San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The San Francisco Giants (17-19) drop by Coors Field Tuesday for an 8:40 p.m. ET first pitch against the Colorado Rockies (17-18) in the first game of a 2-game set. Below, we analyze the Giants-Diamondbacks MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Giants at Rockies: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Kevin Gausman vs. RHP Jon Gray

Gausman: 1-2, 4.54 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 12.1 K/9 and 2.0 BB/9 in 35 2/3 IP over 7 games (6 starts).

  • Last start: 2-0 loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers with 3 H, 2 ER, 6 K and 2 BB in 4 2/3 IP Aug. 27.
  • Career in Coors Field: 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 7 K and 1 BB in 5 1/3 IP.

Gray: 2-3, 5.45 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 5.2 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 through 36 1/3 IP over 7 starts.

  • Last start: Win, 3 H, 1 ER, 5 K and 3 BB in 6 IP at the Arizona Diamondbacks Aug. 26.
  • Career vs. Giants: 1-5 with a 5.30 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, 47 K and 22 BB in 54 1/3 IP over 11 starts.

Prediction

Giants 6, Rockies 4

Moneyline (ML)

The Rockies (-115) were shutout Monday, 6-0, by the San Diego Padres at home. Colorado is sliding in the standings thanks to a 6-14 run over its last 20 games.

The Giants (+105) have won back-to-back games, and their last series, against the Arizona Diamondbacks. San Francisco has come on strong in recent weeks, winning 7 of its last 10 games.

Colorado won the earlier series meeting at Coors Field, 3-1, but the Rockies didn’t dominate the Giants at home in 2019. They went 5-4 in the season series at Coors Field.

Gray’s numbers aren’t very inspiring and it’s not as though he should expect Colorado’s bottom-5 bullpen to bail him out of any trouble. We are BETTING GIANTS (+105) since they are the hotter team and getting plus-money.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Each team has a winning run line record overall but Colorado is just 7-12 on the run line at Coors Field this year. I am cool with the moneyline wager and PASSING ON THE RUN LINE.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 12 (-110) is the play because the trends say so. Both teams have cashed Unders in 3 of their last 4 games and the Under is 21-8-3 in the last 32 Giants-Rockies meeting. We are getting a good number because neither pitcher has good splits and Coors Field has the reputation of a hitters’ park.

Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Rays (25-11) and the New York Yankees (19-14) continue their three-game set Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium. We analyze the Rays-Yankees MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Rays at Yankees: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Trevor Richards vs. RHP Masahiro Tanaka

Richards enters play with no decisions across 21 innings in his six appearances, posting a 5.14 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. He has started two games with four relief appearances.

  • Richards will be making his third appearance against the Yankees. Both of his previous outings against the Bronx Bombers were relief outings, allowing four runs – two earned – and eight hits over seven innings with six strikeouts.
  • Richards tied a season-high with 4 1/3 innings in his most recent start Aug. 26 against the Baltimore Orioles, allowing two unearned runs, six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in a no-decision.

Also see: BaseballHQ Fantasy Baseball

Tanaka has made five starts this season and he is still angling for his first victory. He is 0-1 with a 3.48 ERA and 1.16 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 20 2/3 innings.

  • Tanaka has had mixed results against the Rays this season. He allowed just one hit and no walks with five strikeouts in five scoreless innings in a no-decision Aug. 7 in St. Petersburg, but he was pounded for six runs – five earned – and eight hits in just four innings in a loss at The Stadium Aug. 18.
  • In that ugly showing Aug. 18 vs. Tampa Bay, Tanaka allowed four extra-base hits and he threw just 43 of his 71 pitches for strikes.

Special Betting Promotion! Bet $1 on the New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays matchup, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team hits a home run during their game. Regardless of your team bet, you win with a homer! Place your legal baseball wagers in CO, IN, NJ and WV at BetMGM. Terms and conditions apply. Bet now!

Prediction

Yankees 6, Rays 5

Moneyline (ML)

The YANKEES (-134) have three of their big bats out of the lineup, so they’ll have to manufacture runs. They’ll face a pitcher who isn’t terribly stretched out and won’t go deep into the game, while they have one of their aces on the bump. Of course, that didn’t mean much in the series opener when the Yankees lost with Gerrit Cole on the mound. Still, take the Yankees to scratch out a win against Richards and the Rays (+120).

