AEW Collision results 12/16/23: Eddie Kingston, Claudio Castagnoli stay alive

Also on AEW Collision, Thunder Rosa made her return to form a surprising alliance.

We’re getting down to the nitty gritty in the Continental Classic tonight on AEW Collision. For the Blue League, especially, several competitors are in must-win situations, particularly Eddie Kingston.

Maybe he wouldn’t be under so much pressure if he wouldn’t have put both of his titles up for grabs in this tournament, but he did and there’s no going back now. To get them back and become the first ever AEW Continental Champion too, he’s got to go on and win it all.

Kingston made that more difficult for himself by losing his first two round robin matches, but a victory over his archrival Claudio Castagnoli kept him alive. Kingston will need to win against Brody King tonight to still have a chance, and as luck would have it, Castagnoli is in the very same boat against group leader Andrade El Idolo.

All of which is to say that this is an important night in the Continental Classic, and there’s also a title defense by Orange Cassidy, always a good time. Let’s do this.

AEW Collision Winter is Coming results from Garland, Texas:

  • Claudio Castagnoli def. Andrade El Idolo by pinfall in a Continental Classic Blue League match, utilizing a low blow while the ref is distracted to set up the finish, and Claudio stays alive to advance from the Blue League
  • A highlight/promo video combo takes us back through the Continental Classic Gold
  • Abadon def. Jazmin Allure by pinfall in a quick squash match, but …
  • After the match, Julia Hart appears to taunt Abadon with the TBS Championship again, and when Abadon decides to just attack Hart, Skye Blue comes to the ring and helps Hart; in turn, Abadon gets some unexpected assistance from a returning Thunder Rosa, and Abadon shakes Rosa’s hand after they clear the ring
  • Renee Paquette gets a word with The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass, who are pretty mad about getting attacked by the Devil and his goons a few weeks ago; Top Flight and Action Andretti stop by to issue a title challenge, and since the champs are in a fighting week, they accept for next week
  • Orange Cassidy def. Bryan Keith by pinfall to retain the AEW International Champion
  • Miro says he’s done avoiding people to please his wife and is ready to kill everyone
  • Roderick Strong says he thinks he’s found his next “victim” in Komander
  • FTR dares the House of Black to come out and face them, accusing the House of jealousy of their extended run of tag team success; Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews appear on the big screen to repeat the claim that no one in the back will save them and only the House loves Cash Wheeler, and they punctuate their point by burning a picture of Dax Harwood, his wife and his daughter
  • A hype video promotes the recent run of Keith Lee, including his assertion that Shane Taylor was not “him”
  • Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale def. Diamante and Mercedes Martinez in a wild Texas Street Fight that is the wildest AEW women’s division match in some time
  • Paquette talks to “Timeless” Toni Storm and Mariah May, with the latter ending up disappointed that the former says she’s too busy to watch her debut match
  • Brian Cage def. Kari Wright by pinfall in a quick squash match
  • Cage and the Mogul Embassy (sans Swerve Strickland) are in a celebratory mood, but Keith Lee tells them they they can tell “him” that his patience is running out; hmm …
  • Eddie Kingston def. Daniel Garcia by pinfall in a Continental Classic Blue League match
  • Bryan Danielson def. Brody King by pinfall in a Continental Classic Blue League match

AEW Collision results 11/17/23: Final pieces fall in place for Full Gear

A special Friday episode of AEW Collision finalized some more stipulations and matches for Full Gear.

Saturday night may be alright for fighting, but when Full Gear takes up that night, AEW Collision has to try to prove that Friday is fine for fighting as well. It’s actually going to be a very full Friday, with Collision followed by Rampage and then an ROH taping.

But we care about Collision for now, where there will be several matches with potential Full Gear repercussions and another where someone will earn a TNT Championship shot … for later tonight on Rampage. We told you, there’s a lot of wrestling coming up.

With that in mind, let’s not waste any more time, we’re diving in.

