New Lakers big man Jaxson Hayes had a spectacular swat on Bobby Portis Jr. in Sunday’s preseason game at Crypto.com Arena.

The Los Angeles Lakers took a 2-2 preseason record into their Sunday afternoon matchup versus the new and improved Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks made the blockbuster trade of the summer a couple of weeks ago when they shipped out Jrue Holiday and Grayson Allen for future Hall of Fame guard Damian Lillard. Yet they still have much of the core that won the 2021 NBA championship, including Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Pat Connaughton, Bobby Portis Jr. and, of course, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

One of the Lakers’ offseason additions that has flown somewhat under the radar is big man Jaxson Hayes. Hayes has the ability to be a big-time shot blocker, and he showed why in the second quarter on Sunday when he rejected Portis’ attempt near the rim.

If Hayes plays consistent, fundamental defense and boxes out aggressively, he could be a key member of head coach Darvin Ham’s rotation.

Team USA’s Bobby Portis stuck his tongue out after a basket and the entire arena chanted his name

Bobby Portis is a legend for this.

NBA champion Bobby Portis is one of the veterans on Team USA’s roster and he had a fun performance during his first exhibition game.

The 28-year-old forward was not in the starting lineup for the American national team when they played an exhibition game against Puerto Rico in Las Vegas on Monday night.

The vet had a nasty spin move before a bucket during Team USA’s first official bucket and as he was celebrating, he stuck his out while he was running back down the court to play defense.

Perhaps his silly antics were directed at Olympic legends Kevin Durant or Draymond Green, who watched from the sidelines:

Even though he isn’t even 30 years old yet, he is known by Team USA’s Anthony Edwards as the “elder statesman” of the roster. Clearly, he is a fan favorite as well.

Shortly after the basket from Portis, the arena began chanting his name.

Portis finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block in ten minutes of action. He was 4-of-6 from the field during the contest.

He projects as the backup big man behind Jaren Jackson Jr., who was voted as the best player for Team USA during training camp.
