Milwaukee Brewers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Minnesota Twins sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Milwaukee Brewers (11-11) and Minnesota Twins (16-9) wrap up a three-game set Thursday at 7:10 p.m. ET at Target Field. We analyze the Brewers-Twins betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Brewers at Twins: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Brandon Woodruff vs. RHP Jose Berrios

Woodruff: 1-1, 3.16 ERA, 1.052 WHIP, 30 K, 7 BB, 25 2/3 IP through 5 starts

  • Failed to make it out of the fifth inning in each of his last two starts and hasn’t recorded a decision since his second outing of the season.
  • An excellent road pitcher with a 3.63 career ERA through 17 starts and eight relief appearances.

Berrios: 1-3, 5.92 ERA, 1.644 WHIP, 24 K, 13 BB, 24 1/3 IP through 5 starts

  • Walk rate of 4.8 batters per nine innings is more than double last year’s 2.3 mark.
  • Has completed six innings just once this season. That start was at home Aug. 4 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Prediction

Brewers 4, Twins 3

Moneyline (ML)

The Twins (-115) aren’t worth the juice with several key injuries and Berrios yet to find his form early in the delayed season. The BREWERS (+105) offer plus-money and can bank on at least a safe outing from Woodruff before turning things over to RP Josh Hader and the league’s fourth-best bullpen by ERA.

The Twins rank seventh in baseball with 3.46 ERA, but those relievers were heavily worked in Wednesday’s 9-3 loss to the Brew Crew. The Twins took two of three against the Brewers in Milwaukee a little over a week ago, but the BREWERS (+105) flip the script with a series win Thursday.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Brewers to win outright would return a profit of $10.50.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The TWINS +1.5 (-189) are underdogs on the spread as BetMGM tries to hedge in what’s projected as a tight game. The run line is a good hedge for bettors, too, in case Berrios manages to show some of his 2019 form.

The Twins took Game 1 of this series 4-3 Tuesday.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 8.5 (-110). Two of the five meetings between the two teams this year played below Thursday’s projection and Minnesota is likely to be without three key bats. Expect 5-6 innings from each starter before turning things over to strong bullpens.

Milwaukee Brewers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Minnesota Twins betting odds and lines, with NBA betting picks, tips and bets

First pitch of Game 2 in the Milwaukee Brewers (10-11) at Minnesota Twins (16-8) three-game series is set for Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. ET in Target Field. Minnesota took the opener 4-3 in 12 innings. We analyze the Brewers-Twins betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Brewers at Twins: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Brett Anderson vs. LHP Rich Hill

Anderson this season: 0-2 with a 4.91 ERA (9 K, 6 ER in 11 IP) over 3 starts.

  • Last start: Anderson pitched 4 1/3 innings with 5 K’s, 2 BBs and recorded an L in 4-2 loss at the Chicago Cubs last Thursday.
  • He is 3-3 with a 3.91 ERA (41 K, 23 ER in 53 IP) over 8 starts and 2 appearances vs the Twins.

Hill won his only start of the season against the St. Louis Cardinals on July 29. He didn’t allow a run, but only struck out two batters in 5 innings.

  • Hill has a 3-1 career record with a 3.35 ERA, 1.118 WHIP and 9.9 SO/9 vs. the Brewers.

Prediction

Brewers 5, Twins 3

Moneyline (ML)

The Twins (-162) SP Kenta Maeda carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning, striking out 12 hitters along the way, in Minnesota’s extra-innings win on Tuesday.

However, the Brewers (+145) got to him and RP Taylor Rogers, scoring 3 runs in the top of the ninth. The loss ended Milwaukee’s four-game winning streak.

Milwaukee’s lineup has been pretty bad this season — ranked 29th in runs per game, 28th in batting average and OPS — but scores a run higher and hits 45 points higher against lefties. The Brewers figure to have an easier time hitting against the lefty Hill.

Anderson has given up only 2 earned runs in all three of his 2020 starts. So if Anderson can have a similar performance and turn it over to Milwaukee’s bullpen (ranked fourth in ERA and WHIP), the BREWERS (+145) WILL WIN THIS GAME

New to sports betting? A $50 bet on the Brewers (+145) earns a $72.50 profit if Milwaukee defeats Minnesota.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS. As much as I’d like some insurance on the moneyline wager, Brewers +1.5 (-143) is too expensive for me. Stick with Milwaukee on the upset.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 9.5 (-115) looks great to me. Teams have combined for eight or fewer runs in the five of the last six games Anderson has started. Minnesota’s lineup is less explosive than in 2019: 19th in batting average and 20th in OPS. The market hasn’t adjusted to his yet because the Twins O/U record is 8-16 this year.

Milwaukee Brewers at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Minnesota Twins sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Milwaukee Brewers (10-10) and Minnesota Twins (15-8) begin a three-game interleague series at Target Field on Tuesday at 8:10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Brewers-Twins MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Brewers at Twins: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Corbin Burnes vs. RHP Kenta Maeda

Burnes will make his second start and fifth appearance of the season. He allowed one run, two hits and three walks with six strikeouts across 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision July 25 in his first start on the road against the Chicago Cubs.

  • Burnes has had some control problems, issuing 11 walks across 16 innings, but he has managed to rack up 24 strikeouts while serving up just one homer.
  • Opponents have managed a .151 batting average in 16 innings in his four appearances so far this season.

Also see: BaseballHQ Fantasy Baseball

Maeda has been tremendous for the Twins, going 3-0 with a 2.66 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 21 strikeouts across 23 2/3 innings in his first four starts for the Twins.

  • Maeda allowed just two earned runs, five hits and a walk with five strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a 12-2 win at Milwaukee last Wednesday in a victory.
  • In Wednesday’s win against the Brewers, Maeda threw 63 of his 85 pitches for strikes, including first-pitch strikes to 20 of the 26 batters he faced.

Prediction

Twins 8, Brewers 3

Moneyline (ML)

The TWINS (-167) have been cruising this season, and Maeda is a great reason why Minnesota ranks third in the majors with a 3.33 ERA and they’re fifth with a 1.13 WHIP. Minnesota also ranks first in the majors with only two errors, and that’s a great recipe for victories. The Brewers (+150) are a tempting play given that they have four consecutive wins, but with an inexperienced starter in Burnes, they’ll be no match against Maeda and the Twins.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on Minnesota returns a profit of $5.99 if they pick up the victory.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The TWINS (-1.5, +120) are a strong play against the Brewers (+1.5, -143) in this interleague series opener. While Milwaukee has four straight wins by one run, Minnesota won 12-2 behind Maeda at Miller Park last time out, and the Twins won two of three in that series with each of the games decided by two runs or more.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9 (-110) hit in each of the past two games of the set last week at Miller Park, and four of the previous five meetings between these border rivals. There is a little bit of risk considering Maeda has pitched so well this season, but the Twins offense has the potential to take care of the over all by themselves.
