Look: Amarius Mims impressed in first Bengals practice highlights

A few clips of new Bengals first-rounder Amarius Mims.

New Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton wasn’t the only rookie impressing at practices late last week.

First-rounder Amarius Mims was putting on a show of his own, too.

Mims isn’t going to impress by running quick routes and making flashy catches. But the 6’8″, 340-tackle still flashed in practice footage with some uncanny footwork for a player his size while putting in work with offensive line coach Frank Pollack and others.

For now, fans know that one of the knocks on Mims’ draft stock was the fact he only started eight games. But some of this varied practice footage shows the impressive skill and technique that could quickly make Mims the long-term starter at right tackle:

WATCH: Highlights of Bengals’ Erick All in college

Some highlights of the newest Bengals weapon.

The Cincinnati Bengals picked up another weapon for Joe Burrow’s offense with an extensive highlight reel in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft.

Said weapon is Erick All, an explosive all-around tight end who, at least based on the highlights, looks like he could become a favorite target of Burrow in a hurry.

As noted in our breakdown of the pick, there are some medical concerns with All.

But based on the film and highlights, it is clear that if his body can hold up, the Bengals might have a steal of a value.

Here’s a look at some clips and highlights:

Look: Highlights for new Bengals RB Zack Moss

Highlights from the newest Joe Burrow weapon in the Bengals offense.

The Cincinnati Bengals really wanted free-agent running back Zack Moss.

So much so, while they saved cap space by cutting Joe Mixon in the process, the front office also outbid a big-spender like the Dallas Cowboys for his services.

One look at the highlights explains why.

Sure, there are advanced metrics like rushing yards over expected per carry (+0.71) to explain Moss’ effectiveness. But the eye test? There’s plenty of value in that for fans, too, especially so soon after a signing.

Here’s a look at some of the best highlights of Moss’ pro career to date from a variety of games:

Watch: Jake Browning hits Ja’Marr Chase for 76-yard TD

Another epic touchdown for Ja’Marr Chase.

The Cincinnati Bengals took a 21-14 lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night courtesy of a 76-yard touchdown pass from Jake Browning to Ja’Marr Chase

On what was the longest play from scrimmage for the offense all year, Browning properly saw the blitz coming off the snap and fired one up for Chase in single coverage.

Chase came down with it and had so much open space in front of him that he was actually able to slow down before hitting the endzone and — of course — also hitting a variation of the griddy.

Here’s a look at the big play for the suddenly explosive Bengals offense:

Ja’Marr Chase goes viral for amazing catch with mouthguard in his hand

Ja’Marr Chase caught a pass while holding onto his mouth guard.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was involved in all sorts of interesting highlights during Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chase had multiple instances of tipped passes that ended up in his hands through sheer impressive feats of concentration, with one of those going for a huge gain down the field.

And in another, Chase quickly went viral online because he hauled in a pass while blanketed in coverage — while holding his mouthguard in his hand.

It’s a pretty stunning highlight and one Chase will surely have to explain after the game. For now, it’s hard to miss the neon green mouthguard in his hand when he goes up for this difficult catch:

Watch: Jake Browning hits Drew Sample for TD to put Bengals up over Steelers

Jake Browning leads the Bengals to a TD.

The Cincinnati Bengals scored the first touchdown of Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second quarter.

There, Jake Browning — starting in place of the injured Joe Burrow — sold a fake well and hit Drew Sample, who barreled over Mitchell Wilcox to put the Bengals up 7-3.

It was an ugly first quarter overall for the offense, but a big kickoff return from Trayveon Williams and a Ja’Marr Chase catch off a deflected pass put the Bengals in good field position.

Notably, the Bengals stuck to their word about running the same exact offense and that included going repeatedly to the pass in the redzone, resulting in the score.

Watch: Joe Burrow escapes, hits Ja’Marr Chase for 64-yard TD

Joe Burrow goes off-script to Ja’Marr Chase to spur the Bengals comeback.

Down 20-10 in the third quarter to the visiting Houston Texans, the Cincinnati Bengals needed a big play to get back in the game and avoid the trap-game upset.

Joe Burrow provided.

Escaping the pocket, Burrow rolled out and threw off one foot on the run, hitting Ja’Marr Chase on a drag route that he ended up taking 64 yards for a touchdown.

Impressive by all parties, but especially Chase, considering he entered the game as questionable due to a back injury and was only playing because he passed a test during pregame warmups that morning.

The play broke the Bengals offense out of a slumber since the game’s opening-drive touchdown:

Watch: Joe Mixon scores first TD of season to give Bengals lead over Raiders

Joe Mixon scored his first TD of the year against the Raiders.

Joe Mixon has his first touchdown of the year and the Cincinnati Bengals secured the lead over the Oakland Raiders in the process.

After a gutsy call from Zac Taylor on a fourth down to keep the drive alive, the Bengals marched down the field in the first quarter to take the lead over the Raiders, 7-0.

Mixon, in front of a friendly crowd given his hometown, ripped off a wicked field-reversal to make the score official.

After his first 100-yard game of the season a week ago in a loss to the Ravens, Mixon’s first touchdown is something the Bengals hope spurs a revival of the ground attack and eventually leads to some wins.