AEW Collision results from Inglewood:

  • Tony Schiavone reluctantly holds the mic for Christian Cage, who claims Full Gear will be Sting’s last match ever and says he’s going to break Adam Copeland’s neck
  • Big Bill and Ricky Starks tell Lexy Nair that they’ve asked for and been granted the request to make the four-way tag team title match at Full Gear a Ladder match
  • Miro def. Daniel Garcia by submission, with Daddy Magic taking an accidental bump from Garcia after trying to stop Daniel from dancing during the match
  • Andrade El Idolo is happy to have CJ Perry as a manager, and they reveal that he’s entered into the Continental Classic
  • Kings of the Black Throne (Brody King and Malakai Black) def. The Boys by pinfall
  • A vignette promotes the three-way TBS Championship match at Full Gear
  • Trent Beretta def. Brian Cage. Komander and Penta El Zero Miedo to win a TNT Championship shot at Christian Cage later tonight on Rampage
  • Don Callis and Powerhouse Hobbs talk up what Hobbs did to Paul Wight and say that proves “anyone can get it”
  • Wardlow def. Evan Daniels by referee stoppage in a matter of about a minute
  • Dax Harwood vs. Rush ends in no contest as Starks and Big Bill attack both men during the match, eventually leading to all four teams from the Full Gear title match plus some others getting involved in a huge brawl that takes the efforts of many to break up
  • Nair talks to Action Andretti, who ends up the next “victim” for Roderick Strong
  • Buddy Matthews def. Wheeler Yuta by pinfall, but Claudio Castagnoli prevents Matthews from beating Yuta more after the bell and challenges Buddy to a match at Full Gear
  • Jon Moxley and Orange Cassidy offer their final thoughts before they collide again on Saturday night
  • Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida def. Ruby Soho and Saraya by pinfall, thanks in part to Angelo Parker checking on Soho during the match and taking Saraya off her game
  • MJF sits down with Schiavone to discuss his two title matches at Full Gear, and he explains that he will retain the ROH Tag Team Championship because of the promise he made to Adam Cole while also promising to teach Jay White a lesson

AEW Dynamite results 11/15/23: Omega finds some redemption, MJF has nowhere to turn

The Street Fight was wildly entertaining, but Bullet Club Gold left no doubt MJF is in its crosshairs on AEW Dynamite.

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”https://cdn5.anyclip.com/28fdyIsB-iGXscXYUBUF/1699882083309_248x140_thumbnail.jpg” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIGRhdGEtcGxpZD0iZ2k0Z216ZHpqZnp1ZWxsamk1bWhneTJ5bGZrdWV2a2ciIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzMCI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

If you can’t settle things in the ring, just take it to the streets like the Doobie Brothers once sang. If that very old reference is over your head, we promise that everything will become clear tonight on AEW Dynamite from Ontario, Calif.

The big match being promoted for this show is the Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Street Fight, and yes, that is its full name thanks to some sponsorship love from Sega. On one side is The Don Callis Family, with Brian Cage filling in for the still injured Sammy Guevara.

On the other side are The Golden Jets, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. But to round out their four-man team, they each called a friend: Omega sent the Omega-Signal up for Kota Ibushi, while Jericho summoned former tag team partner Paul Wight.

Wight amusingly said he’s not even sure what the match will entail, so that can only mean fun. Sure, there’s other interesting stuff on tonight’s card as well, including The Young Bucks taking on Penta and Komander, as well as Red Velvet going up against Skye Blue in a TBS Championship eliminator.

But at the end of the day, we’re suckers for a good Street Fight. And this one should indeed be good.

Plus we’ll see if the Devil shows up to make MJF’s life miserable again, and perhaps the announce team will discuss this tidbit from Tony Khan:

AEW Dynamite results from Ontario (not that one):

(please scroll down for full details on any match or segment in bold)