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Yankees would return a profit of just $7.50.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Steer far clear of the run line here. The Yankees (-1.5, +150) side looks pretty tempting, but they have just three wins since Aug. 17, and two of those victories were of the one-run variety. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 9 (-110) is the lean here, but don’t expect the game to go over by much. Again, the Yankees are missing their biggest bats, although the Over is 2-0-1 in their past three regardless. The Over has cashed in two in a row for the Rays, too, and the Over is 5-2 in the past seven meetings in this series.

Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Chicago Cubs at Pittsburgh Pirates sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Chicago Cubs (20-14) begin a three-game set against the NL Central-rival Pittsburgh Pirates (10-22) Tuesday. First pitch at PNC Park is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. We analyze the Cubs-Pirates betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Cubs at Pirates: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Jon Lester vs. RHP Chad Kuhl

Lester: 2-1, 4.55 ERA, 1.200 WHIP, 22 K, 5 BB, 16 ER, 31 2/3 IP, 6 starts

  • Gave up four home runs and eight earned runs in a loss to the Chicago White Sox Aug. 21, but bounced backed to allow only a single earned run last Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers.
  • Has a 1.13 road ERA through three starts and 16 total innings as a visitor.

Kuhl: 1-1, 2.52 ERA, 1.080 WHIP, 20 K, 11 BB, 7 ER, 25 IP, 4 stars (2 relief appearances)

  • A 4.0 BB/9 and 1.8 HR/9 don’t bode well against a Cubs team walking in 11.4% of plate appearances and with a .196 team ISO.
  • Has a 1.42 ERA at home through two starts and a relief appearance.

Special Indiana and West Virginia Promotion! Bet $1 on the Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates matchup, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team hits a home run during their game. Cubs at Pirates: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9:24 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Cubs 7, Pirates 3

Moneyline (ML)

The CUBS (-162) are the clear and easy pick Tuesday. They’re coming off a 10-1 win against the Cincinnati Reds Sunday and the offense will make quick work of Kuhl, who has a boatload of regression headed his way due to the awful walk rate. The Cubs are atop the NL Central while the Pirates (+145) toil away in fifth, as expected coming into the season.

The Cubs swept a three-game set at Wrigley Field a month ago. The Pirates covered the spread in two of the three games and two of the three played to the Under. Expect better from the Chicago offense with Bryant likely to make his return.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Cubs (-162) to win returns a profit of $6.17.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

There’s a much better profit margin to be had on the run line when backing CUBS -1.5 (-110). The Pirates are not a good team and Kuhl is off to a much better start than he deserves with a 2.52 ERA but 4.98 xFIP that’s more indicative of his control struggles.

Lester was able to bounce back against the lowly Tigers last time out and should be able to go deep into Tuesday’s game to spare bettors from the dreaded Cubs bullpen.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 9.5 (-110). Even if Kuhl is able to hold his own, both teams will be able to score a bunch of runs late against bullpens ranked in the bottom 10 of MLB by ERA.

Esten’s MLB betting record: 30-32

Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Rays (24-11) and New York Yankees (19-13) kick off a three-game Yankee Stadium series Monday night at 7:05 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Rays-Yankees MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Rays at Yankees: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Tyler Glasnow vs. RHP Gerrit Cole

Glasnow is coming off his best start of the season (2 ER, 1 BB, 13 SO in 7 IP), but he totes a 5.14 ERA into Monday’s contest at Yankee Stadium.

  • Glasnow has struggled away from Tropicana Field this season (5.0 BB/9, 5.65 ERA).
  • The heavily scout-and-analytics-armed Yankees are among the best in the league in banging out big numbers when seeing pitchers multiple times. On Monday, they are seeing Glasnow for a third time this month.

Cole has registered a 3.51 ERA through seven starts. He’s coming off a shaky road turn against the Braves (5 ER in 5 IP). The Yankee ace coughed up 3 HR in that start and has yielded five round-trippers over his last 11.2 IP.

  • Cole has walked just two batters while striking out 22 men over his last 19.2 IP at home. That stretch includes a 10-strikeout performance against Tampa Bay (Aug. 19).

Rays at Yankees: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9:20 a.m. ET.

Moneyline (ML)

The Rays are 18-4 since Aug. 7, and that mark includes going 6-1 against these Yankees. In fact, that mark includes taking six of seven from a healthier version of the 2020 New York Yankees.

