Former Boston Celtics advance scout and assistant coach Brandon Bailey is joining the staff of Ohio State’s men’s basketball program under head coach Chris Holtmann per a report from the Columbus Dispatch’s Adam Jardy.
Bailey previously worked for the Detroit Pistons as an assistant and player development coach for then coach Dwane Casey.
Before that, the Chicago native spent over a decade with the Celtics organization, starting as the head coach of the then-Maine Red Claws (now Celtics) before working his way up to an assistant gig under then-coach Brad Stevens. He shifted into a scouting role during the short Ime Udoka era before joining the Pistons last season.
Bailey is expected to bring his defensive acumen to the Buckeyes as that program retools in an effort to return to national prominence under Holtmann.