  • The show begins with a look at the Devil and “masked assailants” taking out The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn, followed by Samoa Joe mocking MJF for running out of friends
  • Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta def. Hook and Orange Cassidy by pinfall
  • After the match, Mox gets on the mic and says Cassidy is and has always been nothing, and that he’ll grind Orange into dust and win his International Championship at Full Gear
  • Swerve Strickland gets a severe verbal roasting from Hangman Adam Page, and can do nothing as Page attacks Prince Nana
  • Roderick Strong claims he knows who the Devil is and calls Adam Cole to tell him … it’s MJF; Cole suggests maybe it’s Strong and hangs up
  • Skye Blue def. Red Velvet by pinfall, earning a spot in the three-way TBS Championship match at Full Gear
  • Miro says what he predicted is coming true, and that his wife CJ Perry wants gold and fame and those trappings … but it will be Daniel Garcia who pays the price on Collision
  • Mariah May is overjoyed at the opportunity to meet Toni Storm, who seems put off by the meeting and asks Luther to contact “head of the studio” Khan to secure a tune-up match
  • Samoa Joe def. Jon Cruz by submission in a quick squash match
  • Joe then asks for a mic to extend his offer of friendship to MJF, but he also warns that the offer is time limited
  • The reveal of the AEW Continental Classic from the most recent episode of Collision is replayed, along with Bryan Danielson confirming he’s going to be in it
  • Young Bucks def. Komander and Penta El Zero Miedo by pinfall, taking some shortcuts to do so
  • The victorious Bucks run into Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega during a backstage interview, and it turns contentious in a hurry
  • The Gunns def. … uh, someone in a matter of seconds with a 3:10 to Yuma; afterward, they taunt MJF about what they’ll do to him since he has no friends left and will have to fight them alone
  • A hype video for Wardlow is shown, with him delivering a vow to “make the Devil my bitch” before the person in the Devil mask appears briefly at the end
  • The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega), Kota Ibushi and Paul Wight def. The Don Callis Family (Powerhouse Hobbs, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Brian Cage) by pinfall in a Like a Dragon Gaiden Street Fight
  • MJF is a marked man and Bullet Club Gold proves it

AEW Dynamite preview 11/15/23: Street Fight a highlight ahead of Full Gear

AEW Dynamite will also bring clarity to the contenders for the TBS Championship and AEW World Tag Team Championship.

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”https://cdn5.anyclip.com/YszdyIsBNO8Ip7-h3TBg/1699882116458_248x140_thumbnail.jpg” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIGRhdGEtcGxpZD0ibGZ6eHV6ZHpqZnp1ZXRzcGhiZXhhbnpubmF6dmlxdGgiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzMCI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Big pay-per-view cards are generally where the most deep-seated feuds get settled in pro wrestling, and Full Gear is definitely one of AEW’s most high profile events of any calendar year. But what happens when you simply can’t wait until then? That’s what we’ll find out tonight on AEW Dynamite in Ontario, Calif.

Who will win the Street Fight with the longest name in wrestling history?

Think we’re joking? Thanks to some sponsorship love, the technical name of this match is the Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Street Fight. And if you think it doesn’t need that many words, please consider that there’s a formal request to change the video game’s Wikipedia page so that it includes everything after the colon.

Jokes aside, this should not be for the weak of heart as Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho try to strike back against The Don Callis Family with the help of two of their friends, Kota Ibushi and Paul Wight. Callis’ side needed some reinforcements too since Sammy Guevara is still out of action, but it found a great replacement in Brian Cage.

It’s hard to imagine this won’t be memorable.

Will the Young Bucks focus if they turn heel?

It wasn’t that long ago that fans were (rightfully) questioning whether the Young Bucks winning a tag team title shot meant anything since AEW immediately seemed to forget about it. But it’s been brought back to the forefront as the Bucks will defend that opportunity tonight against the kinda-Lucha Bros., with Komander subbing for the injured Rey Fenix.

Because of the change, it feels unlikely that the Bucks will lose their chance to compete for the championship. They’ve also been acting a lot more heel-like lately, which begs the question of whether they will get back to what they’ve done best if they complete the turn. This Dynamite match may hint toward an answer.

Will MJF learn the Devil’s true identity tonight?

One of AEW’s most prominent running subplots involves the person in the Deivl mask who’s been making life difficult for anyone in the orbit of AEW World Champion MJF. Since Maxwell is scheduled to speak on Dynamite, it stands to reason that the Devil may make its latest appearance.

