Prediction

Brewers 7, Pirates 4

Moneyline (ML)

The BREWERS (-140) are the STRONGEST PLAY. Don’t worry about Kuhl being 3-0 with that 1.72 ERA vs. Milwaukee in his career. He last beat the Brewers in 2018.

The Pirates (+125) are 2-12 in their last 14 games and own the worst record in the majors at 4-17.

The Brewers took two of three at the Pirates in July and were 15-4 vs. the Bucs in 2019. They also are 3-1 in Houser’s 2020 starts.

New to sports betting? Every winning $1.40 bet on the Brewers ML will profit $1. A $1 winning bet on the Pirates profits $1.25. (Strongest-play wagers should be 1½ times your usual bet).

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS. Both teams sport below-.500 RL records. The Brewers (-1.5, +110) are 9-14 vs. the RL overall and 7-8 on the road. The Pirates (+1.5, -134) are 10-11 vs. the RL overall and 4-7 at home.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet OVER 9 (-110). Two of the three games these two played in July went Over the projected total. Plus, Milwaukee is 10-1 O/U in its last 11 road games when the line is 9 to 10.5, and Pittsburgh is 19-9 O/U in its last 28 vs. NL Central rivals.

Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Chicago White Sox (15-11) and Chicago Cubs (16-8) will kick off a three-game series on Friday night. First pitch from Wrigley Field will be at 8:15 p.m. ET. We analyze the White Sox-Cubs betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

White Sox at Cubs: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Dallas Keuchel vs. LHP Jon Lester

Keuchel has factored into the decision in each of his five starts, going 3-2 with a 3.07 ERA.

  • Keuchel is averaging just 4.9 K/9, which is his lowest mark since his rookie year in 2012.
  • In three career starts against the Cubs, Keuchel is 1-1 with a 4.02 ERA.

Lester is 2-0 in his four starts this season, pitching to a 2.74 ERA.

  • Lester is struggling to strike batters out (career-low 5.5 K/9) but his WHIP is a career-best 0.870
  • Lester has started 19 games against the White Sox in his career, going 11-6 with a 4.02 ERA.

Prediction

Cubs 5, White Sox 3

Moneyline (ML)

Both the White Sox (-112) and Cubs (+100) have played good baseball lately, with the White Sox winning five in a row; however, four of those games were against the lowly Detroit Tigers. The Cubs went 3-2 against the rival St. Louis Cardinals.

I’m going with the Cubs in this one, especially if Robert is sidelined. Lester is pitching well even with a lower strikeout rate and will limit the damage done by a hot White Sox team.

Take the CUBS (+100) at even money.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Cubs to win returns a profit of $10.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The White Sox come in favored over the Cubs on the road, with a run line of -1.5 (+135). The Cubs are getting +1.5 runs at -162, which doesn’t provide much upside. Still, I feel good about the Cubs at least keeping it close, so getting runs is a solid bet, even against Keuchel.

Bet the CUBS +1.5 (-162) to cover the spread.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is 9.5 in this matchup, tied for the highest of the night. Both starters come in with solid numbers despite striking out fewer batters than they’re used to.

In their last five meetings, the total has gone under four times. If Robert and Bryant are both sidelined, it’ll be a dent in both teams’ lineups, making the under all the more likely.

Bet the UNDER 9.5 (-110).

Houston Astros at Colorado Rockies odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Houston Astros at Colorado Rockies sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Houston Astros (14-10) take on the Colorado Rockies (13-11) in the final game of their series at Coors Field Thursday. First pitch is at 3:10 p.m. ET. We analyze the Astros-Rockies betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Astros at Rockies: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Cristian Javier vs. RHP German Marquez

Javier: 2-1, 2.91 ERA, 21 K, 21 2/3 IP, 4 starts (one relief appearance)

  • Javier has a ridiculously low WHIP at 0.831.
  • He has allowed four home runs in 21 2/3 innings.

Marquez: 2-3, 2.25 ERA, 30 K, 32 IP, 5 starts

  • Opponents are only batting .227 against him this season.

Special Colorado Thursday Promotion! Bet $1 on the Colorado Rockies vs. Houston Astros matchup, Win $100 (in free bets) if either team hits a home run Thursday, August 20, 2020. Prediction

Rockies 7, Astros 5

Moneyline (ML)

The Rockies, underdogs Wednesday, are favored in the series finale at -129. They have lost three in a row and eight out of 10, while the Astros (+115) have rattled off seven straight victories and eight out of 10.

With Bregman likely to be out of the lineup for Houston, expect the Rockies to take advantage. Take the ROCKIES (-129) to win.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Rockies to win returns a profit of $7.75.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Rockies are favored at -1.5 (+145). Only one team in baseball has covered more games than the Rockies and they have the second-best cover percentage in the league, while Houston is still 11-13 ATS, even with their seven-game winning streak.

While Houston won and covered Wednesday, stay with the trends. Take the ROCKIES -1.5 (+145).

Over/Under (O/U)

The total is set at 11.5 runs for Thursday’s game. They already hit the Over in their first game of the series at Coors Field, which always gets high run totals.

