Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is officially a Charlottean.

As detailed by CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones on Wednesday, the first overall pick of the 2023 draft has agreed to a multi-year sponsorship deal with the local fast-food powerhouse Bojangles. The popular restaurant chain would then confirm the tasty news a few hours later on social media:

Much, of course, has been made about Young’s 200-pound frame—which isn’t exactly the most robust for the quarterback position. But with the help of the Panthers training staff—and apparently some chicken and biscuits—the rookie has put in some work this offseason.

“I’ve been able to trust the strength and conditioning staff and the training staff at the organization,” Young told Jones. “This was something that we had talked about having sustainable meals that could help me in my training and still keep me active. Luckily with how the food’s prepared and the quality of it, it’s able to fall into that category. I’m definitely excited for that.”

And hey, it was only right . . .

Bojangles is ready for new Panthers QB Baker Mayfield

Biscuits for Baker? Bojangles is ready to cook something up with new Panthers QB Baker Mayfield.

When it comes to new Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield and Bojangles, the jokes write themselves.

Southern fast food. Baker. Baking. Get it?

Well, Mayfield already gets it.

On Tuesday, the 27-year-old passer fielded questions from media for the first time as a Carolina Panther. And as a Carolina Panther—or any kind of Carolinian, for that matter—it’s a right of passage to dine at the popular Charlotte-based restaurant chain.

So when he was asked of his favorite southern cuisine, Mayfield said he’s jonesing for some of that Bojangles.

“I’m looking forward to having my first meal at Bojangles,” he replied. “I haven’t had that yet, but I’ve been told I need to do that as soon as possible. So, I’ll probably wait a little bit. It’s not exactly on the training camp diet, but I’m looking forward to it.”

Apparently, Bojangles is looking forward to it too . . .

Hopefully for the Panthers, those biscuits aren’t the only goodies Mayfield bakes up in 2022.

What did Chesson Hadley do after ‘giant dumpster fire’ finish at Palmetto Championship? He went to Bojangles.

Chicken and biscuits saved the day.

“Giant dumpster fire of a finish yesterday.”

That’s what Chesson Hadley had to say about his final-round performance Sunday at the Palmetto Championship. Looking for his first PGA Tour win since the 2014 Puerto Rico Open, the 33-year-old began the day with a four-shot lead and ended his round at Congaree Golf Club in Ridgeland, South Carolina, with three consecutive bogeys to sign for a 4-over 75 and finish T-2 at 10 over, one shot behind winner Garrick Higgo.

How did he deal with the defeat? By going to Bojangles, of course.

On Monday morning the 2014 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year took to Twitter to react to his performance, have a little fun at his own putter’s expense and shoutout a sponsor.

Hadley has represented Bojangles, a fast-food restaurant that’s popular in the Southeastern United States, since 2014 and rocks its logo on his shirt collar. One could say he got a thigh of his own supply after the round.

“On a more serious note, this week was tremendous for me. It was great to get into the mix again and feel some things I haven’t felt in a while,” Hadley replied to the original tweet. “Thank you to everyone who encouraged and supported me. I am looking forward to getting after it the rest of the year.”