But will they reveal themselves? That’s the real drama any time the champ shows up now before Full Gear.

Also slated for tonight’s Dynamite:

  • Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta battle Orange Cassidy and Hook
  • Red Velvet takes on Skye Blue in a TBS Championship title eliminator

We’re ready for this one and will be tuned in to TBS at 8 p.m. ET tonight. Join us back here at Wrestling Junkie for live results and updates at that time.

AEW Dynamite results 11/1/23: TK disappoints, Full Gear bulks up, MJF relents

Lots more got settled for Full Gear on AEW Dynamite, which ended with scissoring.

“Another one.”

That’s one of DJ Khaled’s trademark catchphrases, but it could just as easily apply to Tony Khan and his love of “important” announcements. It’s happened frequently enough that he takes some ribbing for it among pro wrestling fans, even though his track record of delivering on them is actually pretty good.

The intrigue about tonight’s announcement, though, is that unlike some of them in the past, no one seems to know what this one is about. That alone should mean that it’s worth tuning in to AEW Dynamite from Louisville.

Fortunately, there’s plenty of in-ring action to look forward to as well. Hikaru Shida will defend her AEW World Championship against Willow Nightingale in what should be a spirited yet respectful encounter. Hangman Adam Page and the Young Bucks will put their Ring of Honor six-man titles (which we honestly forget sometimes that they have) up against Brian Cage and Gates of Agony too.

Oh, and Orange Cassidy will see if his second run as AEW International Champion will end much sooner than his first, as he defends against Claudio Castagnoli. And the odd couple pairing of Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega will team again to face Daddy Magic and Cool Hand Ang, who are potentially auditioning to be part of the Don Callis Family.

Topping it all off, we’ll hear from birthday boy Adam Copeland. But in the end, for some people it’s still going to come down to that announcement. Such is life.

But hey, we’re excited for every part of this episode of Dynamite, and we hope you are too. Let’s see what this night holds.

AEW Dynamite results from Louisville:

(please scroll down for full details on any match or segment in bold)

  • MJF doesn’t have an answer for Renee Paquette on who his three partners will be for tonight, but at least he gets advice from Adam Cole via video chat, and he thinks the champ should consider Samoa Joe’s offer; Roderick Strong and The Kingdom roll in when MJF leaves, accusing MJF of being The Devil, who then shows up on the screen
  • Orange Cassidy def. Claudio Castagnoli by pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship, but …
  • … after the match, Jon Moxley makes his way through the crowd to the ring, and he greets a rushing Cassidy with a beatdown until Castagnoli finally tells his teammate it’s enough
  • MJF knocks on Kenny Omega’s dressing room door, but Chris Jericho just laughs when asked if Kenny is there; even worse, MJF runs into Wardlow, who shoves him against a wall and says he’ll take everything from Max when he least expects it, and in anger, the champ ignores another offer from The Acclaimed to team with him
  • An angry Moxley says he showed Cassidy respect when he didn’t have to, and though he says maybe it isn’t even about him, he plans on beating Orange within an inch of his life at Full Gear just because he can
  • Brian Cage and Gates of Agony def. Hangman Adam Page and Young Bucks by pinfall to become the new ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions after Swerve Strickland taunts Page about invading his home, leading to a backstage brawl that leaves his teammates a man down
  • MJF passes up on Samoa Joe’s dressing room and writes “emo bitch” on Darby Allin’s sign before ignoring The Acclaimed once again
  • Adam Copeland is convinced to team with Sting and Darby Allin after an attack by Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne
  • Tony Khan makes his “huge announcement”: You can sign up now to get a ticket pre-sale opportunity for All In London 2024; seriously, that was it
  • Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega def. Angelo Parker and Matt Menard by pinfall, then accept Don Callis’ challenge to a Street Fight in two weeks on Dynamite, where they will be joined by Kota Ibushi … and Paul Wight
  • Paquette catches up with Omega and Jericho, but the Young Bucks have an issue with The Ocho being there and warn Kenny that Chris will stab him in the back
  • Hikaru Shida def. Willow Nightingale by pinfall to retain the AEW Women’s World Championship match, but …
  • … Shida has to take car of Toni Storm, and Nightingale turns to find Julia Hart stalking her; Skye Blue runs down and teases helping Hart, then turns and sprays Julia in the eyes with her own blue mist
  • The Acclaimed makes one last pitch to MJF, who says he has one more group on his list … but it’s Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal and Satnam Singh, ugh
  • Strong calls Cole on speakerphone, who finally tells him to shut the hell up
  • Bullet Club Gold def. MJF, The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass by pinfall, and Max Caster takes a belt shot intended for MJF …
  • … so MJF relents and scissors with his partners to end the show

