Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Brooklyn Nets (27-45) face the Washington Wizards (14-58) Wednesday. Tip-off from Capital One Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nets vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Nets lead 2-1

The Washington Wizards have won 3 games in a row! It’s way too late to help, but at least it shows they can win.

They beat the Chicago Bulls 107-105 Monday despite shooting worse from the field (40.2% vs. 41.4%) and having more turnovers (14 vs. 12) and fewer free throws (18 vs. 28). They did have more offensive rebounds and points off turnovers, both of which helped their momentum.

The Nets ended their 6-game losing streak in a uniquely low 96-88 win over the Toronto Raptors Monday. The Nets had twice as many turnovers (20 vs. 10) but dominated the boards (50 vs. 30).

Nets at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Wizards 117, Nets 113

Moneyline

Washington is a bad team, but Brooklyn may not be at an advantage in this matchup. While they are 15-8 as favorites, that number drops to 4-5 in road games. I like the value here.

LEAN WIZARDS (+125).

Against the spread

Both of these teams stink after a win. The Wizards are just 5-8 ATS after a victory (38.5%), while the Nets are a slightly worse 9-15-2 (37.5%). The Nets also have the 4th worst record ATS as a road favorite (3-6) so I will take the points.

BET WIZARDS +3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Wizards are bad in most metrics this season. However, they do well pushing the ball up the court. They score the 2nd-most fastbreak points per game (17.4) in the NBA, and the Nets allow the 5th-most points from fastbreaks (15.3).

Add that with Brooklyn’s 61.5% Over rate after a win, and I expect points to be scored.

LEAN OVER 223.5 (-110).

Nets at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 119, Wizards 111

Moneyline

I’ll PASS on the moneyline given the current odds for the Nets (-210). Brooklyn has been the much better team as of late, but taking them straight up isn’t advised.

Against the spread

NETS -5.5 (-105) is an enticing wager considering how Brooklyn has been playing recently. The Nets will have F Kevin Durant and G Kyrie Irving back on the court Monday while the Wizards still won’t have Beal available.

The Nets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record and they are 3-1-2 ATS in their last 6 meetings with the Wizards.

Over/Under

Even with Beal ruled out for tonight’s game, OVER 228.5 (-110) is where I’m leaning in this contest. Both of these teams are in the bottom half of the league in defensive rating, so plenty of points could be scored in this game.

The Wizards are 3-0-2 to the Over in their last 5 games and they are 5-0-1 to the Over in their last 6 games following an ATS loss.

Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Washington Wizards (4-4) welcome the Brooklyn Nets (2-6) to Capital One Arena Friday. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Nets vs. Wizards odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Nets have struggled this season and with G Kyrie Irving suspended at least the next 5 games things may get even uglier. Irving averaged 26.9 points per game for Brooklyn.

G Joe Harris will likely take his place in the starting lineup. The Nets have lost 5 of their last 6 games including a 108-99 defeat on the road against the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.

The Wizards, who started out 3-1, have struggled recently and have lost 3 of their last 4. They did win their last game, 121-111 over Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Washington has been led in scoring by G Bradley Beal, who is averaging 21.8 points per game. He has finally gotten some help in the form of F Kristaps Porzingis and F Kyle Kuzma. They have combined to average another 38.3 points per game.

Nets at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Wizards 114, Nets 106

Moneyline

PASS.

I don’t see how the Nets are going to keep pace offensively, unless former MVP F Kevin Durant goes for 50.

Even then, I think the Wizards come out on top at home as they simply have more firepower. At -150, I would still prefer to play the spread.

Against the spread

BET WIZARDS -3.5 (-105).

Irving is out, and replacing that production is not going to be easy. Besides Durant and Irving, no player on the Nets team is averaging over 12 points.

The Wizards have a diverse set of scorers and have far more firepower offensively. The Nets also have the worst defensive rating in the NBA and have a -6.7 net rating while the Wizards sit 16th in net rating at -0.8.

The Nets rank in the bottom half of the league in turnover rate and offensive rebounding rate. This could get ugly for Brooklyn.

It is a league-worst 1-7 ATS and is 1 of 4 teams that have yet to cover on the road. Back Washington to get the job done at home and win by more than a triple.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 224.5 (-110).

Both teams are 4-4 O/U this season, and for a Nets team without Irving, they’re going to have to make me a believer. He was a huge part of this team’s offensive success.

Instantly replacing 24% of your production is not easy, and while G Joe Harris could do it, I would rather back F Royce O’Neal and company being able to limit what F Kyle Kuzma and Beal do.

Both teams also rank in the bottom 10 in pace, so expect a slow game on Friday evening.

Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (29-25) head to the nation’s capital to play the Washington Wizards (24-29) Thursday. Tip-off at Capital One Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nets at Wizards odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Washington is 1-8 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) over its past nine games including back-to-back losses to the Suns (95-80 Saturday) and the Heat (121-100 Monday).

Brooklyn has lost nine consecutive games (1-7-1 ATS). Each of the last three losses were by 20 points or more (Jazz 125-102 Friday, Nuggets 124-104 Sunday and the Celtics 126-91 Tuesday).

