Wrestling’s Bill Goldberg surprises Tim Tebow before Florida-Georgia

SEC greats Bill Goldberg and Tim Tebow did some TV

Wrestling star and former Georgia football player Bill Goldberg made an appearance before Florida-Georgia on Saturday.

Goldberg popped in on the SEC Network and “confronted” Gator legend Tim Tebow.

In other news, Goldberg announced he will have a retirement match next year. The anticipation will drive everyone’s anxiety up. Not.

Colorado LB Gage Goldberg’s dad is a wrestling legend who played with Deion Sanders in the NFL

You might recognize who Colorado linebacker Gage Goldberg’s dad is.

As Colorado kicked its season off on Thursday night against North Dakota State, you might have noticed a familiar last name on the back of one of the Buffaloes’ jerseys.

Linebacker Gage Goldberg is the son of legendary professional wrestler Bill Goldberg, who played with Colorado coach Deion Sanders in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons in the early 1990s as a defensive tackle.

Now, everything comes full circle as Sanders coaches the younger Goldberg with the Buffaloes. What a fun way to track the passage of time that WWE legend Goldberg’s son now plays for Sanders in college football.

While we’re sure the younger Goldberg will want to play in the NFL after his college days are over, perhaps he’ll follow in his old man’s footsteps and eventually give professional wrestling a try.

Wrestler Bill Goldberg appeared at the Buccaneers-Falcons game

If only the Atlanta Falcons had Bill Goldberg when they were up 28-3 in Super Bowl LI.

The wrestler turned up at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday and he encountered a fan in a Tom Brady jersey.

Goldberg wasn’t happy and went with his patented spear to plant said alleged fan.

Goldberg was a Falcon from 1992-94, playing in 14 games. He had one solo tackle and was in on 11 others.

Report: Roman Reigns drops out of WrestleMania 36 card

Roman Reigns has dropped out of WrestleMania 36, citing concerns for his health according to a report.

WWE is saying WrestleMania 36 is too big for one night. The biggest show in pro wrestling will now have to on without one of its featured sports entertainers, according to a report.

Roman Reigns was scheduled to face Goldberg for the WWE Universal championship on one of the two nights. However, the battle between the former Georgia Tech and University of Georgia football players will not take place, per Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet.

WWE has been doing its shows at its Performance Center in Florida due to the coronavirus pandemic. Reigns came back after missing a long spell due to a second bout with leukemia.

The WrestleMania shows are scheduled to be taped and then broadcast on April 4 and 5 after the event was moved from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fl, due to the ongoing pandemic. The host for the WrestleMania extravaganzas is another gridder, former New England Patriot, Rob Gronkowski.

According to the report, Reigns is not comfortable with the risks continued performances at the Performance Center could do to his immune system, which was compromised by his battle with the disease.

Sources with knowledge of the situation tell us Reigns expressed to WWE that he didn’t feel comfortable doing anymore of the Performance Center shows during the coronavirus pandemic because he’s immunocompromised from his battle with leukemia and didn’t want to risk his health.

We’re told WWE honored his request and he will now be replaced by someone else in the match against Goldberg, though it’s unclear who at this time.

The report can be taken seriously as Satin is a contributor to the weekly “WWE Backstage” show on FS1.

So, for the time being it appears as if Reigns is out of WrestleMania 36. In the world of “works” — fake storylines — and shoots — reality — who knows how this will turn out  in the long run …

We have another installment of SmackDown this week at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

We have another installment of SmackDown this week at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. This will be the second week without fans in attendance but WWE is planning a fantastic lineup for Friday.

Earlier in the week on Monday Night Raw we had Edge, Undertaker, and Randy Orton show up and show out. It’s a bit weird to see them perform without the fans but was impressed with how well the show looked. Expect another great performance from the WWE stars.

6 ways WWE could book Rob Gronkowski

Rob Gronkowski and WWE are a match made in sports-entertainment heaven. How can WWE use the great tight end?

Rob Gronkowski is reported to be close to signing with WWE. Imagine that timing, right before WrestleMania. Gronk could appear March 20 on SmackDown! from New Orleans. The FOX football analyst turning up on a show broadcast on the network. How can WWE use such an exceptional talent and personality?

Tom Brady contract signing

Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY Sports

The football world would implode waiting, but imagine if Gronk were able to convince Tom Brady to announce his free-agency decision on SmackDown from New Orleans March 20. The contract signing is always a good ploy for wrestling. This would be the mother of them. You could have different helmets on the table and Brady and Gronk would wear the winner and shuck the remaining ones in vintage sports-entertainment style. The tight end would probably love it. The quarterback not so much on board with the idea.