AEW Dynamite results 09/27/23: Switchblade guns for MJF, Swerve and Hangman are fired up

Adam Cole also delivered some bad injury news on AEW Dynamite from Broomfield.

The card for AEW WrestleDream this Sunday seems pretty much set since there are already nine confirmed matches. But that doesn’t mean tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite from the greater Denver area couldn’t still shake up things for Seattle somehow.

It’s not 100% clear how just by looking at what’s been promoted for tonight’s show, to be fair. Willow Nightingale will take on Julia Hart in what should be a great pairing of two of AEW’s rising stars, but Hart already has a title shot this weekend against Kris Statlander.

The same is true of the four-way battle between Orange Cassidy, Penta, Matt Jackson and Austin Gunn. Will it be fun? Almost certainly. But those peeps are already half each of four teams who will be competing for a future tag team title shot in Seattle.

Hangman Adam Page and Swerve Strickland will sign on the dotted line before they tear into each other at WrestleDream, so perhaps there will be a wrinkle added there. A last minute stipulation of some sort can’t be ruled out.

There’s also the unfortunate matter of a potential injury to Adam Cole. Tony Khan said that his status would be addressed on Dynamite, and since he and his Better Than You Bay Bay partner MJF are scheduled to speak, hopefully it won’t be to tell us that Cole can’t go come Sunday.

Certainly, Khan’s cryptic comments about the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, which he has chosen to keep enigmatic, have raised some eyebrows. Could there be some hints toward what might be coming on Dynamite?

There’s only one way to find out. Well, two ways, really. Let’s get into this show and see what’s what.

AEW Dynamite results from Broomfield:

(please scroll down for full details on any match or segment in bold)

  • Rey Fenix def. Jeff Jarrett by pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship
  • A video shows MJF trying to cheer up Adam Cole by hanging out together on a boat (his dad’s, apparently) off Long Island, but Max is disappointed that Adam was on the phone with Roderick Strong so long and teases hitting him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring and tossing him overboard … but Cole sees that coming (though MJF denies it) and explains it’s OK to have more than one friend, and they end up drinking beers with Captain Insano after catching him with a fishing rod
  • Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita are shown in Tokyo looking for Kenny Omega’s secrets or something, but that was apparently before tonight as they’re up next
  • Renee Paquette talks to The Don Callis Family, who revel in adding Sammy Guevara to their ranks and apparently have already attacked Kota Ibushi in Japan
  • After the Death Match with Bryan Danielson, Ricky Starks brags that he survived, but Wheeler Yuta drops by to call him an entitled prick and says if he disagrees, they can find out in Seattle … and the match has already been added to WrestleDream
  • Nick Jackson def. Brian Cage and Claudio Castagnoli, earning himself a shot at Fenix next week
  • The Righteous deliver a message to Adam Cole and MJF about fake friends ahead of their title match at WrestleDream
  • Adam Cole has bad injury news, and to make matters worse for MJF, Jay White has the Triple B in his sights
  • Jim Ross has a sitdown interview with Christian Cage and Darby Allin, who argue about the tutelage of Nick Wayne and their upcoming TNT Championship match at WrestleDream
  • Orange Cassidy def. Penta El Zero Miedo, Matt Jackson and Austin Gunn
  • Julia Hart def. Willow Nightingale by pinfall, then gets out of dodge when Kris Statlander hustles to aid Willow after the bell
  • Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page sign on the dotted line, but not without some verbal barbs and a touch of violence
  • Backstage, Jay White is getting beaten up by men in all black and devil masks …

AEW Dynamite results 09/13/23: Samoa Joe chokes out Roderick Strong … and Adam Cole

Check out AEW Dynamite results from Cincy, including more matches set for both Grand Slam and WrestleDream.

