Lionel Messi signing in MLS is the kind of news that transcends sports. When an all-time great comes stateside, you’ll get outlets opining on the move that aren’t usually big into soccer, or sports in general.
Like, for example, Fox News.
And as you may expect, the network had just about the Fox Newsiest take on this story imaginable.
Analyzing the move, “Fox and Friends” host Brian Kilmeade implored the Argentine star to follow in the footsteps of Inter Miami owner David Beckham, who, in a show of great respect for his new country, took the time to learn English when he joined the LA Galaxy in 2007.
“The only thing I worry about, he [Messi] doesn’t speak English, and I want to see him sit down and talk,” Kilmeade said. “One thing about David Beckham, he learned to speak English for us, with an accent, when he came at 32 years old.”

Kilmeade, for his part, would later claim he was joking.
