San Francisco Giants at Seattle Mariners odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s San Francisco Giants at Seattle Mariners sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The San Francisco Giants (23-24) will try to put a stop to their current three-game skid when they visit the Seattle Mariners (22-26). The first game of this two-game series will start at 9:40 p.m. ET at T-Mobile Park. We analyze the Giants-Mariners betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Giants at Mariners: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Tyler Anderson vs. RHP Ljay Newsome

Anderson has made 10 appearances on the season (eight starts), posting a 4.50 ERA during that time. In his 46 innings of work, he has struck out 30 batters while walking 17.

  • He has been inconsistent, with three starts of no earned runs allowed, and four others in which he gave up four or more earned runs in five or fewer innings. He did have one of his best starts against this same Seattle team last time out, striking out four batters across six scoreless frames.
  • Anderson has struggled on the road this season, putting up a 7.59 ERA in 21 1/3 innings, along with a 16:12 K:BB.

Newsome left his last start early after he was hit on the hand by a line drive, but is fully expected to take the mound Tuesday. He has thrown a total of only 8 1/3 innings on the season, during which time he has allowed three earned runs, with a 7:0 K:BB.

  • Newsome made 28 starts across three minor league levels in 2019, posting a 3.54 ERA and 9.8 K/9.
  • His greatest strength is his outstanding control. He recorded a 1.0 BB/9 in the minors in 2019, and throughout his professional career, owns a 1.1 mark in 508 innings.

Prediction

Giants 5, Mariners 3

Money line (ML)

  • Giants (-134)
  • Mariners (+120)

Anderson has been up and down this year, but this is definitely a good spot for him. His success against Seattle last week wasn’t surprising, as the M’s have struggled against lefties all year. They currently own the 3rd lowest wRC+ and 4th highest K% vs southpaws. Look for Anderson to fare pretty well again, and for the GIANTS (-134) to come out on top.

New to sports betting? A winning $13.40 bet on the Giants would return a profit of $10.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

  • Giants -1.5 (+115)
  • Mariners +1.5 (-139)

The Giants are likely to win this game, but their offense isn’t exactly firing on all cylinders right now. They have scored more than four runs in just two of their last eight games and scored a total of just three runs in a three-game weekend series against the San Diego Padres. The recommendation here is to PASS on the run line.

Over/Under (O/U)

  • Over 9 (-110)
  • Under 9 (-110)

While it’s true that Anderson is prone to blowups, he should fare well again against this Seattle offense. On the other side, Newsome isn’t dominant but helps himself by being very stingy with the free passes, and he may be getting the Giants at the right time. We’ll give a slight edge to the UNDER 9 (-110), as neither offense is likely to have a huge day.

Atlanta Braves at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Atlanta Braves at Baltimore Orioles sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Atlanta Braves (28-20) look for revenge following Monday’s 14-1 blowout loss to the Baltimore Orioles (21-26). First pitch Tuesday is set for 7:35 p.m. ET at Camden Yards. We analyze the Braves-Orioles betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Braves at Orioles: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Huascar Ynoa vs. RHP Thomas Eshelman

Ynoa has made seven appearances (three starts) for the Braves this season. In total, he has pitched 14 2/3 innings, while posting a 6.75 ERA and more walks than strikeouts (12 to 11).

  • Ynoa put up pretty strong strikeout numbers throughout his minor league career, but had some control issues. He had an ugly 4.1 BB/9 in the minors, and has dished out far too many free passes in his young major league career.
  • Of the 33 left-handed batters Ynoa has faced, he has struck out just two of them, while walking nine (one intentional).

Eshelman has pitched out of the bullpen for most of the season, but has made three starts. In total, he has compiled a 3.96 ERA, but with just 11 strikeouts in 25 innings (4.0 K/9).

  • A .187 BABIP has played a major role in Eshelman maintaining a sub-4.00 ERA. A FIP of 6.00 shows just how fortunate he has been to this point.
  • He has a 3.86 ERA in 14 innings at home, but the skills certainly don’t support that level of performance. He has a 5:6 K:BB and has already allowed three homers in his home park.

Prediction

Braves 8, Orioles 6

Moneyline (ML)

  • Braves (-162)
  • Orioles (+145)

Neither starting pitcher is a great bet to have much success or to work very deep into the game. Both have shown weak skills, and Eshelman is faced with a particularly tough matchup, as the Braves rank third in wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Side with the stronger offense, and take the BRAVES (-162).

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Braves (-162) to win would return a profit of $6.17.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

  • Braves -1.5 (-110)
  • Orioles +1.5 (-110)

Of the last 10 games the Braves have won, eight have been by multiple runs. They should put a lot of runs on the board Tuesday, and being the road team is a slight boost to their chances of winning by more than one, in case it’s tied late in the game. Look for the offense of the BRAVES -1.5 (-110) to do enough to cover this line.

Over/Under (O/U)

  • Over 10 (-110)
  • Under 10 (-110)

The Over is 26-18 (with four pushes) in Atlanta’s games this season, and this sets up to be a high-scoring game. The Braves are likely to have a good night offensively, while Baltimore, who scored 14 runs Monday night when the Braves threw a weak starter at them, should do their part as well.