Though we’ve passed the “All” shows that were just a week apart (All In and All Out), the pace of AEW events isn’t slowing down just yet. The brand spanking new WrestleDream is looming on the first weekend of October, and oh yeah, Grand Slam is coming up at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens in …

(Checks calendar)

One week? Wait, what?

OK then, we’ve obviously got some important business to attend to tonight on AEW Dynamite in Cincinnati, and by that, we mean finding out who’s going to be challenging for the AEW World Championship (held by MJF) and AEW Women’s World Championship (currently around the waist of Saraya). We’re doing that in the most time-honored way possible tonight: in the ring.

On the men’s side, the final match in a tournament will be a very intriguing encounter between Samoa Joe and Roderick Strong. Both have their own reasons for wanting the Triple B other than just wanting to win gold, and we can’t wait to see which direction AEW decides to go.

The women’s challenger will be decided in a four-way bout that includes former champs Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker and Nyla Rose. Two-time champ Toni Storm is in the hunt as well, and would arguably be the juiciest winner of all since she is teammates with Saraya. Or was? We’re not 100% clear on that, nor are The Outcasts, nor, quite possibly, is Storm herself.

Want even more? Cool, because there’s a Jon Moxley title defense in his hometown, the third meeting in a trilogy between Hangman Adam Page and Brian Cage, and an appearance by Le Sex Gods. Sounds like plenty of good stuff to us.

AEW Dynamite results from Cincinnati:

(please scroll down for more details on any match or segment in bold)

  • Jon Moxley def. Big Bill by submission to retain the AEW International Championship, in a match that sees Ricky Starks, Bryan Danielson, and eventually, Claudio Castagnoli get involved
  • Adam Cole warns Roderick Strong that this match against Samoa Joe is a bad idea, but Roddy says he’s going to win because he’s a wrestling legend

  • Tony Schiavone (very grudgingly) brings Don Callis and Konosuke Takeshita to the ring for an unveiling of a painting … and a new target
  • The BCC (including a still very bloody Moxley) wants a tag team match with Big Bill and Ricky Starks at Collision; the Lucha Bros. also arrive and cause a ruckus while Eddie Kingston warns Castagnoli “one more week”
  • Renee Paquette tries to talk to Hook, who ends up getting a show of respect from Orange Cassidy, who admits he’s “still so tired”
  • Toni Storm def. Hikaru Shida, Nyla Rose and Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. to earn a championship shot at Saraya at Grand Slam, speaking of which …
  • … Saraya tells Paquette she’s proud, maybe, of Storm, but Toni has lost her mind and will lose to her in New York as well
  • Le Sex Gods promise to give their all against each other at Grand Slam
  • We flash back to last week, where MJF is told he isn’t cleared for tonight but will be back for Grand Slam; he sounds off on both Roderick Strong and Samoa Joe, doing his own version of Scott Steiner’s infamous match promo in the process, to hilarious effect
  • Hangman Adam Page def. Brian Cage by pinfall, then jaws with Swerve Strickland to set up a match at WrestleDream, needing a save from the Young Bucks
  • Daniel Garcia wants to talk about himself with Paquette, and Callis wants to hear more but gets only Garcia’s dance in return

  • A video package replays Jade Cargill’s return and promotes her rematch with Kris Statlander later this week
  • Darby Allin and Nick Wayne def. Angelo Parker and Matt Menard by pinfall, then get challenged to a tag match at Grand Slam by Christian Cage and Luchasaurus
  • Samoa Joe def. Roderick Strong by submission in a Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament final
  • Joe calls out MJF after his victory, promising to take everything from the champion next week
  • Cole runs out to check on Strong, who is selling his injured neck like crazy and looks like he’s going to be carried out on a backboard; while Cole is arguing with The Kingdom, Samoa Joe returns and chokes him out

AEW Dynamite preview 09/13/23: Who will face MJF at Grand Slam?

