Both pitchers are making their first start against their respective opponent so there’s not much data on how these starters are going to perform. The most astounding nugget I’ve picked up is that Pivetta is not a night owl.
Pivetta has a winning record in the day but is just 11-21 at night allowing 2.5-plus more runs per nine innings and a 1.52 WHIP at night compared to 1.26 WHIP in the day.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)
Slight “LEAN” to the WHITE SOX -1.5 (+150) for a quarter unit since the payout is so juicy. Since the beginning of last season, the White Sox have a 15-8 run line record as road favorites.
Also, Chicago’s lineup hasn’t gotten out to a great start, but Pivetta’s exit velocity, hard-hit rate and flyball rate exceed the MLB average, so this could be a get-right game for the White Sox lineup.
Over/Under (O/U)
Boston is 15-6-2 O/U as a home underdog from the beginning of 2020.
Furthermore, it’s been a couple of years since we’ve seen a White Sox-Red Sox game, but a lot of the same hitters will be in this game and the Over has cashed in four of the past five meetings.
Finally, bettors have steamed this total down from 9.5 on the opener to the current price, which gives us a “fade the market” angle.