The Nets are 2-0 SU and ATS in their first two meetings with the Wizards this season and the total is 1-1 Over/Under (O/U).

Nets at Wizards odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Wizards 120, Nets 105

Money line

LEAN to the WIZARDS (-145) only because I’m confident enough in them to lay the points but wouldn’t mind a bet on their money line (ML).

Both teams have been playing awful lately. In fact, the only team with a worse net rating than the Wizards over the past nine games has been the Nets.

But Washington’s losses are more excusable since it has less top-tier talent and the Wizards have played a murderer’s row of opponents recently.

Here are Washington’s past five opponents with their net ratings in parentheses: Miami (tied fourth), Phoenix (tied first), Philly (tied ninth), Milwaukee (tied fourth) and Memphis (third).

Furthermore, I give the Wizards a massive motivation edge. Washington PG Spencer Dinwiddie was a former Net who was traded to the Wizards so Brooklyn could avoid paying more luxury tax.

Dinwiddie should be excited to kick the Nets while they are down.

Also, Washington needs this game more than Brooklyn. The Wizards are 1.5 games back of the Hawks for the 10th, the final play-in seed in a competitive East.

The bottom line is this Nets thing stinks and the Wizards are playing the only team performing worse than them at home.

Against the spread

BET WIZARDS -2.5 (-115) for 1.25 units unless you take Washington’s ML.

The ATS trends for both teams are ugly but they are far worse for the Nets. During its 9-game losing streak, Brooklyn has the worst ATS margin in the NBA (minus-9.1), according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Plus, Nets PG Kyrie Irving isn’t a player that can be the leader of a winning team. When he is on the floor without Harden or KD this season, Brooklyn is outscored by 3.3 points per 100 possessions and has the worst rebounding rate in the Association.

GIMME the WIZARDS -2.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Slight “lean” to the OVER 217.5 (-115) for a tiny wager, if at all, because I much prefer the Washington side.

However, Brooklyn can’t play any defense and has the worst defensive-rebounding rate over the last nine games. Washington SF Kyle Kuzma and C Montrezl Harrel crash the glass and can get easy second-chance points in this matchup.

Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Brooklyn Nets (27-16) visit Capital One Arena Wednesday to take on the Washington Wizards (23-21). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nets vs. Wizards odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Nets are having to live life without MVP candidate PF Kevin Durant, and they’ve struggled to do so, going just 3-3 over their last 6 games. The Nets are coming off Monday’s 114-107 road loss to the Cavaliers.

So far this season, the Nets are 17-26 against the spread (ATS). The Wizards haven’t been much better at 19-24-1 ATS.

Washington, despite having a plus-.500 record, rank 22nd in net rating with the 21st-ranked defense. The Wizards are just 6-7 as home favorites this season. Brooklyn is 3-2 as road underdogs.

Nets at Wizards odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nets 115, Wizards 111

Money line

BET the NETS (-103).

The Nets are going to struggle without Durant as an option, but they still have PG Kyrie Irving to help supplement K.D.’s production.

The one weakness Brooklyn has is with turnovers. It ranks 17th in turnover rate. The Wizards forced the third-fewest turnovers. Their defense just isn’t aggressive and that won’t bode well against SG James Harden and company.

The Nets have both a better-ranked offense and defense.

Despite being short-handed, they still have two legit stars take the court. With SF Bruce Brown as a competent defender to potentially limit star Wizards SG Bradley Beal, I expect the Nets to come out on top in this one.

Against the spread

PASS.

Given I like the Nets with Irving active, I’d prefer the money line odds.

The Nets haven’t lost by a single point all season, so it doesn’t make much sense to back them and also go with the spread here.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 234.5 (-112).

This is just too many points, especially with Brooklyn down its top scorer. Washington doesn’t play at a particularly fast pace.

The Nets rank 6th in fast-break points per game while the Wizards allow the fewest. This should be a slow-paced game as the two teams rank 9th and 20th in pace.

Brooklyn is 20-23 O/U, and Washington is 23-20-1 O/U this season. Given the pace this game should be played and transition defense for the Wizards, I expect fewer than 235 points to be scored.

Nets at Wizards: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Nets 131, Wizards 115

Money line (ML)

This game seems like a lock for the Nets, considering Brooklyn is No. 2 in the Eastern Conference and Washington has the worst record in the entire NBA; however, one of Washington’s three wins this season was over Brooklyn Jan. 3.

That said, the Wizards have lost four in a row and the Nets have won four straight. Even potentially without Harden, the Nets should roll, especially if they remember the earlier loss. Take the NETS (-350).

Against the spread (ATS)

Neither team has been a consistent bet to cover the spread. Brooklyn is only 9-12 ATS and Washington is 6-9 ATS.

Washington’s record against the spread is much better than its actual record but the Wizards did not cover the spread in any of their four loss in their current losing skid. The Nets should not have much problem in a blowout win. Take the NETS -7.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Nets are the highest-scoring team in the NBA, averaging 121.0 points per game. They also have the second-highest Over percentage in the league at 71.4%. Washington’s games have gone Over 60% of the time as well and the Wizards average 114.7 points per game themselves.

Both teams like to score and Washington allows the most points in the league at 120.1 per game. Take OVER 244.5 (-110).