Of course, Jon Moxley is in action on AEW Dynamite from Cincinnati as well.

MJF is going to have to defend his AEW World Championship a week from now at Grand Slam, and for once, he doesn’t even seem that upset about it since the show is in New York. But he doesn’t know who his opponent will be, and one of the key parts of tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite from Cincinnati will be finding out who that challenger is.

A tournament to determine the Grand Slam challenger has made it to the final, and both men left standing have reasons for wanting to face MJF beyond just winning the Triple B. Samoa Joe started something with the champ at All Out and has only escalated things since then. Not many people know how to prove a point like he does.

As for Roderick Strong, his quest is a bit more personal. Feeling abandoned by his good friend Adam Cole, Strong would like nothing more than to stick it to Cole by winning the title Adam failed to claim at All In.

(Also, neck health awareness!)

Of course, that’s far from the only thing on tap for tonight. Cincy’s favorite son, Jon Moxley, will defend his International Championship against Big Bill. A four-way battle will pick a challenger for Saraya and the AEW Women’s World Championship at Grand Slam, and one of the contestants is the now delightfully off her rocker Toni Storm, so watch for the shoe.

Plus we’ll see Hangman Adam Page, who had his manhood and desire questioned last week by Swerve Strickland, go up against Brian Cage. We’ll hear from Le Sex Gods, and Don Callis will unveil his latest “masterpiece,” which we can safely assume to be another painting in questionable taste.

You know what that means: that you need to either tune in to TBS at 8 p.m. ET tonight, or join us back here at Wrestling Junkie for live updates.

AEW Dynamite results 09/06/23: Darby, Roderick advance, Swerve guns for Hangman

Two tourney quarterfinals were the big draws of AEW Dynamite from Indianapolis, but some intriguing new feuds began too.

Even though AEW is coming off two consecutive pay-per-view weekends, this is hardly the time to slow down. Not when Dynamite is coming to us tonight from the home of speed for decades, Indianapolis.

One of the big things to keep an eye on tonight is the start of the tournament that decides who will face MJF for the AEW World Championship (or as he calls it, the Triple B) at Dynamite Grand Slam. Two of the quarterfinal matches will take place tonight, while the others will be on Rampage ahead of the semifinals on Collision.

Plus, Jon Moxley will make the first defense of the AEW International Championship he won from Orange Cassidy at All Out. Speaking of Freshly Squeezed, he’s making his way out to start tonight’s show, so let’s see what’s in store from Indy.

AEW Dynamite results from Indianapolis:

  • The fans greet Cassidy with a “thank you Orange” chant, and he says that while they told him to stay home, he will be here every week, championship or no championship. On his way out, the new champ is on his way in to make his first title defense.
  • Jon Moxley def. AR Fox by pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship as Darby Allin and Nick Wayne watch closely backstage, and Allin goes to the ring afterward to check on Fox. Meanwhile, Christian Cage and Luchasaurus bump into Wayne, and Cage insults Wayne’s dad while also trying to recruit him, as weird as that sounds.
  • Kris Statlander def. Emi Sakura by pinfall to retain the AEW TBS Championship. She’s still sporting the “Zoolander” gear too.
  • Roderick Strong talks about his tough family life growing up and how pro wrestling got him out of it. He says he grew up alone and will win this tournament alone.
  • Le Sex Gods (Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara) def. Aussie Open by pinfall despite some miscommunication that angers Guevara and leads to the two of them needing to be separated after the match. Don Callis is on guest commentary and loves the whole scene.
  • A highlight package is shown of the Ricky Starks-Bryan Danielson Strap match at All Out.
  • Callis and Konosuke Takeshita tell Renee Paquette that they’re going to have a celebration in Cincy next week and reveal Takeshita’s next target.
  • MJF says he lived in Indiana for a bit during his time on the indie circuit, and while he initially was upset about having to wrestle on Sept. 20, he perked up when he realized it was Grand Slam in New York. He also says there’s one person who might need to be taught a lesson, but before he can say who it is, Samoa Joe comes out and joins him in the ring. MJF tries his hand at some creative insults at Joe’s expense, but he keeps calling the champ “kid,” and that gets MJF fired up. He calms down and tells Joe there’s a whole tournament to determine who gets to wrestle him, then launches into the William Regal story we’ve heard before. MJF also talks about the time he got to be a security guard who got to walk Joe to the ring, except Joe shoved him into a brick wall and laughed. The point of all this is that MJF was a kid at the time but he’s not any more — he’s a generational talent who headlined the most historic PPV of all time. He even turns the “Joe’s gonna kill you” line around, but Joe is unfazed and calls the champ a bitch instead, just goading him like mad. Max slaps Joe, but while Joe says he won’t take the bait, he waits ’til MJF is leaving the ring and kicks him in the crotch. MJF gives him a low blow in return but runs right into a one-armed slam. It looks like a Muscle Buster is next, but Adam Cole rushes into the ring to save his partner … though MJF sells the damage done to his neck. On his way out, Strong and The Kingdom yell at Cole.
  • Roderick Strong def. Trent Beretta by pinfall in a Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament quarterfinal match.
  • Paquette catches up with Toni Storm, who seems to be unaware of what she did to ruin things for Ruby Soho. “Chin up, tits out and watch for the shoe!” Seriously.
  • Tony Schiavone brings Hangman Adam Page to the ring to speak about his battle royale win, but he wants to look forward instead. Before he can talk about his plans for the rest of 2023, however, Prince Nana leads Swerve Strickland out and dismisses Schiavone. Swerve says being in a coffin for two weeks gives you some clarity and perspective, and the first person he thought of when he got out was Hangman. Strickland points out that Page was a cornerstone of the company when it first started up, but he’s questioning whether Hangman lost his spot or his fire. Swerve says Page can either ride comfortably off into the sunset or he can man up and show everyone what “Cowboy S–t” is all about. If they fight, however, Strickland says he will walk Page like a dog. Hangman tries to walk off, but Swerve brings his family into it. Alas, it’s a trap, and Brian Cage attacks Page from behind and easily takes him out.
  • Darby Allin def. Nick Wayne by referee stoppage in a Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament quarterfinal match. Cage and Luchasaurus came to the announce table during the match but didn’t interfere.

AEW Rampage results 08/11/23: Orange Cassidy does it again

AEW Rampage also featured Skye Blue vs. Saraya for a spot in the 4-way women’s championship match at All In.

Eventually, Orange Cassidy is going to lose his title. It’s probably not going to be tonight on AEW Rampage, though.

See, Cassidy is undefeated in singles matches this year, and has been absolutely heroic while defending his title against a seemingly nonstop wave of challengers. Not bad for someone whose gimmick is that he’s a slacker who really doesn’t want to wrestle.

But is his downfall coming tonight, against Johnny TV? That seems highly unlikely, but that’s why we watch.

Let’s see what this week’s Rampage has for us.

AEW Rampage results:

  • Darby Allin def. Brian Cage by pinfall, but gets attacked by TNT Champion Luchasaurus after the match, with Christian Cage watching like a hawk backstage
  • Renee Paquette talks to Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. about her matchup with The Bunny, who she says she respects but will have to go through her to get to the title match at All In
  • Eddie Kingston gives an update on how he’s doing in the G1 Climax 33 in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and also says he’ll defend his title from that company anywhere
  • Orange Cassidy def. Johnny TV by pinfall to retain the AEW International Championship, with Wheeler Yuta as a very interested observer on commentary; after the match, Cassidy calls Yuta to the ring, but Wheeler says if Orange puts his title on the line next week in Nashville, he’ll walk out with it
  • A video package goes through the history of the ROH World Tag Team Championship
  • Aussie Open def. The Outrunners by pinfall; afterward they address the challenge made to them by “Maxwell and Little Adam,” and accept that match on the All In Zero Hour pre-show
  • Jeff Jarrett tells us about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Deathmatch, which … wait, what? (it’s apparently a promotion with a video game)
  • Saraya def. Skye Blue by pinfall with some help from the other Outcasts, of course, who also beat down Skye some more to end the show