And while New York is indeed banged up, and its pitching isn’t intact after playing three doubleheaders over the last seven day, the price on Cole here is attractive. The Rays are a few games overcooked with their .686 win percentage, and Cole mitigates much of New York’s bullpen disarray. LOOK FOR A LINE CORRECTION INTO THE -140s, BUT THE YANKEES (-150) ARE THE LEAN.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Yankees returns a profit of $6.67.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The contest has a low total. AVOID THE YANKEES -1.5 (+140).

Over/Under (O/U)

Tag Monday’s series opener with a lean on the Under despite the low figure. These two clubs are battling for supremacy in the AL East, and their last 19 games in the Bronx have been a 14-5-1 edge for the Under. New York weather gets a low-humidity cool off, and the forecast calls for an inward breeze. MAKE A PLAY ON THE UNDER 7.5 (-110).

San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and bets.

The San Francisco Giants (16-19) finish a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks (14-20) on Sunday. The first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET at Chase Field. Below, we analyze the Giants-Diamondbacks MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Series: 1-1

Giants at Diamondbacks: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Johnny Cueto vs. RHP Taylor Clarke

Cueto in 2020: 2-0 with a 5.40 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 8.5 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9 in 35 IP over 7 starts

  • Last start: No-decision with 4 IP, 8 H, 6 ER, 6 K and 1 BB in a 10-8 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Aug. 25.
  • Career vs. Diamondbacks: 11-3 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 100 K and 31 BB in 100 1/3 IP over 16 starts.

Clarke in 2020: 1-0 with a 2.33 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 8.4 K/9 and 5.1 BB/9 in 19 1/3 IP over 1 start and 6 relief appearances.

  • Last start: No-decision with 1 2/3 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 1 K and 1 BB in a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Aug. 24.
  • Clarke has only been in the majors for two seasons, and he’s compiled a 6-5 overall record with a 4.76 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 86 K and 41 BB in 104 IP over 16 starts and 14 relief appearances.

Giants at Diamondbacks: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:05 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Giants 8, Diamondbacks 3

Moneyline (ML)

The Giants (+115) have won seven of their last 10 games, including a three-game sweep of the Diamondbacks Aug. 21-23, and beat Arizona on Saturday, 5-2. The Diamondbacks (-129) have struggled of late, going 1-9 in their last 10 games, and only scoring two-plus runs in three of those games.

This will be Cueto’s last start before the trade deadline and he’s reportedly being shopped around. Cueto will be dialed in because the better the outing, the better chances he gets sent to a contender. Furthermore, both have a below-average bullpen, but Arizona’s bullpen is ranked 23rd in ERA, 27th in WHIP and opponent’s batting average.

BET GIANTS (+115). New to sports betting? A $100 bet on the Giants (+115) pays a $115 profit if San Francisco beats Arizona.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

GRAB GIANTS -1.5 (+165) on the alternate spread. San Francisco has one of the better run line records in the majors (20-15) and their last five wins over Arizona have come by three or more runs. Also, the Giants are 4-1 in the last five meetings and 8-3 in the last 11 meetings in Arizona.

New to sports betting? A $50 wager on Giants -1.5 (+165) pays a profit of $82.50 if they win by two or more runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

San Francisco’s lineup has been on fire lately with Brandon Belt hitting a .500 BA with 4 HR and 11 RBI and Evan Longoria hitting .375 BA with 3 HR and 12 RBI over their last 15 games.

Plus the Giants have the third-highest Over percentage in the MLB, and the Over is 3-0-2 in Cueto’s last 5 road starts. The market favors OVER 9 (-115), and so do we.

Game 1: New York Mets at New York Yankees odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s New York Mets and New York Yankees sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The New York Mets (15-17) and New York Yankees (17-13) will continue their Subway Series with a Sunday twin bill at Yankee Stadium. Game 1 is slated for a 1:05 p.m. ET start. We analyze the Mets-Yankees betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

The Yanks will be the home team (and bat last) for Sunday’s opener. The Mets will play as the home team in Game 2 (4:05 p.m. ET scheduled start).

Mets at Yankees: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Rick Porcello vs. RHP Michael King

Porcello owns a 6.43 ERA through six starts. The veteran hurler has allowed 8 ER on 15 hits over his last 9 IP (2 GS).

  • The right-hander has a solid history as a road pitcher, and he owns a 3.96 ERA at Yankee Stadium.
  • Porcello has yielded his fair share of hard contact this season, but he’s been undone by a .413 batting average on balls in play.

King: 1-1, 6.59 ERA, 1.098 WHIP, 12 K, 5 BB, 13 2/3 IP, 1 start, 3 relief appearances

  • Went 3 2/3 innings with 3 earned runs allowed in his only start of the season thus far.

