The Boise State Broncos opener their season on the road against a ranked opponent in the No. 11 Washington Huskies Saturday. Kickoff from Husky Stadium is at 3:30 p.m. (ABC). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Boise State vs. Washington odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
Boise State and coach Andy Avalos head into Seattle to take on one of the Heisman favorites in Washington QB Michael Penix Jr.
The Broncos went on a tear and finished the season on an 8-2 streak after swapping QBs midseason. One of those losses, unfortunately, came in the Mountain West championship game against Fresno State.
However, with a new season comes new hopes. QB Taylen Green — who took over last season — enters following an entire off-season of work with the first-team offense. This will allow Boise State to keep this game closer than many may predict.
Washington and Penix will look to continue the positive momentum created in the first season under coach Kalen DeBoer. The defense will look to take steps forward. With Pennix Jr. and wide receivers galore, the Huskies will look to win the first game of the season as it tries to win the Pac-12 in the final year of the conference.
Washington is No. 11 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Boise State at Washington picks and predictions
Prediction
Washington 31, Boise State 23
Moneyline
PASS.
The -650 line for Washington is not worth the juice to make a play.
Boise State will keep the game tighter than many expect, but not tight enough to actually pull out a win.
Look to the spread and/or total instead.
Against the spread
BET BOISE STATE +14.5 (-118).
Not only is Washington being overhyped this season, but Boise State is also being dismissed as the 2023 season begins.
While coach Andy Avalos started slowly in 2022, the 8-2 finish in the final 10 games shows the improvement that occurred when Green took over at QB after the first month of the season.
With Washington looking to get out of this game healthy before heading into Pac-12 play in the coming weeks, the Huskies will limit risk and limit the number of big plays you can expect from them in the home opener. If this were to fall below 13, a wager on the Huskies might be more tempting, but the Broncos are the play catching more than 2 TD.
Over/Under
BET UNDER 58.5 (-115) for the total in Seattle.
Not only have the new clock rules shortened games, but they have also allowed more games to go far Under the posted totals.
With only 35 points and 23 points being scored Thursday in the Florida vs. Utah and Nebraska vs. Minnesota games respectively, it seems like it will take a bit longer for the teams to adjust. While they do, continue to pound Under wagers.
