Ravens K Justin Tucker discusses post-field goal celebration in Week 5 vs. Bengals

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker talked about what was going through his mind during his post-game celebration in Week 5 vs. the Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Cincinnati Bengals 19-17 in Week 6, moving to 3-2 on the 2022 season. The win snapped the Ravens five game losing streak at home and gave them the lead in the AFC North as a result of picking up their first divisional victory. Kicker Justin Tucker was paramount in the result of the game, as he hit the game-winning field goal and also made a 58-yarder in the third quarter to break the 10-10 tie.  Tucker has been known to celebrate after big kicks, and he did it again after the 58-yarder.

When asked what was going through his mind during his post-kick celebration, Tucker shared his mindset. He discussed how he’s celebrated kicks in many different ways before, and that he also wants to save some celebrations for the end of the game.

“Just don’t embarrass myself; I’ve celebrated in many maybe humorous ways over the years. Also, you have to save a little bit for the end of the game too, so I don’t want to peak too early, as we say. You don’t want to put all your cards on the table in the first, or second or third quarter; we wanted to finish. So, I’ll just leave it at that.”

The Ravens are one of the few franchises in the NFL that has had a consistent kicking game over the course of their franchis history. Matt Stover, Billy Cundiff, and Justin Tucker have all had moments in Baltimore, but Tucker is head and shoulders above his competition. He consistently makes big kicks, and continues to be an asset for the Ravens in their quest to bring another Super Bowl back to Baltimore.