Mets at Yankees: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 11:50 a.m. ET.

Moneyline (ML)

New York’s American League entry is a banged-up club that has cranked out all of 2.6 runs per game (on a lowly .644 OPS) since Aug. 18. The Yankees (+100) have solid Major League depth, but against quality opponents like the Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, and Mets (-110) the junior varsity is being exposed.

Porcello is backed by a Mets bullpen which has turned things around the last couple weeks. Broad analytics peg them as a top-10 unit. The Yankees pen has been scuffling to a 5.67 ERA over the last two weeks and the injury-marred core of that group may not have much in the tank Sunday.

The opener is a likable play for the National Leaguers. TAKE THE METS (-110) as slight favorites.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The visitors are the lean on what may set up for an Over. A better price on the Mets would trigger a play here, but the METS -1.5 (+145) draws a layoff.

Over/Under (O/U)

Keep in mind this line is for a seven-inning game which is part of a twin bill. The total  — currently OVER 8 (-110)/UNDER 8 (-110) — jumped during the writing of this sentence. If it dips back to 7.5, take the Over.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Pirates (9-21) and Milwaukee Brewers (15-17) meet in a Sunday matinee at 2:10 p.m. ET at Miller Park. We analyze the Pirates-Brewers betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Pirates at Brewers: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Steven Brault vs. RHP Brandon Woodruff

Brault owns a 4.80 ERA through 15 innings.

  • The Pirates port-sider has struggled mightily in past meetings against Milwaukee with 13 walks against 14 strikeouts while allowing an .852 OPS
  • Had a road ERA of 5.16 in 2019.

Woodruff has been terrific through seven starts. The 27-year-old righty has whiffed 41 batters in 36 2/3 innings pitched, logging a 3.19 ERA along the way.

  • Woodruff fanned eight against just one walk in his last outing. He owns a would-be career-best 12.9% swinging-strike rate on the season.
  • The Brewers hurler has been tough on the Pirates in the past with a .574 OPS allowed, .119 ISO allowed and 6-to-1 SO-to-BB ratio.
  • Woodruff has filed a fine 3.16 ERA over his last 102 2/3 IP at Miller Park.

Special West Virginia Promotion! Bet $1 on the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers matchup, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team hits a home run during their game. Pirates at Brewers: Odds, lines, picks and betting tips

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 9:50 a.m. ET.

Moneyline (ML)

The market has beaten the Milwaukee side into submission. So, PASS ON BREWERS -250, but still LAY OFF PIRATES +225.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on the Brewers to win outright returns a profit of $4.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Milwaukee batters have filed a robust .251/.349/.453 slash line against southpaws this season. Pittsburgh has languished with a low-contact .614 OPS against right-handers. The Pirates’ .577 road OPS ranks last in MLB, and in general Pittsburgh has become a club to fade or pass upon in just about any scenario.

The Brew Crew have scored 16 runs over the first two games of this series and their price on the multi-run victory — BREWERS -1.5 (-121) — is worth taking.

Over/Under (O/U)

The best value on the board for this matchup is OVER 8.5 (-110). The high side is 19-6-3 over Milwaukee’s last 28 games against a sub-.400 foe, 5-1 in the Brewers’ last six games vs. left-handed starters and 6-2-1 in Pittsburgh’s last nine road tilts.

San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies odds, picks and best bets

Analyzing Sunday’s San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies matchup, with MLB betting odds, picks and best bets

The San Diego Padres (20-15) continue their four-game set Sunday with Game 3 against the Colorado Rockies (17-16) at Coors Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Padres-Rockies MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Padres at Rockies: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Chris Paddack vs. RHP Ryan Castellani

Paddack checks in with a 2-3 record, 5.15 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 34 strikeouts across 36 2/3 innings in his seven starts this season.

  • Paddack has allowed at least six earned runs in two of his past three outings, including six runs, eight hits and two homers given up over five innings in a loss against the Seattle Mariners Tuesday in his last start.
  • The sample size isn’t terribly high, but Paddack is 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA with a .343 opponent batting average across eight inning in his two road starts.

Castellani is 1-1 with a 3.54 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 14 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings across four starts this season.

  • Castellani posted his first-career quality start in Arizona on Monday last time out, allowing two earned runs, three hits and three walks with three strikeouts over six innings.
  • Castellani has a respectable ERA, but he has served up five home runs in his past three outings over 16 1/3 innings.

