Richie James biggest winner of Chiefs’ first public training camp practice

Hype for Richie James reached new highs after his exceptional performance at the #Chiefs’ first public training camp practice on Sunday.

The Kansas City Chiefs host a talented group of wide receivers, and the competition for playing time at the position is something that fans will need to keep their eyes on as training camp progresses.

While second-round picks Rashee Rice and Skyy Moore have the most to prove over the next month, it was veteran free agent addition Richie James who stood out from the rest at the first public practice on Sunday.

James stole the show with his crisp route running and sure hands, which will make him a trusted target for Patrick Mahomes when Kansas City takes the field in the preseason and beyond.

The former New York Giant also flashed some upside after the catch, showing off an elusiveness that might surprise some fans who are unfamiliar with his game.

A former seventh-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers, James is looking to find sustained success in Kansas City after putting up impressive numbers with the Giants last season. If he can continue building chemistry with his quarterbacks and competing for snaps at practice, James may be a sure thing to crack the Chiefs’ 53-man roster ahead of the regular season kickoff in September.

Notre Dame named biggest winner of college football weekend

In a shock to nobody, Notre Dame was named the biggest winner of the college weekend for their win over Clemson.

Whenever you knock off number one it’s a good day for your football team.

That was the clearly the case for Notre Dame as they upset Clemson, marking the first win over a top-ranked team for the first time since 1993 this past Saturday.

As a result the nation took notice as they moved Notre Dame up to second in the national rankings on Sunday and then Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY called them the biggest winner of the weekend.

Of Notre Dame, Myerberg said:

Beating Clemson 47-40 is validation for this specific Notre Dame team, which despite rising to No. 4 in this week’s Amway Coaches Poll had not been given the same sort of credibility handed to the Tigers, Alabama and Ohio State. While another game against Clemson awaits in the ACC championship game, the big payoff from Saturday night is in the ability it gives the Irish to lose that rematch and still have a strong case for the top four at one loss.

The last sentence of Myerberg’s piece is the most noteworthy.

If Notre Dame wins out and loses to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, tell me who will have a better case and a better win on the season than the Irish victory over the Tigers this week.