With these two pitchers on the mound, it would be very surprising to see a low-scoring game. Expect both offenses to strike early and often, which should result in the OVER 10 (-110) hitting at Camden Yards Tuesday evening.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Washington Nationals (17-26) and Atlanta Braves (26-19) continue a four-game series at Nationals Park Saturday with the third installment. First pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Braves-Nationals MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Series: The Braves took the opener 7-6 Thursday but the Nats responded with an 8-7 12-inning win Friday.

Braves at Nationals: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Ian Anderson vs. LHP Patrick Corbin

Anderson: 2-0, 3 starts, 2.40 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 10.8 K/9, 4.2 BB/9, 15 IP

  • Walks are an early issue for Anderson, but he’s able to get himself out of jams with strikeouts and has allowed just one home run through 15 innings.
  • Beat the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox in his first two MLB starts with 6 innings pitched both times, but he took the no-decision against the Miami Marlins last time out with 2 runs (one earned) allowed over just 3 innings.

Corbin: 2-4, 8 starts, 4.34 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 8.3 K/9, 3.0 BB/9, 45 2/3 IP

  • Strikeout rate is at its lowest since 2015 with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
  • Pitching much better at home with a 3.33 ERA through 4 starts and 24 1/3 innings vs. a 5.48 ERA across 4 starts and 21 1/3 innings as a road starter.

Prediction

Nationals 3, Braves 2

Moneyline (ML)

The NATIONALS (+105) walked it off Friday but remain underdogs as they’ve been in all eight head-to-head meetings so far this season.

The availability of Acuna looms large Saturday for the Braves (-115). The NL East’s top-seeded team is likely to play it safe with the star outfielder – even with X-rays returning negative Friday night after he left the game after fouling a ball off his foot

Anderson has been excellent through his first three MLB starts, but Corbin continues to pitch extremely well at home. Take the plus-money value of the underdogs with the season series tied 4-4.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Play it safe and grab the NATIONALS +1.5 (-162) with one run of insurance in the event of a loss. Washington has covered in six of the eight head-to-head meetings this season and is 12-8 as the underdog on the year.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Nationals to lose by a single run or win outright returns a profit of $6.17.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 8.5 (-110) in a strong pitching matchup. Anderson has already topped quality New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox lineups while pitching deep into both games, and Corbin (3.33 ERA) is excellent in his home park.

The season series is 7-0-1 against the Over/Under but look for Anderson and Corbin to buck that trend.

Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Atlanta Braves (26-18) look for a third straight win when they take on the Washington Nationals (16-26) Friday. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. ET at Nationals Park. We analyze the Braves-Nationals betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Braves at Nationals: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Josh Tomlin vs. RHP Erick Fedde

Tomlin’s first eight appearances this season were out of the bullpen, but this will be his fifth straight outing in a starting role. Overall, he owns a 3.77 ERA and career-high 8.2 K/9.

  • The sample is small, but in his four starts, Tomlin has surrendered 10 earned runs and four homers in 17 1/3 innings, along with just 10 strikeouts (5 2/3 K/9).
  • His two best starts to this point have come against this same Washington team. In those two outings, he pitched a total of 10 innings, while allowing three earned runs and punching out four batters.

Fedde has been absolutely brutal this season. In his 32 1/3 innings of work, he has compiled a 5.29 ERA, while striking out just 12 batters and dishing out 15 free passes.

  • His most recent start was also against the Braves, and he allowed four earned runs (and three homers) in 3 2/3 innings, with a 2:4 K:BB.
  • In 26 career appearances (18 starts) at Nationals Park, Fedde has posted a 6.08 ERA, along with an awful 1.3 K:BB.

Braves at Nationals: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:20 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Braves 8, Nationals 6

Moneyline (ML)

  • Braves (-150)
  • Nationals (+135)

Fedde’s 5.29 ERA is ugly, and the skills have been even worse. He has walked more batters than he has struck out, and his 7.14 FIP is third-highest among all pitchers with at least 30 innings pitched.

The Braves, who lead the league in wRC+ vs right-handed pitching, roughed Fedde up just last week and should have similar success against him Friday night. Side with the BRAVES (-150), as their offense should continue to roll.

New to sports betting? A winning $15 bet on the Braves would return a profit of $10.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

  • Braves -1.5 (-106)
  • Nationals +1.5 (-115)

Both starting pitchers are likely to have a tough time today, but the Braves bring the stronger offense into the game, as they lead the league in runs per game. They also have the edge in the bullpen, as the ERA of the Atlanta relievers is 3.31 (fourth-lowest in the league) compared to Washington’s 4.54 mark. Look for the BRAVES -1.5 (-106) to win by multiple runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

  • Over 10.5 (-110)
  • Under 10.5 (-110)

These teams have met seven times this season, and just once have they combined for fewer than 13 runs, and that was a seven-inning game. With Tomlin and Fedde squaring off, there should be plenty of fireworks in this one as well.

The OVER 10.5 (-110) looks like an excellent value, so take advantage of it before the total moves up.