Prediction

Padres 7, Rockies 5

Moneyline (ML)

The PADRES (-162) are just 2-3 against the Rockies (+145) this season, all at Coors Field. Despite that, San Diego is facing a rookie pitcher while they have one of their top hurlers on the hill. Paddack is much better than his overall numbers indicate. While an assignment at Coors Field is a tough place for a pitcher to right the ship, he will, and the Padres will be victorious in the third of this four-game set.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Padres fetches a $6.20 profit if San Diego beats Colorado.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The PADRES (-1.5, -115) are risky business on the run line, but each of their past four wins have also covered the run line, too. In fact, they have won by two or more runs in six of the past eight.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 12.5 (-110) isn’t a slam-dunk play, and is a bit high despite the fact both teams rank in the bottom third of MLB in terms of bullpen ERA. This will be another slugfest, but going Over 12.5 runs is just way too much.

San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies with MLB betting picks, tips and bets.

The San Diego Padres (20-14) continue their four-game set Saturday with Game 2 against the Colorado Rockies (16-16) at Coors Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Padres-Rockies MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Padres at Rockies: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Adrian Morejon vs. RHP Antonio Senzatela

Morejon hasn’t factored into a decision in his two previous appearances, posting a 5.79 ERA over 4 2/3 innings in two starts.

  • Morejon was tagged for three earned runs, three hits and a walk with three strikeouts while retiring just five batters in a start against the Houston Astros this past Sunday.
  • Morejon has simply operated as an “opener” in his two starts, so the Padres bullpen will have to do some heavy lifting. San Diego’s bullpen ranks 24th in the majors with a 5.35 ERA.

Senzatela has registered a 3-1 record, 3.96 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 25 strikeouts across 36 1/3 innings in six starts.

  • Senzatela lost his last start to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Aug. 23. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits, six earned runs and only struck out 1 batter in the 11-3 loss.

Prediction

Padres 9, Rockies 7

Moneyline (ML)

The PADRES (-129) will look to build upon their momentum after a 10-4 victory against the Rockies (+115) in the series opener. Despite the win, they’re still just 2-2 in four meetings this season. With Morejon and Senzatela on the bump, this has the makings of a typical high-scoring Coors Field slugfest. Still, you should back the better team, and so far this season that’s San Diego.

New to sports betting? A $12.90 wager on Padres fetches a $10 profit if San Diego beats Colorado.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The PADRES (-1.5, +105) are worth a small-unit play, as they certainly looked comfortable at Coors Field on Friday. San Diego posted 10 runs, and against Senzatela, they could be in line for a repeat performance.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 13 (-110) is the way to go here. The opener ended up going over, with the visitors nearly taking care of business themselves. With unproven pitchers like Morejon and Senzatela going, we could see plenty of crooked numbers on the board. And we’re dealing with two of the poorest bullpens in the majors, as San Diego’s ‘pen ranks 24th in the league (5.35), while Colorado’s bullpen ranks 26th in the majors (5.66).

Prediction

Reds 2, Cubs 0

Moneyline (ML)

The REDS (-106) are the play in this expected pitchers’ duel. Darvish has won five in a row, but Bauer gets the edge. He’ll be zoned in as he’s coming off his worst start of the year in which he yielded 4 earned runs on 7 hits – he allowed only 2 earned runs on 8 hits in his previous four starts.

Just look at these numbers (again):

  • Bauer: 1.65, 0.75 WHIP, 49 K (5 starts)
  • Darvish: 1.70 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 44 K (6 starts)

What gives Bauer the nod is that he has made two doubleheader starts already this season and fired (seven-inning) complete-game shutouts in both. With this being another seven-inning contest, don’t be surprised if he records his MLB-leading third complete game of 2020.

New to sports betting? Every winning $1.06 bet on the Reds will profit $1. Every $1.06 bet on the Cubs (-106) will profit a $1 if they win.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS. Don’t even bother. The Reds (+1.5, -209) are 13-18 vs. the RL overall and 5-8 at home. The Cubs (-1.5, +170) are 14-17 vs. the RL, including 5-6 on the road. Plus, they’re 1-6 vs. the RL in their last seven games.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-110) is the STRONGEST PLAY with these two pitchers toeing the rubber. Bauer starts are 1-4 vs. the O/U this season, while Darvish is 3-3, but 1-3 O/U in his last four. (Strongest-play wagers should be 1½ times your usual bet).
