Boston Celtics at Utah Jazz odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Boston Celtics at Utah Jazz NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Utah Jazz (19-5) host the Boston Celtics (12-10) Tuesday at Vivint Arena for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Celtics-Jazz NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

This is the final game of a five-game road trip for the Celtics who’ve been up-and-down recently. Boston is 2-2 straight up and against the spread in the first four games of this trip while being without key contributors in each of the games.

The Jazz are the hottest team in the league over the past month, winning 14 of their last 15 games and covering the spread in 13 of those 15 games. Four of Utah’s last five games were on the road and that one loss was at the Denver Nuggets Jan. 31.

These teams split last season’s series 1-1 with the road team winning each time but the Jazz are 3-1 straight up and ATS in the last four meetings.

Celtics at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Celtics 114, Jazz 109

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on Celtics since I lean Boston to cover here. As always, the final injury report right before tip-off is important and Boston’s injuries and lack of repetition this season have led to mediocre offensive production.

Against the spread (ATS)

Conley’s absence is a bigger deal than the market is accounting for in my opinion. Conley leads the Jazz in on-off court net rating and will cause the biggest issues for Utah’s defense.

There’s no one on the Jazz who can stay in front of Celtics PG Kemba Walker and Conley was the main reason why Walker had only 13 points in the one Celtics-Jazz game he played last season.

We have to go back to April 2019 for Walker’s second-to-last game vs. the Jazz, when he still played for the Charlotte Hornets. Utah’s starting lineup that night was essentially identical to the one it’ll have Tuesday and Walker went for 47 points in that game.

I lean CELTICS +5.5 (-110) for a half-unit and would up it to a full unit if Brown can play.

Over/Under (O/U)

I lean OVER 220.5 (-110) because both teams are missing their best on-ball defenders and because of the market movement. Smart being out for Boston is an issue and Utah shoots the ball too well to expect many offensive lulls.

Additionally, the market is betting the Over heavier even though four of the last five Celtics-Jazz games have gone Under the projected line and today’s total is higher than any of the previous five meetings.

I’m not in love with this play but I’d BET a half-unit on OVER 220.5 (-110).
