Boston is tied for 10th at 3.5 goals/game and 7th with a 13.3% shooting percentage. Nashville has lost the last 4 games by multiple goals and have allowed 5 empty-netters already.

This one is going OVER 6 (-110).
