A day after the team’s disapointing 23-15 loss to the Washington Football Team, the San Francisco 49ers have waived defensive lineman Alex Barrett and defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun.
Barrett played four defensive snaps on Sunday and registered one of the team’s few quarterback hits. On the season, he has appeared in five games, primarily on special teams and has recorded three tackles. He has spent the majority of the last year on the 49ers practice squad. Prior to this season, his only regular season experience came in a pair of games with the Detroit Lions in 2017.
Boddy-Calahan made his first appearance for the 49ers on Sunday, playing on 16 special teams snaps. Over his career, he has played in 47 games combined with the 49ers, Browns, Colts, and Texans recording 151 tackles, three sacks, and three interceptions.
Both will likely return to the 49ers practice squad after they clear waivers.