Colorado’s games go Under 56.5% of the time. That said, after exploding for a combined 19 runs Wednesday, that total will come down but still go for more than the 11 run total. Take the OVER 11.5 RUNS (-106).

Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Wednesday’s Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Rays (15-9) will face the New York Yankees (16-7) in the second game of a three-night series at Yankee Stadium Wednesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. ET. We analyze the Rays-Yankees betting odds and lines, with MLB picks and best bets.

Rays at Yankees: Projected starting pitchers

RHP Tyler Glasnow vs. RHP Gerrit Cole

Glasnow hasn’t been the ace Tampa Bay thought he’d be this season, going 0-1 with a 7.04 ERA through 15 1/3 innings over four starts.

  • Glasnow is 0-2 in his career against the Yankees, pitching to a 5.68 ERA in three starts.
  • He’s averaging a career-high 15.8 K/9 this season, but has also allowed the same number of runs (12) as he surrendered in 60 2/3 innings last year.

Cole is a perfect 4-0 this season with a 2.76 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 29 1/3 innings.

  • Cole has now won 20 straight decisions dating back to last year with the Houston Astros. It is the third-longest streak in MLB history.
  • Cole is 0-2 in five career starts against the Rays, with a 3.86 ERA and 13.9 K/9.

Special Wednesday Promotion! Bet $1 on the New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays matchup, Win $100 (in free bets) if either team hits a home run Wednesday, August 19th, 2020. Prediction

Yankees 6, Rays 3

Moneyline (ML)

The Yankees (-189) were on a tear before losing to the Rays 6-3 Tuesday night, winning their previous six games. They’re favored still favored for Game 2 of the series.

The Rays (+170) are still plenty capable and boast a 15-9 record with a young ace on the mound, but they need Glasnow to get out of the rut he’s in. Rather than betting on either side with the moneyline, I’d rather PASS and look at the run line.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Yankees to win returns a profit of $5.29.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The YANKEES -1.5 (+110) are the play to win by 2 or more runs Wednesday. That’s a very fair spread for this matchup, especially with Cole on the mound. I’d feel comfortable giving up 1.5 runs in a wager on the Yankees, especially with Glasnow’s recent struggles.

Go with the YANKEES -1.5 (+110) to cover and win by 2 or more runs.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Over/Under is only 8 in this one, partly because two aces are on the mound. The Yankees shouldn’t give up many runs with Cole pitching, but Glasnow has blown up in his last two starts.

Even without LeMahieu, Stanton and Judge, the Yankees will score enough to put the total over eight runs. Bet the OVER 8 (-110).

Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees sports betting odds and lines, with MLB betting picks, tips and best bets for August 18, 2020.

The Tampa Bay Rays (14-9) and New York Yankees (16-6) close out a four-game series Tuesday; first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET from Yankee Stadium. We analyze the Rays-Yankees MLB betting odds and lines, with picks and best bets.

Season Series: The Rays have won three out of the four meetings so far and remain in striking distance of the AL East-leading Yankees.

Rays at Yankees: Projected starting pitchers

LHP Blake Snell at RHP Masahiro Tanaka

Snell in 2020: 1-0, 2.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 20:4 K:BB in 4 GS (13 IP)

  • Last start: 8/12, Win — 5 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, and 6 K at the Boston Red Sox last Wednesday
  • Snell has had to build up his innings limit and stamina; he’s been carefully managed following last year’s surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow. He looked set for a full role in his last start, so expect him to act like a true SP moving forward.
  • Career at Yankee Stadium: 4.23 ERA in 17 GS

Tanaka in 2020: 0-0, 2.31 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 11:3 K:BB in 3 GS (11 2/3 IP)

  • Last start: 8/12, No-decision — 4 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 K vs. Atlanta Braves
  • Career at Yankee Stadium: 3.37 ERA in 84 GS
  • Career vs. Rays: 3.07 ERA in 19 GS

Special Tuesday Promotion! Bet $1 on the New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays matchup, WIN $100 (in free bets) if either team hits a home run Tuesday, August 18th, 2020. Prediction

Rays 4, Yankees 3

Moneyline (ML)

  • Rays (-110)
  • Yankees (100)

The books are predicting Snell to halt New York’s six-game win streak, and it’s not an unfounded bet considering his recent form. He’s the type of ace-level pitcher who could quiet New York’s bats, who are missing three key pieces in Judge, LeMahieu, and Stanton.

BET the Rays (-110).

New to sports betting? You would need a successful $11 bet to win a $10 profit on this line.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

  • Rays -1.5 (+140)
  • Yankees +1.5 (-167)

As enticing as the +140 mark is for the Rays’ run line, I’ll avoid it. Also, the Yankees don’t get enough of a reward for keeping this one close. PASS.

Over/Under (O/U)

  • Over 8.5 (-110)
  • Under 8.5 (-110)

Given that Tanaka works well at home and Snell has a good outlook, I’d make a light wager and BET THE Under 8.5 (-110).

New to sports betting? You would need a successful $11 bet to win a $10 profit on this line.
